Halo Infinite Season 3 is now live, as developer 343 Industries launches the game's biggest ever post-launch multiplayer update. Three new maps, a new weapon, a new piece of equipment and more are all available for players to try out within the game's free-to-play multiplayer suite.
Alongside this substantial update is a neat bonus for Xbox Game Pass players as well. If you subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, free Halo Infinite perks are back, with an assault rifle skin pack now available as the first Season 3 bonus.
There's plenty of other additions and changes coming with Halo Infinite Season 3 too. A fresh 100-tier battle pass is now live, alongside Escalation Slayer (Halo's version of the 'Gun Game' mode), and even a brand new ray tracing option for the PC version of the game.
All of the nitty gritty details for Season 3 have been broken down in a recent 343 Industries blog post, which is well worth a look if you want to read about every aspect of Halo Infinite's latest Season. We'll also drop the team's Season 3 multiplayer map overview down below.

Nice! Hopefully this is the start of more frequent content and seasonal updates.
New perk coating is pretty sweet. A step up from the pass tense that’s for sure. I hope we see the completed pass tense series at some point though.
Looks really cool and i shell certainly use it.
Looking forward to playing the new season with my buddies. This coating is definitely better than the green one's in the past, I've claimed them but never actually used them honestly.
... It's just a slightly different shade of the recent Twitch Drop Death Hex Weapon Skin you can get for free. And I assume if you care about this kind of stuff you'd know about Twitch Drops and other similar promotions. The XP Boosts & Challenge Swaps are cute, but this is not value, either for Game Pass Ultimate or Halo Infinite.
They have improved the game a lot, but it all seems too late, the ship has sailed for the vast majority of gamers. I honestly wonder how long they will keep this going, without scaling it back.
Steam peak player count was consistently only around 5.5k players daily before this update. This latest update has only bought that up to around 12k, the forge update was the same (12k) before falling back over the month.
For reference that's around the same as Battlefield 2042 gets daily without an update (12k). Frankly they would have wanted more than that. As a wider comparison other games in this genre like Apex gets 520k, Destiny 200k, even older games like Left 4 Dead 2 gets 28k, Borderlands 3 17k, etc.
Perhaps they trend slightly higher on Xbox, but it isn't going to be a wildly different story. Besides most of these other games are all cross platform so have an even larger pool of players to pull from.
I don't say that to dunk on MS/343/Halo it's just the factual reality of where they are vs the competition. A shame.
Grab your coat got me. Got me good. I'll grab my coat 'cuz I'm pulled yessir!
@themightyant I agree. I saw this article and thought to myself "oh, they're still doing stuff with Halo Infinite?" It just seems too late. All my gaming crew has moved on. Not sure any of us want to go back. And we were all diehard Halo fans. I would probably do campaign co-op before jumping back into multi.
