At the moment we have quite a few Xbox exclusives locked in for 2024, including Hellblade 2, Avowed and Towerborne - just to name a few! Now, it looks like we might have another big first-party to game to add to that list of 2024 releases.
Compulsion Games' South of Midnight — first unveiled at this year's summer showcase — didn't get any sort of launch window during its announcement trailer. However, Microsoft PR manager Brad Hilderbrand has the game listed as one of their '2024' projects on LinkedIn - as spotted by Xbox fans online.
If this is like lots of other sneaky LinkedIn updates we've seen recently, it'll probably be altered once Xbox catches wind of the news, but at the time of writing, it's still live on Hilderbrand's profile. If it disappears soon, we'll have tweets such as the one up above as proof!
As for when exactly we might see this one launch - who knows really. The game was only revealed this summer, but Compulsion Games released We Happy Few on Xbox way back in 2018, so the team has been working on South of Midnight for some time. Let's hope it makes 2024 and we end up with a stacked first-party lineup next year.
Interested in seeing more from South of Midnight? Tell us if you think it'll make 2024 down below.

I am just going to assume that all games that come out in the future will be Souls-Like games until I read something that says they are Not a souls-like game.
It has been a while since We Happy Few was released. That game was surprisingly fun, so I am excited to see what they can create with Xbox backing them.
I am really looking forward to this one! Looks fantastic!
So far don't know much about the game but Compulsion is quite a creative developer and that's why I'm looking forward to it.
Excellent. This looks more interesting to me than Hellblade, honestly. It looks like it could be potentially more interesting than Avowed as well.
So many xbox games in 2024. My gaming belly will be full!
This one just went on to my most wanted list. Looks great but I somehow missed it previously.
I like the style and setting of this one, on my wishlist! I keep hearing about all these games in 2024, but out of genuine interest do any them have an actual release date. I only ask because AAA delays seem to be more prevalent than ever
Is it too much to ask for there to be another Gears of War game? I'd prefer Gears 6, but I'll happily settle for Gears Tactics 2. Come on, make me a happy bunny... 😂
The animation and art direction are great in this, fingers crossed it makes 2024.
gameplay, we want gameplay trailers.
I am not expecting to want to play South of Midnight as I wasn't much of a fan of their previous games - I am not expecting a AAA massive budget/big team game - something more akin to We Happy Few.
As for 2024, time will tell - but I never really look beyond the 'next' release coming. All the other projects in development are only of 'interest' and want to see/hear more before I can get excited by any game. By the time its 'next' to release, I'll know whether to be 'excited', interested to see how it reviews or lost interest entirely. At the moment, I have 'no' Xbox game I'm 'excited' for as I haven't seen/heard enough yet to be 'excited' and I don't know what is actually next to release.
I'm 'not' excited for any game in 2024 - yet. Nothing is 'close' to release that I am excited to play - although there is a LOT of games that I am very interested in...
My Gamepass sub is up in a couple weeks and I'm not going to miss it. Xbox better step it up with their first party games if they want people to fork over $18 a month. In order for Gamepass to be "the best value in gaming" like the fanboys claim; I'm going to need 3 games a year I'm willing to pay $70 on release for. I bet MS can't pull that off.
I somehow missed the announcement of this. From watching the trailer, this looks very interesting and creative!
Cool artstyle. I’m interested.
@ValkyriaProfile it is not like we know much about the game lol. All we have seen is a cutscene...
@Serpentes420 make sure gp auto renew is off!
@Serpentes420 It's completely subjective. Personally I get more than enough value out of my subscription. It's not really about the first party titles for me, it's all the other titles. I literally played over 20 games via Game Pass this year, and tried another dozen or so risk free. I discovered several games I likely wouldn't have bought but ended up loving, it widens my gaming range. The Day 1 first party games are just the icing on the cake for me. Plus there are other benefits like playing Xcloud in bed for slower games, or when away from home.
That's not to say it's for everyone, it isn't, i'm not trying to convince you or anyone, just saying it's not only Xbox fanboys who love the service. (If anything i'm occasionally accused of being a Sony fanboy by a few here. lol)
@rustyduck Good advice! I need to make sure of it today.
Not sure how anyone can be excited for this, there's no indication as the what the game will be like..it could be walking sim for all we know. Call me when clockwork revolution gets a release date
