It's been a long time coming, but Elden Ring is finally now available! The critics have been enamored with it so far, but now we're finally getting to see what the general public thinks about it on Xbox and beyond.
This is a big game, so you're definitely not going to finish it in one day, but we're still curious to know how you're getting on with it so far if you've bought it at launch, as well as your thoughts on the game's performance on Xbox.
Is it living up to expectations for you? Is it everything you hoped it would be, or something completely different? Let us know down in the polls below — they'll be live all weekend, so feel free to come back and vote later if you want to!
Have you bought Elden Ring? How are you finding it? Let us know down in the comments.

Found an offer on Amazon (my first non-digital Series X purchase!) - never played a 'Souls' game, so I am protecting a little bit so I can re-sell if it's not for me. But I am hugely intruiged!
Knee deep in a couple of other games right now (Death's Door is a certified banger) AND know that FromSoft games usually require a few patches but looking forward to this soon.
@themightyant - Death's Door is a fantastic game. Haven't seen 'just one more shot' playability like it in a long time...
im kinda disappointed about performance issues. i cant get 60 fps during boss fights and its annoying and yes i play it on xsx.
Nope, while the overwhelming positive reviews are intriguing, watching gameplay reminds me this isn't the game for me. The excitement is awesome though and I'm happy so many are loving it!
I will give it a go at some point but it is not a 60$ game for me
Bought it. Filled with regret, Ive dashboarded it I'm going to play something else. I can't afford to smash controllers over it.
I've spent an hour trying to equip arrows, not a clue. I don't mind it being hard, but when I can't do that it's poor. The controls are awful. I don't know if it's input delay or not but really annoying how long it takes to try and hit someone with a sword.
That's my rant👍
Taking my usual Souls approach and trying different classes for an hour or so. Finding Astrologer pretty good but I'm getting my arse handed to me by what I assume is the first proper boss, it drops me in 2 hits lol. Fun times!
Got it on launch.
It's a strange one, I don't really get it. I've died about 1 million times in the first 2 hours. BUT I just want '1 more go' constantly.
Nope, not for me. FromSoftware games = too hard for me. There, I said it.
I've not been the biggest fan of From Software games, i could never really get into it. But this being open world really intrigued me so I'm excited to try it once I'm out of the office!
@code45709 It took me a bit as well. With the bow equipped, hold LB and it will take you to an aim mode, where you can press RB for regular arrows or RT for fire arrows (if you have them).
I am really enjoying this so far.
I can definitely see where this game is more forgiving for people who aren't in the hardcore Souls community like myself.
That isn't to say this game is going to be a walk in the park; but I like how I have a lot more options to either get back attacks or to put enemies in a stun for a critical strike.
Sneaking: Thank you for bringing this over from Sekiro. It's a pain the Dark Souls to sneak up on an enemy as you essentially have to walk slow as dirt (and even that's not a guarantee). Sneaking is a big help for getting back attacks.
Leaping Strong Attack: I like that this can completely stun certain enemies. I'll have to see how often this actually works.
Counter-attack: I like this new feature as I can now have a better chance at stunning AND still getting off the block. I will look to see how often this works.
I am still getting used to Two-handing. It's nice I have a choice which weapon to Two-hand; but it's an adjustment over previous titles.
I like that Running no longer consumes Stamina - really helpful if you want to get your butt out of a sticky situation.
I only got through the tutorial area, but give all these nice new additions, fighting regular mobs just became a little easier.
@P3nguinprisM thanks so much. If I wasn't balding I'd of pulled my hair out😂👍
@themightyant Death's Door is SO underappreciated!!
@Balta666 same here. since i know i'm not very likely to finish it, i can't justify $60, but i will buy it at some point.
@Nightcrawler71 if From Software simply added an optional difficulty slider to their games, they would double their sales EASILY. i don't understand why they don't get that. yes, the "purists" would whine, but they whine about everything anyway, so....
@P3nguinprisM are people missing the tutorial?
Looking at review scores makes me want to play it but then I never really got on with Dark Souls so I'm still on the fence. Might wait for the first sale.
@teknium_ That could be, yeah. I figured it out before seeing it in the tutorial section because I didn’t know there would be a tutorial haha!
@Nightcrawler71 couldn’t agree more. The hype almost had me but after reading the first comments here I’m glad I saved my $70 bucks and sanity.
@armondo36 death's door is freaking awesome! Gotta carry on with it after i get my Samurai kit finished for Infinite. Need one more soul to open up the door for the hook shot.
I want to. The world is my type of thing but and what has put me off souls games is that insane difficulty. With so much in backlog im the type to get frustrated with that mechanic pretty quick. I like a challenging boss fight but its on another level for me that.
I am of course assuming this one is no more accessible in that regard than previous entries. Feel free to correct me!
A "limited-time demo" or a "free try weekend" would really help me out a lot here in deciding whether this was for me. As it's a huge game and if it really is as good as say it is, then this should be a low risk advertising option
I'm actually really curious how it plays as a co-op game. I'm kind of uncertain of how easy /friendly it is to bring some one in. I read that if the "visiting" player dies that they get kicked out of the world and then have to go through some extra summoning steps again. Given the frequency at which players may die, this seems like a huge pain over the classic, hold x to respawn / revive. Also does anyone know if the "visiting" player gets to keep any gained experience or items? As I'm really only interested in playing through this with a friend, this is probably going to be a deciding factor for me and my friends. If anyone can provide any info / opinions on co-op that would be appreciated. TIA! (Thanks in advance).
Nope. No interest at all.
🤔too early to tell. But enjoying my 2hr jaunt, thus far.
Started as the wretch. Beat the guard in the tutorial area. Avoided the big golden horseback guy, killes some animals, cleared the front gate area, found a sword and armor bottoms, got torrent, rode off, got shot by a ballista, died, went back to get my souls, I mean runes. Found the grace, went to bed.
Looking forward to another round of "live or die". Holding a weapon with 2-hands is a but cumbersome, you have to press [LB]+[RB]+Y at the same time. Sneaking is a very viable way to go through the game. So far, i must've backstabbed everyone.
Just bought it with my reward points...not played it as I've had car issues today..18 plate ive only had 2 weeks ffs....will possibly play tonight....got a feeling Horizon is going to have to wait...I feel like I will be more invested in this before even playing it
Might have been useful to have had a 'Not Had A Chance to Play it Yet' option for those of us that have bought the game, but not yet played it, @FraserG. As it stands, none of the options fit for those of us in that position...
Not interested really, Dark Souls games have never been my thing.
I have zero interest in this game.
I got it from the digital Xbox store, too hard and souls game really, a boss every few minutes, so i refunded it and got my money back.
So I've spent around 10 hours with it trying out different classes and my main take is the hit boxes are well and truly borked. Collision detection on blocks and parries is highly questionable at times.
I don't mean unfairly either, I've had dozens of occasions where my blocks are completely ignored, the enemy hit will simply pass through my shield but not cause me damage, likewise my anticipated counter attack animates like a hit but causes no damage.
I've finished every Souls game so I'm well versed in the nuances of the combat as well as its jank but I've never seen anything like this before. Really weird.
@code45709 so, you have to upgrade to get faster.
Like it a lot, performance is fine (in my opinion) with VRR. And the game is beautiful, not on a technical level but by its design and world building. It is a difficult game of course, but the possabilities to grind and sneaking helps. The dungeons have the usual annyoing Dark Souls corridors with camera issues and hitting walls and pillars instead of your enemy.
But it is so rewarding that you can not stop playing it.
would be alot better to me if i could actually connect to the dang server.
WHAT IS A SOULS GAME WITHOUT ONLINE INTERACTION..
the pain.
Can you please try and find out what is going on with the network errors?
I never played soul series.
and fs bad optimize so ......
No and no.
No XSeX (can't get one. Can't get an PS4 either)
Never played any Dark Souls.
If I ever get a next gen (next gen for me, I have a PS4) system, I'll get it when it is on sale.
@Microbius im on the fence about purchasing.
Your description of previous souls games could have been written by me. Im intrigued by all the hype and lore though.
Could you elaborate more about how attacking from a distance is working out for you? And the overall experience?
It's really really cool
Got the Argentina version from CDkeys, which you just need to redeem with a VPN. 40 USD, so I won't feel so bad if I abandon it because of its difficulty!
Enjoying it so far, tough
Got it yesterday and its overrated crap. Laggy controls, lousy graphics, no story! Save your money and buy it when it hit the Black Friday sales.
