As if we didn't have enough ways to earn Microsoft Rewards points, we've now got another one! The new update for Microsoft Edge on desktop PCs allows you to acquire hundreds of points for barely doing anything at all.
(Note: We haven't tried doing this on the Xbox browser yet, but we know PC works for definite).
You can access it by first updating Microsoft Edge (go to "Settings" and then "About Microsoft Edge" - you'll see the option for updates in here), and then you'll need to activate the "Action Centre". Here's how to do it:
- Click the big Microsoft Bing icon in the top-right corner of the screen to open the sidebar
- Hit the plus symbol underneath the various icons on the right
- Look for the "Action Centre" app, and click the button next to it to turn it on
- You can now find the Action Centre by hitting the bell icon on the right-hand side
From here, you should see the ability to complete various tasks under "Explore Microsoft Edge" that will give you hundreds of points for very easy work. The number of points you can earn seems random - some people are reporting just a few hundred points, while others have mentioned the ability to earn over 1000 points this way.
In addition to this, some Microsoft Rewards users have been spotting a punch card on Microsoft Edge in which you can "check in to Microsoft products daily to build the puzzle for 1000 points". We haven't seen this ourselves, and it seems a lot of people haven't - but apparently you may have some success by clearing your cookies in order to find it.
You might even spot another one - there's a 1500-point card for chatting with Bing, but again, we haven't seen this:
It's possible that more ways to earn points may crop up as well, so please let us know if you spot any! Keep in mind that some regions will likely miss out on this - Microsoft has not provided full details, so we sadly can't advise any further.
Have you been able to grab these free points? Tell us down in the comments section below.

I use Chrome, @FraserG, because I then do not get all the annoying pop ups and adverts (including in YouTube). It costs me nothing. Does Bing offer the same?
@Fiendish-Beaver Hmm, I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.
Keeping the adverts on helps us at Pure Xbox (and Nintendo Life and Push Square), so I never turn them off
Thank you, @FraserG. I knew mentioning no adverts would raise an eyebrow...
This has been around some time, I've done all this but never managed to get the Action Centre to appear in the list, I even tried the dev version of Edge to no avail
@Kaloudz Check the instructions in the article
That's how I did it... you need to make sure Edge is updated first, then follow the instructions to activate the Action Centre.
If you can't see it, it might be because the required update isn't available for you yet.
Definitely working nicely on my laptop. Did try on my Series S but that didn't like it at all and brought it to a complete standstill.
Hmm, weird, I know my Edge is updated, but I don't see it. Must be a UK thing? 🤷♂️
@GamingFan4Lyf Likewise, I updated Edge and I don't see any of that. Maybe it isn't available in my region.
@HarmanSmith Nice Killer7 reference
@GamingFan4Lyf I know, right ? A unique and underrated game, IMHO.
@FraserG Updated Edge, followed instructions and the action center is not an option. This isn’t UK only is it?
@FatalBubbles @HarmanSmith @Kaloudz
For those having problems with the action centre showing up, follow the original and Thier tips on there from 2 months ago

My Edge is up to date and I can't find Action Centre using the guide in the article.

Got 550 points with this. I wonder if they'll renew these missions on a daily/weekly basis?
@deadmaker no it's already been out a few months and nothing else yet
Got the ‘reset’ bug again on my rewards streak this week…happened a couple of weeks back too but then came back after I completed my week. Hopefully same will happen this time…but man, the Xbox dashboard needs some attention. How they’ve let that side of the console slip alone is enough of a red flag consoles an afterthought for Xbox today. I still get the ‘market place needs to update’ message everytime I’m linked into the store. Still broken links doing rewards. Still achievements not registering.
If I used Edge via the Xbox I honestly don’t fancy the Xbox’s chances of survival at this point.
Thanks for the heads up. Found the action center points [in the US]
Thanks for this.
Much appreciated.
@Kaloudz they maybe do more on the future when they have new features but not monthly
Update and now works great cheers from UK
I swear most of this has been around for a while. Been doing them every day on the Xbox browser
Nice. Literally only use Edge for the Rewards points, so I don't mind activating nonsense like this.
Microsoft has been desperately trying to keep their browser relevant since the end of Explorer...I do have bing and use it for answering the quizzes and stuff which I find is a good little distraction (and indeed is good for adding MS points) but I do not use it as my main browser on PC
