Today marks the arrival of another update for Cyberpunk 2077 - specifically Update 1.63. On the whole, this update is dedicated to addressing gameplay issues and quest fixes, but there are also a couple of Xbox-specific changes.
The first of these is that the number of available save slots on Xbox is now 20 for manual saves and 10 for Point of No Return saves. If you're already exceeding that limit, you'll need to delete some saves before creating any new ones.
And specifically for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S players, CD Projekt Red has implemented a performance fix for an issue which was causing issues after playing for an "extended period of time".
We'll throw the full patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.63 down below.
Quests
- Fixed an issue where selecting a blue dialogue option while calling Mitch twice could cause the call to be permanently stuck on the screen.
- All Along the Watchtower - Fixed an issue where V gets flatlined after crossing the border.
- Chippin' In - It is now possible to examine all of the clues on Ebunike before becoming detected.

- Only Pain - Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to complete the "Defeat the cops" objective because the cops weren't present at the intended location.
- Play It Safe - Fixed an issue where holograms and platforms in the parade disappeared after an Auto Save was loaded.
- Play It Safe - Fixed an issue where Takemura didn't call to start the parade mission.
- Pyramid Song - Fixed an issue where Judy teleported underground after entering the church.

- Gig: Guinea Pigs - All the security robots in the hotel now properly engage in combat.

- Fixed an issue where the FSR toggle wasn't grayed out after restarting the game with Dynamic Resolution Scaling on.
Visual
- Fixed an issue where some surfaces had color artifacts when Path Tracing was enabled.
- Fixed an issue where bright, colorful flashes appeared at the edges of certain objects when DLSS was enabled.
PC-specific

I still haven't returned to Cyberpunk after playing an hour or so at release. After reaching my 'crib', I decided to wait knowing that a 'Series X' patch was coming and of course, there were TONS of issues that needed fixing, so I decided to wait until at least the Series X patch, yet I still haven't returned.
Its one of those 'Backlog' games that I will play, but with many games in my Backlog, let alone GPU, Gold, PS+ games I also have access to, I don't know when I'll get to return - but I'd rather return to this than spend more than $50 to play a 'newly' released game.
That reminds me of Skyrim on the Xbox 360, by the end of my 200+ hour save load times were over a minute and in some places over 2 minutes. Was painful. Playing it on Series X at a smooth 60fps and with a couple of seconds load time was a literal game changer.
Like @BAMozzy I haven't been back yet. However hearing about all the changes they are making to the core game to sync with the next gen only DLC I am now going to wait.
@themightyant Seeing this list of Quest, open world and other fixes being rolled out even this long after release, I haven't yet been convinced its actually where I want it to be in order to return.
I hadn't considered the DLC at all. As someone who only dipped my toe in at launch and haven't returned, the DLC is pretty meaningless to me at this point in time as I haven't played the main Storyline yet or even ventured out into the City. Therefore I had no plan to purchase the DLC until I have played a decent amount of the base game to know whether or not I'll end up playing it. If I haven't played or enjoying the Base game, I'm not purchasing DLC LOL
I may not end up returning at all, despite my intention to do so, but I could also decide one day to give it try and get hooked. If there are 'changes' planned in the near future due to that DLC, that too doesn't make me want to return sooner...
@BAMozzy The updates they are bringing are not specific to the DLC, they will be in the main game too. They were discussing them during not-E3 with press/influencers and include things like a completely re-write of the much maligned police system, re-written skill trees etc.
What I was suggesting is it's probably best to wait until these arrive at the same time as the DLC (sept 26) IF you think you will come back.
@BAMozzy It has been at an enjoyable state ever since the Series X/PS5 versions finally were released. The new gen versions made a huge difference from the launch versions on their own. Obviously everybody is different, but when I played it on PS5, it was highly enjoyable and well worth waiting on that version. Games of this size are always going to have lengthy patch notes for most of the time they are supported.
Like @themightyant said though, if you've waited this long, you might as well wait until the DLC drops with even more changes.
I'm actually really looking forward to replay this game after hearing of all the changes they've made for the expansion. So far all the previews from journalists and YouTubers have been glowing.
I'm guessing this update is not that update and that update comes later with the expansion. I'm sure that sentence makes a lot of sense. 😂
@KilloWertz @themightyant Interesting - as I said above, with the list of fixes listed above still coming out after more than 2yrs, nearly 3yrs after release, I haven't felt like the game was truly fixed yet - at least not to a point where I want to return.
If things are changing again that will 'improve' the base game, then again that doesn't make me want to return before the DLC arrives but as more and more time goes by, more and more games are in my Backlog too competing for my gaming time.
As I said, I have every intention of returning to it, but life and other things get in the way. Its obviously a huge time sink of a game and I tend to want a good few hours (if not more) in a single session to 'start' playing games like this. So if I have an hour or so, I don't feel inclined to start playing this.
As I said, I have intended to jump back in at some point but as yet, I haven't. I did intend to try the Series X/PS5 patch (I have it on both Platforms) but either I haven't felt I had the time to dedicate to it and/or the fact that there was still some 'minor' issues has meant that I haven't yet returned.
As I said, I have every intention to return, but I can't say for certain I will. I have 'older' games in my backlog too that I wanted to finish, I have some games I haven't really started yet (FC6 I haven't yet removed the Cellophane LOL) and want to play 'newer' games as well. Its having so much choice and not enough time to play everything.
Hearing this about the changes coming with the DLC only makes me not want to play it 'now', but wait longer. Its the same with Redfall, I played a 'bit' of that, got to firestation and quit the game - because I know that fixes and 60fps patch are expected and I won't return until at least the 60fps patch now because I know its coming and therefore, wait...
@themightyant you should have tried playing Skyrim on PS3, that same issue reduced gameplay to single digit performance 🙈. Still got the platinum though.
I bought the Cyberpunk One X so originally played the game on Xbox at launch for a little while. I've since beat the game on a high end PC and loved it, then recently installed it on Series X and was pleasantly surprised with how it looks and runs and that 10 hour save file will form the basis of my next playthrough when the dlc comes.
As for bugs, I can't really think of any I've encountered for quite some time now, it's nice they're still optimising it but it's already in a great place. That being said I'd still recommend new players wait until the dlc and the improvements drop as they sound like pretty substantial additions
Anyone here that was overwhelmed by the game at first but liked it after a while? I loved the setting/atmosphere but couldn’t get to grips with the menu and map, so I quit probably too soon. After all the positive comments I’m wondering if I should give it a second try though.
@Darude84 When I first played this on release (PS4 version), every single side job and fixer mission was available straight away which cluttered the map and made it seem daunting as to where to start. After the patches, you'd only get a few side jobs and fixer missions at first and more would become available after completing them and also depending on your street cred level. It made the game much better and wouldn't stress you out with the map littered with icons.
I think the game is best played as a linear story driven game rather than an open world game. Letting the story missions take you to different parts of Night City and the Badlands rather that going off and exploring them yourself just feels better. Johnny is a lot more talkative that way, too.
Bloody love this game.
@ApostateMage Thanks!
@Darude84 pretty much what @ApostateMage says and also it doesn't do the best job explaining what all the cyberware can do and in conjunction with you r skill tree choices. Over time they start to make sense but it could be worth waiting until the new dlc comes as the base game is getting more updates to tidy this up and make it better.
I've now done a couple of playthroughs now and very much looking forward to a third soon
I started Cyberpunk again this week after dropping it a while ago. I’m still not that impressed with it. Early days but the story isn’t gripping me and the music is awful imo, the music actually annoys me.
This is the last chance if it doesn’t hold my attention this time I’ll probably never play it again.
CDPR games for me are borderline unplayable due to horrible UI, such as inventory, quest management, controls are rigid and very clunky.
Shame since story and most everything else is great. If they could just copy how Skyrim managed all the above be such fantastic games. Quit playing Witcher 2 and 3 due to this. Eventually same for cyberpunk. Also with cyberpunk something with combination of controls, display, motion, etc, gave me a headache and felt very dizzy. Only other game do that to me was first Rage game on 360.
