Playststion has Spiderman 2, wolverine, Naughty dog game, insomniac game, death stranding 2, and loads of GasS games.
Comparing the two is incredible, just look at how much xbox has in the pipes.
I have both consoles and I'm not comparing as a means to start anything, just highlighting the significance of xbox over Playstation. After 3 years, Sony fired all its ammo. Xbox has nukes ready to go haha
@Zoidpilot4 Comparing the two is also kind of pointless as this is only what they have chose to announce. We all know that both MS and Sony have devs that are working on unannounced projects, neither have "fired all their ammo" by any means.
So just Starfield for me this year then, and Hellblade 2 and Avowed for next year if they don't get delayed. Hopefully there's more than that in the works to be released over the next 18 months. Still hopeful of a Gears collection coming next year and possibly State of Decay 3 or a shadow drop like Hi-Fi Rush.
Looking good.
Please remember that there are unannounced titles to be added to this fantastic list.
Elder Scrolls VI giving away how long the “upcoming” timeline might be…
I have a weird craving to try flight sim again. I tried it briefly to see how good it looked and to fly over my house. I kinda want to get good at it before cliffhanger sim 24 comes out.
I completely forgot about Age of Empires 4 releasing on console 😅
So that, Forza, and Starfield will be my games this fall. All 3 of those titles are huge time-sinks as well so that’s all I’ll need.
Not another dreaded Xbox JPEG. Not more “exciting times ahead” I look forward to actual exiting times.
@Kevw2006 It's called an opinion, don't worry about it
This is one of the reasons I got my Series X, Xbox just offers a great variety of games. And seeing that PlayStation is moving to live service which I absolutely can't be bothered about, I'm thrilled with the Xbox direction.
@BRT15 The live service games worry me. I think it might kill Sony if they're not careful.
Woah the future looks good for xbox to be honest all these great games coming I know last year was pretty bad but this year has been good overall obviously except redfall next year will be amazing just has long as avowed or hellblade 2 don't get delayed that's what's causing xbox the problems the delays
@Zoidpilot4 No worries here, it just always amuses me when someone says they're not wanting to start something and then follows it up with a statement that is directly going to start something lol.
@Stocksy Then go play with your PlayStation. Exciting times are indeed ahead for Xbox fans. Clear that you aren’t one of them.
These are an amazing set of games and I don’t know how anyone could expect better.
@UltimateOtaku91 I'm less confident about Gears collection happening given collections of games is the only thing from the Kinda Funny interview comment which didn't appear in the showcase:
"I can say now and everybody can already stop [with] 'I don't want to hear what Phil has to say about the future' and I fully respect that point of view, [but] we've got Starfield coming, we've got Forza coming, we've got Hellblade coming, like we've got collections of games, I'm seeing very good builds of Avowed... I can see it, but until you have a controller in your hand and you're smiling from playing our games, none of my words should matter."

So based on what's happened the past week, it feels like the hint was for Activision collections (e.g. Skylanders, Heretic/Hexen) rather than stuff like Gears.
@Markatron84 I deleted my comment after misreading. I read you got autism too so I don't need to explain how it's hard sometimes to make sense of words haha.
@Zoidpilot4 deleted mine too. Us neurodivergents need to stick together 😉
@Markatron84 Always loved the term neurodivergents, and what's even more ironic is how we can actually resolve a misunderstanding yet the "normal" humans can't. haha
@Kevw2006 I think I'm having an off day. Usually I concentrate on what people are typing, must be tired. I deleted my response anyway =)
Good times for us Xbox gamers. I just hope they don't forget smaller scale titles like Pentiment and HiFi Rush.
Starfield and Towerborne are my most looked forward to. Gonna be great.
I was hoping some of those announced so far titles would be 2024. Man, it’s been a rough go since 2020. Hopefully Starfield is the tide change we need.
@Amigator smaller titles tend to be announced way closer to release. I expect obsidian at least to always have at least one small project cooking.
@somnambulance some might still be expected to release in 2024, but they are not certain enough to slap a date there. It’s not unrealistic to expect some of the undated stuff to potentially arrive fall 2024.
Honestly, some of the 2024 stuff might not make it until fall, but dare bet the reason they got listed with a 2024 date is because they actually expect most of them to release by summer. If they slip a few months, they still won’t be accused of “lying again”.
I hope outer worlds 2 has some romance options, I am super glad Starfield will have them, always loved that mass effect kind of game and was sad that the OG OW didn't have any options.
@Tharsman I don’t think they’re lying, I’m just hoping we get another game or two next year. Really honestly hoping South by Midnight makes it next year. I do miss the good old days of us having more general release windows. I sort of feel like the gaming industry is too cagey with regards to that kind of stuff now.
Wow, what a list of games. Finally seeing the results of all its studio purchases. Add Banjo and Viva Piñata and you have the perfect list 🙂
Looking like it's all beginning to slot into place with no massive game droughts going forwards. (I hope I'm not speaking to soon🤣)
I'm sure that maybe some of the upcoming games won't come out as soon as some people expect - a delay or two, but this is just what MS Studios have announced so far. Some games may also be ready in 2024 that aren't yet in the 2024 section - just listed as 'upcoming'.
That's not counting ALL the ID@Xbox 'exclusives' (timed or otherwise) or the newly announced Project with 'People can Fly' either. For Game Pass Subscribers, its also not including all the 3rd Party games coming to that service Day 1 - like Lies of P or Payday 3, let alone any third Party Exclusives (like High on Life was) that will also release.
This is just a 'fraction' of the Games - just the ones Published by Microsoft (inc Contraband and Kojimas project that aren't made by 'Xbox' owned Studios. This 'could' also change IF/WHEN MS acquire ABK too...
Also shows they have released '23' games (according to the graphic) in 3.5yrs - not too bad...
@somnambulance
I did not mean to imply you stated they were lying, but you seen the reactions. If they think a game will make it November 24 but unforeseen situations force them to delay to March, you know a bunch of players will come out screaming that Phil lied and he should be fired. So I am holding my hope that anything they slapped with a 2024 date is indeed expected to launch next year for certain, without any doubts, and for that, it must mean they are (so far) internally expecting early-ish next year.
BTW I too miss the days that games were smaller and come out more regularly.
@BAMozzy
Yea, MS owned studios have indeed delivered a good amount of games, the perception problem right now lies in that the titles are either not xbox exclusives (Deathloop/Psychonauts/Ghostwire), or not triple A (Pentiment/ Hi-Fi Rush/Grounded) or simply not narrative games (Flight Simulator/Age of Empires/Forza Horizon)
For some reason, the console warrior segment of video games only cares about narrative games, fighting games, or multiplayer shooters.
@Tharsman I think there’s a market that wants those smaller “big” titles and that’s where a lot of the complaining may come from. We hear a lot about how games take so much longer to develop, but then see live service games and games that are 40, 60, 80 hours long most of the time, which, yeah, those would take a longer time to develop and it’s possible studios don’t quite know how long a game will take, given changes in the gaming environment.
For me, I miss that feeling of expectation and awareness in gaming. I just want more transparency with timeframes. Give me a delay as long as it’s honest and with time to spare, you know? We all know a game isn’t ready to be released sometimes and it should be apparent more than a month before release. There are simple things to change and potentially remedy issues.
@Tharsman I hope you are right, I loved Pentiment.
@somnambulance I don't care when a game releases and only really start to 'look' forward to it when its the next new game I want to play that's releasing. Until then, there are so many games to play - either in my backlog, from Subs (Gold/PS+ or Game Pass) or new games coming between now and the 'next' big MS game.
Game Pass too isn't just about 'Starfield' or 'Forza', and if you only really want to play Starfield, its not really 'worth' it - not with ALL those other games coming - Lies of P, Payday 3, Persona, numerous indies and other great experiences...
The future will come round soon enough but its quite nice to know the 'near' future has a lot of potential to be great for Xbox in particular as a Game Publisher and creator of games that I am not worried about what studio are working on, What I can look forward to coming out eventually. As someone who doesn't really care for GaaS, I don't have the same feeling with Sony for example - just SM2 & Wolverine to feel 'confident' the near future will be OK - even if things take a bit longer than expected to realise....
@Tharsman I know, I point it out enough that Games are still enjoyable, can still occupy your leisure time etc regardless of whether they are AAA or much smaller in budget/scale - often much larger in heart or character, whether they are Exclusive or can be enjoyed by far more people - games are still games regardless... Vampire Survivors beat GoW:R and H:FWto best game of the year at the BAFTAs and Minecraft too proves that AAA graphics can be just 'Style' over any real Substance...
But you know that - shame others don't and refuse to count anything that doesn't appeal directly to them, AAA budget 90+ metacritic 'EXCLUSIVES' only. Minecraft Dungeons and Legends get forgotten and you don't hear MoJang mentioned at all as an Xbox owned Studio by gamers - the biggest selling Game ever...
@BAMozzy See, I’ve been gaming over 30 years and have been following the medium pretty deeply for at least 20 years, so, for the most part, I’ve played the games that I’ve wanted to as they’ve released. After 2020 (which afforded me A LOT of free time), I sort of hit that breaking point where I either acknowledged the games I’m unlikely to actually go back to and finally completed the games I felt like I missed out on (or made a plan that worked out well). The past three years, I’ve beaten almost every game I’ve purchased (or let the mistakes I’ve purchased be mistakes, and that’s fine… and of course this includes Gamepass and PS+ games as “time purchases”). For me, Gamepass is more for those big titles and for the really solid indies. There’s always plenty to look forward to, of course. I’m meticulous and get more and more semantic with my time the older I get, so release dates help me plan out my time for months and years at a time (leaving myself a rough 20-ish% gap for spontaneity). Yes, I overthink it all, so the constant news wheel of updates is of great joy to me. The more info, the happier I am. I feel like Xbox is so close to being just transparent enough. I can see it happening, whereas Sony is becoming continually more frustrating to follow.
all these xbox games will come to you at a blazing 30 fps.....take cover!
Did I imagine it or was there also a Fallout 4 next-gen (current gen?!) upgrade announced earlier this year?
This is really great, but I can't help myself to think that Everwild will probably never see the light of day... Come on, Rare ! Sea of Thieves is great, but give us something else' already !
There’s a LOT of potentially great games coming. But it still feels like a lot are too far away.
Hopefully more than Avowed, Hellblade 2, Towerborne and MSFS’24 hit in 2024.
Edit: Elder Scrolls 6 on the list is a bit of stretch. Do we think we will even see that this gen?
Tharsman wrote:
I’m not sure that’s quite right. I think the perception problem is too many of these are slightly niche games by comparison. Perhaps selling a few million copies (if game pass didn’t exist to muddle the numbers) but not the sort of system sellers that will sell 10+ million and sell consoles en masse. (That isn’t fighting games either for example.)
I don’t think it’s about console warriors, it’s about what the wider mass audience will buy in the millions and what will sell consoles. Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing these aren’t narrative games, fighting games, or multiplayer shooters… but they do sell consoles when they are 90+ rated.
@Moonglow I think 4 per year is absolutely fine if good games, I just thought 2024 was going to be a particularly bumper year for Xbox (and it still might be) but if only those 4 release it’s just personally not the best for me. That’s all I’m saying. Yes ABK and their 10,000+ staff will add a huge amount too.
Not fussed by live services as their model is always cynical to eat up time, and to keep you playing. Time is the one thing I don’t have much of.
I'm mostly just hyped for Bethesda's games with a tentative eye towards Avowed. My hopes for Fable are kinda shattered after that recent cinematic, it doesn't look or feel Fable at all.
I hope Avowed is better than Outer Worlds was at least.
@Moonglow quality over quantity. Xbox has Forza M, we know how that will be, it has Starfield which looks incredible but we just don’t know yet. Everyone’s hoping it lives up to the hype, that’s it!! Flight Sim will be great, Age of Empires is wat it is. The rest may be incredible games or they could be more Redfall!! Spiderman 2, Wolverine, TLOU Factions, Ghost of Tsushima 2, KOTOR, all guaranteed to be incredible games!!
where the hell is gears!?
