Developer Sabotage has announced that its upcoming Xbox Game Pass title Sea of Stars has officially gone gold! While work will no doubt continue behind the scenes on post-launch support, the game should be immune from future delays and be ready to go for Game Pass players on August 29th.

This pixelart RPG made headlines earlier this week for its surprise inclusion in both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra at launch. You don't see games arrive for both services on day one very often, if ever!

Didn’t even know this game existed until a couple months ago but it looks really solid. I’m excited for it to drop on GamePass.
Can't help but feel this game is coming out one week too late. A long old school RPG is awesome but a week after launch Starfield comes out and I just know this is going to get left half finished in my backlog club

Commenting on this but where is Pure Xbox’s story on Final Fantasy 14 coming to Xbox?!? It was a mic drop moment at the FF Fan show today with Phil Spencer dropping in!
@pip_muzz the Switch release means far more to this game than gamepass. Gamepass is just free money to them. The Switch is the important console for Sea of Stars. That's why it was Switch announced 6 months before the other - less consequential consoles.
Slighty rough one that within a few days the majority of gamepass players will be jumping onto Starfield. I wish they had launched this at the end of this month or middle of August.

@awp69 Square Enix's new CEO also promises better xbox support so hopefully Final Fantasy 14 is just the start. Hopefully they'll also allow us to transfer my accojnt from PS5 to Xbox as I don't want to start a third time.

@Friendly @GunValkyria after 16s failure I expect all future not Switch designed games to come here. I bet SE will be begging, hat in hand, for them to be on gamepass in the future.
Personally I don't care if nary a one SE game ever releases on the X - but the gnashing of Sony teeth would be entertaining. So for that - bring it on.
@cragis0001 You've always been able to play the same account on PS and PC so it should be transferrable. You'll likely just have to but the game again on Xbox
@Cashews In what way is 16 a failure? It's sold very well for being PS5 only at the moment.

Surprising to many that FF actually always has relatively low sales.
@Kevw2006 It didn't sell well. I'm not going to go into it. There is plenty already written on it. Investors don't give two ****s if it "PS5 only" they care about raw sales data and it was a bust.
The negativity surrounding the title is increasing on the daily and will only continue once they start doing their quarterlies in front of major investors who aren't the unsophisticated gamer set.
I expect them to announce 16 on this console soon unless they are bound on contract with sony. If for no other reason than to assuage nervous investors.
That's why they just did the FF14 announcement. The company is doing very poorly.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner FF was an absolute beast in the PS1-PS3-360 era.
It wasn't niche at all. On the PS1 it was the defining system seller with 7. On the PS2 it was right behind Gran Turismo and GTA. Then they started to falter. Now they are small.
I see big changes at SE very soon. New CEO will start firing lots of people or he will be ousted by the end of the 2024.
@Cashews 3 million in its first week isn't selling well? Square Enix are on recorded saying they're happy with the sales, a company that's notorious for having high standards on sales is happy with it, isn't that enough?
They've been working on an Xbox version of 14 for years now, the time was just never right. It was always going to happen.

@Cashews Don't get me wrong, it could have done better but calling it a failure is a touch extreme.
@Kevw2006 problem with PlayStation though once the account was linked I wouldn't be able to say play on Xbox un else they change it. I can't access my old PS4 account so lost my first. & second is linked to my sons PS5 so likely have to restart next year.
