Microsoft has officially announced all four Xbox Games With Gold titles for January 2022! These games are available to download for free for Xbox Live Gold members (including subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate).
Here's the complete list of titles you can look forward to in January:
Xbox Series X / Xbox One
NeuroVoider (January 1 - 31)
NeuroVoider is a twin-stick shooter RPG set in a cyber futuristic world about brains shooting around evil robots with nuclear rocket launchers. Battle through the horde of vigilant robots, boost your character with the smoking remains of your victims, and defeat the master NeuroVoider to end this eternal war. Play it coop with up to 4 friends, or go alone in an adventure of hack'n'slash rampage, with a pinch of rogue-lite, and some permadeath.
Aground (January 16 - February 15):
Aground is a Mining/Crafting RPG, where there is an overarching goal, story and reason to craft and build. As you progress, you will meet new NPCs, unlock new technology, and maybe magic too. Will you be able to raise dragons? Launch into space? The sky is literally not the limit. Beneath its simple exterior, Aground hides a lot of depth and surprises that will keep you wondering “what’s next?”
Xbox 360 / Original Xbox
Radiant Silvergun (January 1 - 15):
Radiant Silvergun, restored by Treasure, is now available! The shoot ‘em up gameplay that made this a legend remains unchanged, but a hidden "Ikaruga-style" shooting mode gives everyone something new. Previously only available in Japan, Radiant Silvergun on Xbox LIVE Arcade also provides leaderboards, co-op play locally or over Xbox LIVE, downloadable replays, and improved visuals making it the version to own.
Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16 - 31):
Space Invaders, the game that defined video games for generations, is back with a new twist! The game starts off looking like the classic Space Invaders, but as you play through the game, it evolves. Unlock new stages, new power ups, and new features. The full game features a total of 143 stages from both Normal Mode and the breathtaking Challenge Mode where stages change with each playthrough.

Radiant Silvergun!
I don't normally pay too much attention to Gold or Plus games but Radiant Silvergun is the best game I've seen on either service for quite some time and Space Invaders Infinity looks like being great fun too
Think this is the weakest month so far after my returning to playing Xbox 18 months ago.
Others may like the choices though.
Looking forward to February and playing my backlog of games whilst waiting.
Radiant Silvergun is amazing, even if I'm rubbish at it.
On one hand, it's great to see two solid Xbox 360 games, especially from what I just read about Radiant Silvergun, but the other two are laughable.
I hate to be the one to do it, but compared to the excellent start to 2022 for PS Plus, this can either be taken as a joke or a slap in the face. We're numb to it at this point, but still, they could at least make the Series X/Xbox One games ones we've heard of more often than not. They don't even have to be new releases to be an improvement. At least December had Tropico 5, something that's solid and from a known series.
Mehhh... difficult to be excited with this lackluster bunch
I hope Radiant Silvergun is real. If it is, call me happy !
Space Invaders looks like a lot of fun, too.
The other two ? I don't intend to reclaim it, at this point.
Looking forward to gamepass announcements in the new year
This is why I have Gamepass, but not Gold.
Wow and here I thought they would start the year off strong like with ps plus..but no
They should seriously scrap this gold service and use the funds instead to put some more games on gamepass
Know this isn’t a gauge of whether the games are good or not, but I’m happy with these because I don’t own any of them!
But definitely looking forward to Radiant Silvergun. It’s been on my wish list.
🤣🤣🤣 We get it, Microsoft. You want everyone on Game Pass already.
I don't have any of these games. That's good enough for me.
I guess its a 'typical' line-up from MS and therefore shouldn't really come as any surprise. Yet another month where I won't bother to add any to my library as there is NO chance that I will waste my time on them when I have a 'growing' backlog of Games I actually want to play.
I must admit, I don't really care about Games with Gold as I get Gold as Part of Game Pass Ultimate and the actual 'Games' offered as part of Gold have zero impact on my perceived view of the 'value' of Gold. If I only subbed to Gold, I'd probably feel 'different' but considering its only a part of what the 'extra' I pay for Ultimate, along with EA Access, Streaming etc, I can't really complain that in the last year or so, I haven't bothered with ANY Games with Gold and it looks as if 2022 will be the same with the way its starting.
Game Pass Ultimate has given me the option to add ALL the Games with Gold but when given the 'choice' to play games like Halo:Infinite, FH5, Back4Blood, the Gunk, the Medium, Outriders, Aliens: Fireteam, Flight Sim etc etc etc as well asgames like Star Wars Fallen Jedi, Star Wars Squadrons etc via EA Access, the Games with Gold just can't compete for my time!
Radiant Silvergun!! Here I come! All I care for GWG is X360 games. I absolutely do not care about Xbox One announcements, since gamepass takes care of them way better.
@BAMozzy I'm with you, though I think Radiant Silvergun is a great addition I already own it and I honestly can't remember the last game I added from either service as I just have too much I want to play
Games with mold strikes again.
Another month I won't use my reward points to upgrade to GP Ultimate.
Awesome, I'm excited for all the games this time around.
Looking forward to Radiant Silvergun and will give Space Invaders a go for old times sake.
Never heard of the two Xbox One games, but trying to keep an open mind NeuroVoider gets an 80 on Metacritic and Aground gets a 7.8 user score on PC.
Objectively that’s a better month than usual and I appreciate that.
But the reality is there are too many great, perhaps better, games on Game Pass, and not enough time. So unless these were certified bangers I probably won’t find time to play them much.
This thread is clearly divided between people who know what Radiant Silvergun is and those who don't haha
For those who do, it's a fantastic month 😍
@LocalPenguin yeah for sure lol, I'm totally fishing in the dark here, never heard of any of them....
At this point they ought to just kill GWG and throw those dollars at GP.
I think this is a really cool selection. I've re-discovered 2D games recently and GWG is likely the only way I would download these. Radiant Silvergun looks great.
Aground Looks pretty cool!
Just stop…we maybe get a stellar game every 2 years. Just glad I have Gamepass
Move along people nothing to see here..
Well those are complete crap like normal. They just put all the good stuff on gamepass, MS have lost by a country mile against Sony when it comes to monthly games for gold or ps plus.
Ok, this is weird, the article changed titles and page addresses. Everyone else's comments got moved to this new page, and my comment sits alone as the only one on the old page.....
So I'll move it myself.
Wow, I really didn't know GwG existed in 1995! I'm so happy to be getting several great SNES games this month. It really will save me money I was going to spend at Kiddie City.
So we're going to get 1 SNES SHMUP, one PS1-ish Minecraft game, one Neo Geo/PC Engine SHMUP, and an Atari 2600 SHMUP. This is why I pay my money every month....
Meanwhile on the PS+ rumor mill is Dirt 5 and P5 Strikers....
Ahm Radiant Silvergun. One of those games I snagged in the hayday of the 360 when Japan was being courted a big and we got ALL OF THE SMUPS.
I know some people won't like this list. But honestly, I see my self dropping in hours to all of them. So that's a win to me.
Neurovoider is a good twin-stick shooter, I played it few years ago on PS Vita.
I Know Radiant Silvergun by name but never played it.
I'm satisfied with these games, it could have been worse...
I don't get too positive or negative over the 'free' games MS (or Sony for that matter) offers through XBL Gold anymore. But I will say this month isn't bad mainly because of Radiant Silvergun.
@NEStalgia I might have to pony up for a month of Plus so I can claim Strikers
@Dusk_Actual Haha, yeah, I was on the fence all year since I haven't finished P5R yet, and finally caved and bought Strikers on sale like 3 weeks ago..... and now it's free
They need to work on games for gold and offer a bit more not everyone wants gamepass.
Especially as Series X been available all day at Game and Amazon and Smyths toys today and still is at 22:04. Easy to buy one now.
Gamepass has not cracked it for Microsoft, not in the UK anyway. They have long way to go.
Noice, some Treasure action.
Damn, I bought it ages ago.
Although it's a port of an IOS game, Infinity Gene is a really good update on the Space Invaders IP - It's an old school SHMUP meets a Jeff Minter 2D / 3D trip-a-thon. If you aren't into retro it may not be for you, but if you are its worth the download.
MS is clearly interested in getting people to invest in Game Pass.
cant believe im saying this phrase again in my life....Bring on the Space Invaders I shall destroy em all!!!!! said this like 40 years ago at a arcade while a kid......
NueroVoider looks surprisingly fun.
Besides, we’ve had Dirt 5 since basically release on GP, right?
Neurovoider & Radiant Silvergun look awesome. Will try them
Radiant Silvergun for me, I will claim the others but not download them.. May possibly download Space Invaders.
