Following multiple reports in recent months about 'Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War' launching in 2024, it looks like Xbox is about to officially unveil the game this June. As part of today's Xbox Summer Showcase announcement, Microsoft has teased a game-specific 'Direct' to follow the main show - a Direct that's all-but confirmed to focus on this year's Call of Duty game.
We say all-but confirmed because, for the time being, Xbox is calling this a "REDACTED Direct" while being rather sheepish with any other information. However, we know that longtime Black Ops developer Treyarch is making this year's Call of Duty game, and Black Ops has long been synonymous with bold orange imagery - and iconography just like the example in the picture up above.
"Like our double-feature last year with Starfield Direct, immediately following the Showcase we’ll be airing a special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise. We can’t say much, so for now we’ll call it the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct."
There's more, too. Microsoft says this Direct will deliver "a special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise" — which Call of Duty definitely is — and we also know that a new CoD will release this year, making a Black Ops deep-dive even more likely. Remember, last year's Xbox Direct was all about Starfield - a game that was also confirmed to be launching just a few months after the showcase.
Look, there's an outside chance that this could relate to a different game entirely, but we'd eat our own hats if this doesn't turn out to be the next Treyarch Call of Duty game. Okay, maybe not really eat our own hats, but you know, we're pretty confident that a big CoD Direct is coming here. We're mere weeks away from finding out officially anyway, as Microsoft has just unveiled all the dates and times for this year's show.
Are you as confident as us here? Or do you think this could be something else entirely? Let us know what you think down below.

And my interest is totally lost. 😂
It's still wild to think about how xbox's current first party consists of what would have been 3 major e3 shows. I'm expecting a fantastic June showcase.
Hopefully means all the Activision games go onto Game Pass finally.
Having COD will get more subscriptions for Game Pass but not sure that it will shift consoles. Should be interesting to see the numbers in the coming months.
Woah I'm sure no one cares about call of duty the games a joke
Just hope the new cod is day one game pass so Its a potential game to play with the kids
@Dan1283 yeah,I mean you can see from the sales of the game who’s the real joke
Kinda hope it's not COD, it's not exactly a franchise that requires a "deep dive", and that's not me "dismissing" CoD entries are fairly standardised unless, of cause, this is the long prophesized CoD that will transform the series taking it in a new direction.

Think way too many people are downplaying COD. Treyarch has had over 4 years on this one and it’s also important for Marketing and correlating COD with Xbox again. Getting in the COD bros and having them maybe also play the likes of Avowed and Indy will help with player numbers for all of Xbox.
If not free on gamepass then they should offer it discounted.
Looks more like The Division. Just speculating because of the US Capitol building in the logo
Id really love it to be a zombies standalone game due to the dogs/wolves in the picture that are similar to those in the map mobb of the dead but I don't think it will ever happen because the round based mode doesn't really create the best player retention especially for players not being in and out of the menus for micro-transactions because people do a Easter egg or a high round attempt and then rage quit or just quit afterwards but a man can dream I suppose.
Boo! I don't like cod. I want something new.
