Xbox has been drumming up some hype for Fallout recently on the eve of the series' Amazon Prime TV debut, and long-time Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard has also been talking about the franchise in a new interview with Den of Geek - including a cheeky mention of 'Fallout 5'.
When discussing the TV show's direction and where the story sits alongside the games, Todd was keen to point out that whilst the show will tell an original story, it won't tell certain story beats that he wants to keep locked down for Fallout 5.
"Well, there were some things where I said, ‘Don’t do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5, [...] It wasn’t the translation of an existing story. It was, what would the next thing be? It just happens to be a TV show."
Of course, at the moment Fallout 5 feels like a bit of a pipe dream. It'll happen one day, hopefully, but in the wake of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios is almost certain to be all-in on The Elder Scrolls 6. Even so, Todd seems to have story ideas mapped out for the next Fallout game, even if it's years and years away at this point.
What comes a little closer is this upcoming Amazon Prime adaptation. Expect 'Fallout' to premiere on the streaming service this April, with the full first season dropping on day one.
