Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Come join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!
We can't take any credit on staff for this — the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny and the rest of the contributors over at the Pure Xbox forums, who have established a community that meets up every month to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on every month by the contributors involved.
The game for October 2022 is Immortality, which is available on Xbox Series X, Series S, PC and via Xbox Cloud Gaming. It released back in August, and was awarded a rare 10/10 score here at Pure Xbox!
You'll find the forum thread to get involved below (it has over 2000 entries to date!):
If you're interested in what kind of discussion goes on, here's what a couple of contributors had to say about last month's Pure Xbox Game Club title, Immortals Fenyx Rising:
- HarmanSmith on Pure Xbox:
"Immortals was, I think, unjustly compared with BoTW, and maybe alienated many players, because the critics said this Ubi title was a 'BoTW of lesser quality'. But no! This one's a great adventure game. It reminded me of a time long gone when a much younger version of me thought Ubi could do no wrong, with all their Splinter Cell and Rayman games (oh boy, I was sooo naive). So, I would describe Immortals more like a funny take on the Assassin's Creed formula than a BoTW clone."
- LtSarge on Pure Xbox:
"You can't have an open world game that's about exploration if you're restricted by your powers. It's in this case that the Assassin's Creed and Breath of the Wild formulas clash with each other and end up worsening the experience as a whole. There's no amount of excuses you can make up in order to defend this (like the game telling you what powers you need in an area), this shouldn't happen in the game at all. It's that simple. If you're going to make a clone of BotW, then do it right!"

I see that you picked a post that shows my beautiful side @FraserG
Watch November's game be Immortal Kombat lol.
Immortality is THE best title to release on Gamepass this year. I know I’ve perhaps complained about Xbox too much this year, but this title restored my faith in Gamepass a little bit. Truly a unique experience and utterly fantastic in its execution. There’s nothing else like it and, as such, having this as an exclusive is a huge win for Xbox and Gamepass. It’s better to go into this one with eyes wide shut and to just let the game slowly envelop you. There’s few gaming experiences that have hit me so deeply as this one, and even so, I know I’m missing parts of it in my interpretation. But do yourself a favor and let the game surprise you. It’s an excellent choice for October. While Elden Ring is still first place for my GotY, I’m having real trouble deciding second place, but Immortality is a real contender. Yes, I know the year’s not over, but I’m self-aware enough to know that realistically for me there’s only four or five more titles that, for me, could shake up my list, and honestly I doubt that any of them will hit that high. But, hey, we’ll see!
Anyway, rambling aside, Immortality is an experience everyone needs to at least try and those that “get it” will “get it” in a huge way.
Bros. Is this an actual game with gameplay? I can never tell
I tried this game out but it's just too cheesy for me. I liked how they tried to do something different, but there was too many things breaking the period immersion for me.
It’s hard to call it a game , you just click on things in the movies that you think will bring you to the hidden footage and you rewind and fast forward part of the movies to unlock hidden scenes ,it’s a puzzle movie and you are the one who is played with .In the end it’s more an experiment than a game.
@Clankylad Yeah, and from a game time perspective too, it’s easy to play in small sessions or long sessions as well. I hit the credits maybe after 3 or 4 hours of playing, but I easily doubled that just continuing on with the game, analyzing things in further depth and finding additional things, and then I started to read and watch videos about the game and contrasting the experiences others had to my own, which just added to my enjoyment of the game itself. I was definitely thinking about the game at work quite a bit as I was in the middle of it. It’s quite a special game.
Also, for people that aren’t sure if this is a “game,” remember there’s other formats a “game” can be than the typical gameplay we’re accustomed to in controlling a character and moving the character and all that. There’s depth to the gameplay and that depth is unlike anything else in the medium. Similar to how a board game has different gameplay to say Halo, this has a different gameplay to that. It’s different, but it excels in that difference because it is the only game of its kind.
@OrfeasDourvas 😂
Immortality is one of my top ten gaming experiences of all time. I finished the game 100%.
@LtSarge @FraserG Oh, nice to see my nice little thoughts on Immortals .
