It's time for another round of Pick One! This week, with TimeSplitters finally getting fixed for Xbox with backwards compatibility, we thought we'd take the opportunity to look back at this beloved series from the turn of the millennium.
The first game wasn't actually available on Xbox (but we'll let you pick it anyway), while TimeSplitters 2 arrived in late 2002 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect dropped in early 2005. There sadly haven't been any since then... but the recently reformed Free Radical has confirmed it has a plan for a future game in the franchise, so that's exciting!
So, which is your favourite? Remember you can only pick one!
Let's take a look at what we're working with:
TimeSplitters (2000)
Time Splitters was developed by the creators of the revolutionary first-person shooter Golden Eye 007. The plot centres on the Time Splitters, an evil race existing outside of time and space. Battling in three different eras (1935-1955, 1985-2000 and 2015-2035), you must destroy the aliens and restore the timeline.
TimeSplitters 2 (2002)
TimeSplitters 2 is an adrenalised race through time to save man's future from the grasp of a hideous alien race. In control of a space marine who has infiltrated their ship on the edge of space and time, leap into periods of past and future history, track down and eliminate the TimeSplitters and their diabolical attempts to enslave humankind!
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (2005)
Humanity is on the brink of destruction. Cortez finds himself in a frantic race against time in a desperate bid to trace the origin of the TimeSplitters. Battle through the centuries to change the past and alter the future with a massive arsenal of period firearms. Along the way, you’ll get help from your past and future selves as you travel through the ages to infiltrate historic castles, annihilate evil robots, and more.
Let us know which of these TimeSplitters games is your favourite below.

TS1 is a good game, but TS2 is a textbook example of a sequel taking what worked in a game and improving every aspect.
I have to say that Future Perfect is my favourite. While I think TS2 has the better multiplayer I really enjoy 3’s story campaign.
In fact I was able to snag a used copy of Future Perfect today at a Retro Game store for the tidy sum of £2 do looking forward to playing it again
I had a ton of great memories playing TF1 & TF2. TF2 was amazing!
Loved the first one till just now. The hacking part towards the end ruined it for me. Make a mistake and the bloody game still sends you to the beginning again. Won't be playing that again. Hope the second game is better.
TS2 holds the fondest memories for me but TS3 was pretty damn close.
Played 1 once and it confused me but I’m going to give it another crack.
So bloody I can play these again!
They're all solid, but Future Perfect gets top marks from me. The mini-game challenges, crazy cheats, and multiplayer map maker are a ton of fun, especially with friends.
The second game was always the best. The first was an amazing and surprising PS2 launch title though, I remember playing the bots multiplayer all the time back in the day. It's just that Timesplitters 2 took everything that was good about that game and improved upon it, really being a highlight game of it's era. I liked Future Perfect as well, but I remember having better time with 2.
I used to play Timesplitters 2 on GCN with my brother and friends all the time (my friends felt they were too cool to get it on their Xbox, ironically). So good.
2 was amazing when it launched, but 3 surpassed it in virtually every way in presentation, options, humour, etc...
I don't even remember TimeSplitters 2 having a single-player mode and from what I can see, I've never played it. The splitscreen multiplayer modes made this game - brilliant fun!
Sadly I missed out on these back in the day. But you better believe I'm going through them thanks to backwards compatibility.
1 is decent. But 2-3 are phenomenal! This was the greatest FPS at the time and it came to all 3 systems at the time. I prefer multiplayer on 2-probably cause I spent countless hours in college playing it, but 3 had a great single player campaign!
