The team at Rare has delivered its deep dive into Sea Of Thieves Season 11, featuring a major change to how quests can be tackled going forward. Yep, the game's new 'Diving' mechanic allows players to effectively fast travel to quests rather than need to sail the high seas towards an objective.
This is an optional way of moving around the world, and players can still chill out with their crew if they'd like to take their time moving to quests. There seems to be a trade-off for diving too, so the mechanic will provide players a new choice as Sea of Thieves moves into its 11th season.
Elsewhere, most of the game's trading companies will get "major expansions" in this upcoming season, so you can expect to get more mileage out of those too. As expected, Sea of Thieves Season 11 is also bringing plenty of new loot items to the game - the new content drops on January 23rd.
You can check out Season 11's new features in the gameplay video up at the top of this article, and expect Rare to drop more tidbits of info between now and the season's launch. We'll see you diving under the high seas next week!

OMG THANK YOU!
One thing I absolutely hated about Sea of Thieves was wanting to continue (and/or start) a Questline only to be spawned a good distance away from where I need to be.
For someone that may only have like an hour of playtime, spending the first 20 minutes getting back to where I need absolutely killed enjoyment - moreso if some jackwagon attacks my ship while I'm trying to get where I need to go.
That being said, I love sailing in Sea of Thieves - it's truly the most realistic feeling of being on the open seas I have experienced in a game (from wave behavior to the sounds of splashing water to the creaking of the ship), so I'd only use the Dive system to get back to where I needed to be and then "play proper" from then on.
Excellent. Two of my only annoyances have been fixed: public lobbies only and long travel times. Sailing is really well done but sometimes I just don't have the time.
Keep in mind that you cannot dive with loot on your boat. It only really is for starting your quests.
I can see how this is great to make it more accessible, but as someone who plays regularly for years, this is not the content that I wanted!
