Xbox might not have its own VR device like the PlayStation VR 2, but the brand is at least getting involved in the virtual reality space, as it's been confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be coming to the Meta Quest Store in the future!
Before you get too excited, this doesn't mean all your Xbox games will be playable in native VR - instead, Xbox Cloud Gaming will take the form of a massive 2D screen ("like having a private movie theater available at all times").
"When Xbox Cloud Gaming launches on the Meta Quest Store, you’ll be able to hook up an Xbox controller to your headset and play console games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on a massive 2D screen..."
The Meta Quest 2, formerly known as the Oculus Quest 2, is the most popular virtual reality device in the world right now, and it's been confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be made available on that headset specifically.
There's no date yet, however, with Meta stating that more information will be shared as soon as possible.

About time they did it officially,no need to mod it anymore woohoooo
Cool. I wonder if this will also support direct console streaming.
@abe_hikura the Xbox app on quest does ( unofficially)
This is awesome. Halo Infinite in VR? Yes please! Can't wait.
i will never try vr i'm really not the right customer for it but i'm glad some enjoy it 😊
Why exactly when Xbox doesn't do any vr games
Ugh just realised that it's just projecting the games on the screen in the vr "hub". Slightly less whelmed now, I wanted my immersive halo experience
@Would_you_kindly exactly it's just the same as playing it on a big TV but less resolution and having something strapped to your head.
I can't see Microsoft being the ones who pushed for this, I think Facebook wanted it just to add more to its compatibility list.
@Would_you_kindly Main thing is I'd prefer to play it on the headset I stead of my phone. Even if it isn't VR, still more immersive having more of your FOV filled with the game screen.
@MattWithoutFear You'll need the PC version and the VR mod of you ever wanna play it in VR.
Meta, hard pass.
@UltimateOtaku91 id bet Microsoft did ,look at all them quest 2 owners who don't have a Xbox that can now pay and play game pass games on their quest
@Martsmall but don't you need a PC for the quest? If so then they already have a device for gamepass.
Interesting development but on paper a weird match up between VR - where every millisecond of latency matters - and Cloud - where latency frequently oscillates. One for the future I feel. Just thinking of that combo makes me nauseous.
@UltimateOtaku91 not unless you want to play pc vr games
PSVR2 is looking more interesting, although Xbox focusing on just putting out regular games is a better call for now.
@Xiovanni I wouldn't look too deep into this. This move was part of MS putting all their apps on the VR headsets. Windows, office, teams, etc. will now be usable on the quest pro and quest 2. This is nothing new for MS. They want their software on anything and everything. Just like Game Pass, they don't care which platform, as long as people are engaging with MS products.
@UltimateOtaku91 Quest is the Nintendo Switch of VR. It has its own built-in OS (No cables required). No need for PC at all and carries versions of most VR games. But it can stream exclusive games like Half-Life Alyx from PC as well wirelessly or through a cable.
Nothing like strapping on your heavy, sweaty VR headset on for the joy of pretending you have a bigger 2D screen than you do....
But will Quest 2 be compatible as VR device on Xbox as partnership device? It would be a great combination!
