As Rare gets closer to its Season Ten update for its pirate-themed sandbox Sea Of Thieves, a new development announcement has been made.
The UK Bristol-based team Auroch Digital (Warhammer: 40,000 Boltgun) has signed on to create some "hearty cosmetics" for Sea of Thieves, which will be premiering in the latest season when it goes live on 19th October.
"Auroch worked closely with Rare to develop some gorgeous thematic cosmetic sets that you’ll be able to see in Season Ten and beyond. With these Seasons bringing in new game features every few months alongside regular in-game Events, Sea of Thieves is a service-based game that’s still growing and evolving."
This isn't the first time Rare has called on the support of other teams to assist development of Sea of Thieves. One other team that's supported the game is Flix Interactive, helping out with updates to the live service, combat, mechanics, and physical ship damage.
This announcement follows the news Rare will be introducing a PvE "Safer Seas" mode in Season Ten. The company also seems to be busy with its next game, Everwild.

@Kaloudz I hope thats the case! It will be great to see something new from this studio and Im very much looking foward to seeing the progress they are making.
So this is that they've contracted out the cosmetic design off to another studio to free up in house artists right? So we'll be getting the same amount of cosmetic rewards rather than both Rare and Auroch.
Fun fact, Auroch developed the critically acclaimed Space Marine: Boltgun. Never knew a small indie studio could be developing cosmetics for a AAA one. Really cool to see!
Does anyone know if the Monkey Island cosmetics will be gone for good soon, or if they will get shuffled down the Emporium, and possibly available for a year?
@Kaloudz
It seems obvious to me that Rare has done a massive change in direction with Everwild. We don't know how far along they were when the change was formally made and how big of a change it was to what they were doing. Also, AAA games are taking longer to make now-a-days. There are a lot of quiet studios out there.
To me, the game gets done when it is done. As long as MS consistently delivers at least 4 AAA games per year, I am not concerned about any one studio's development hells. I am more concerned what is happening across all studios together. With AKB acquisition next week hopefully 4 AAA games per year should not be a stretch.
