Keanu Reeves has been doing press to promote the recent release of The Matrix Awakens for Xbox and PlayStation (the "Unreal Engine 5 experience"), and an interesting revelation has cropped up about Cyberpunk 2077 in the process.
Back in December of last year, it was suggested in an earnings call with CD Projekt president and joint CEO Adam Kicinski that Keanu "played the game and he loves it", but Keanu has told The Verge that he's never laid hands on it:
Maybe it's an innocent bit of miscommunication. There's a chance Keanu has sat through large portions of watching the game rather than playing it, and Kicinski simply got himself mixed up or was translated incorrectly. Who knows.
In any case, the most important focus for Cyberpunk 2077 right now is the upcoming release of the free next-gen upgrade in 2022, which will hopefully go a long way to writing the wrongs of last year's botched launch.

Lol of course cd project would say that
Man it's such a shame Cyberpunk 2077 had a terrible release. I played the game from start to finish on Xbox One X and loved every minute.
I didn't follow all the early hype about the game, so I really don't know what was "promised" vs. "what was released", so maybe that helped me simply enjoy the game for what it is rather than what it was expected to be.
All I know is, it was a great story and I actually felt very satisfied with it all. Heck, I even got a little misty at the ending I chose.
That being said, I am waiting for the next-gen version to release before I create a new character of opposite gender so I can do different romance options as well as play the game differently than before.
@Alduin it didn't ruin his name though LMFAO. And why would want their next project to fail? What a pessimistic mindset, yeeeeesh your head must be grey. I hope they learn from cyberpunk and make an excellent game. By the way it ran fine for me on series X and I loved every single second of it.
But does Keanu Reeves play video games in the first place? 🤔
He most likely saw the type of footage we were being shown before launch, said he loved what he saw and CDPR lied said he played and loved it. From my understanding while Reeves respects games and loves what they can do he himself doesn't play games.
Tell me lies
Ain't nothing but a heartache
@Alduin Hopefully it doesn’t take them two failures to learn the lessons. Hopefully their next game is beyond awesome and redeems the damage they have done to their brand.
Keanu must be lying because I know that CDPR would not lie to investors.
@endlessleep nope. He says in the video above he doesn’t play video games.
CD Projekt Lied so much about all things Cyberpunk, that I have zero doubt what went down here. This is no miscommunication, just another lie.
