There's been a little bit of confusion surrounding the launch of Ubisoft's popular free-to-play shooter XDefiant and whether it'll be available on Xbox One (and PS4) when it arrives, and now we finally have an answer.
As expected, XDefiant won't be coming to Xbox One or PS4 at launch this summer - instead, it'll be available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 and PC. The last-gen versions are still being worked on for a later date, however.
"Launch will be on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. We're working on last-gen platforms for later."
XDefiant most recently made an appearance on Xbox as part of a free open beta which seemed to go down well, and we wouldn't be surprised if another beta arrived soon as Ubisoft continues to tweak things ahead of release.
There's still no official date for the full version aside from "later this summer", but we'll obviously let you know when more information is revealed. It should end up proving one of the most popular free-to-play Xbox games of 2023!
Excited for XDefiant? Sad about the lack of Xbox One support at launch? Tell us in the comments.

Nothing wrong with that. Priority to current gen and then last gen.
@Kaloudz it feels like that, too. I played a couple rounds in the beta and it was wonderful
Tried the beta and really liked what i played I'll definitely be putting some hours into this at launch reminded me of the good old days of CoD.
@Kaloudz Disclaimer alert!! I am NOT saying this game will dent the juggernaut sales of COD. I have not played the beta so i can not even say how it feels yet. With the disclaimer out of the way.
I just want to say to all the Sony fan’s that attacked us online for saying Sony should make shooters and not rely on COD sales. “But but if mean big money MS takes COD off the PS they will fail, you can’t just make a COD shooter overnight’ And then Ubisoft drops this and shows, you don’t need a COD killer. You just need good games and run them right and players will support you. I wasn’t asking Sony to make some genre defying FPS. But they only make action/Adventure games and then when the ABK deal got announced it was like everyone defending Sony for relying on one shooter to carry the system. They have Socom, Resistance, Killzone or even a new IP. But they want the free easy money of COD and not compete against it and their fan’s took it out on us and supported Sony’s mistake of not having a 1st party shooter. I hope this game does well and gives COD some competition. We would all win from that. I will be giving this game a try when it launches and drop it for Quake reboot. Haha
I don't get what all the hype is about with this game. I played the beta and wasn't impressed. The maps are way too small, to the point where you often get spawn camped. The graphics are incredibly last gen and so is the gunplay. Got old fast. I'm desperate for something new in the genre too and this ain't it for me...
@Kaloudz agreed! I think this might be the one though, really.
@BrilliantBill yeah excellent points. I mean i am not a BR guy. I don’t want to build and not see an enemy for 8-10 mins. I like the fast paced shooters. COD has for sure changed over the years and many players dislike the bigger maps with smaller player counts. I would love to see Battlefield get its act right. I want ID to reboot quake. Can’t wait for Gears of war something. Be it a collection of the first 3 or just Gears 6. I play those online a ton. Almost 600 hours in Gears 5 multiplayer player. But i agree Sony never had a Halo killer. But i liked some of those games as variety. PS4 was super boring to me with action/Adventure game after another. Good games but no variety. I am happy to see PS5 widening their variety tho. I will support that more.
@Kaloudz thanks buddy, again Sony wanted that easy money on COD and bought marketing rights and said our shooters are taken care of. Well that is a mistake cause now they are in court crying over COD, that they aren’t even losing and yet here is Ubisoft just making a fun looking shooter that will gain a few COD players. That’s how you survive in this industry. Keep the mouth closed, put your head down and create great games that get’s our attention.
@Kaloudz yep, and i can’t wait to see how fast Sony signs that 10 year deal. I bet it will happen within a day of MS closing the deal with ABK.
@Kaloudz HHAHAHA or as quick as they tried to sign Starfield exclusive only to find out MS bought the whole studio. LOL
