Warner Bros. has surprisingly announced a brand-new Harry Potter game for PC and consoles today in the form of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, with playtest signups now live on the game's website.
We don't know too much about Quidditch Champions just yet, other than it's a standalone experience featuring a "competitive, multiplayer setting", allowing you to play solo or team up with friends / random players online.
"Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a complete, standalone Quidditch experience, developed by Unbroken Studios. It engages players in the sport of Quidditch and other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting."
Interestingly, the game has actually been in development for multiple years now at Unbroken Studios, which is a developer that has also been assisting Rocksteady on the recently delayed Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
The first (limited) playtests of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions are set to begin as soon as this week, and you can note your preference for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S when signing up. That said, it should be mentioned that the game's official FAQ page says that the exact consoles for the game "have yet to be confirmed".
How To Sign Up For The Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Playtest
- Visit the Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions website
- Sign into (or create) your WB Games Account
- Fill in the form about your preferences (Xbox is an option)
- Hit "Submit", and then wait to see if you get picked!

So this is why they couldn’t put Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy.
@awp69 Yeah, that was my first thought too.
@awp69 why include everything in one game when they can sell a separate game (full game or microtransactions) to make even more money?
Wow, another live-service game that will probably close in some months after launch... Even though HP fanbase is big, I doubt people will play this on a regular basis.
I wonder if this one will get the boycott and disclaimer treatment.
Exactly the Harry Potter game was hoping for! If is good can see myself playing good but of it.
My daughters are huge Potter fans, but neither has much interest in an open world RPG type game like Legacy, but I bet they'd happily spend a few hours a week playing each other in Quidditch.
Already signed up! Hopefully I'm chosen!
Objectively, this will be a very likely big success. Quidditch has some of the most ardent Potter fan segments out there, there are leagues of Quidditch larpers out there (I do think they treat the "sport" seriously, not as "larp".)
It also perfectly fits the service game model, a fixed set of established rules, and plenty of microtransaction stuff to sell in the form of robes, headgear, tabards and brooms. I wont ever play it, but I can acknowledge this has the potential to be huge.
I’m still playing Hogwarts Legacy and love it, but I’m not a Quidditch fan. Zero interest from me!
Welp explains why it wasn’t in Legacy. JKR going to the bank twice.
Thanks for the info I've signed up to see if I can play test it!
Nah. I'll stick to playing Legacy thanks.
