In case you missed the news a couple of weeks ago, today marks the removal of Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox Game Pass for console, which takes place exactly four months to the day it was re-added to the service back in April.
No explanation has been provided for why GTA V is leaving so quickly, although it stuck around for a similar timeframe last year on Game Pass, and publisher Take-Two recently explained that it believes a Game Pass model "can make sense for deep catalog titles, but it doesn't really make sense for frontline titles".
GTA V will return later this November on Xbox (but not Game Pass) in the form of an expanded and enhanced version of the game for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, which Take-Two believes will be "highly appealing" for fans.
We haven't got any other games leaving Xbox Game Pass today, although a few more are slated to be removed in a week's time on August 15, including Final Fantasy VII, Darksiders Genesis and Don't Starve: Giant Edition.
Sad to see GTA V leaving so soon on Xbox Game Pass, or not bothered? Let us know down below.

It's never around for long. Luckily it tends to leave just as there's a sale happening.
Expect this to be back within a 3/4 months...
@ViolentEntity I don't, never really cared for it to be honest. Played other versions and I'd rather play the older ones on my iPhone I feel. I'm sure many others don't own it either.
I don’t own GTA V.
Four months is just fine, plenty long enough to complete this game. If a player likes the online part then they will buy it in one of the frequent sales.
I hope it doesn't return to be honest, game pass funds can be spent better elsewhere, maybe on hot up and coming indie games, or other big titles that most people don't already own.
I think MS added it to Gamepass to show on promotional material, 'look what we have!'
It's probably served that purpose well, buy yeah, don't bring it back.
It's an old game with no Xbox optimization and no next gen update.
the graphics look better on my 7 year old pc.
It was real fun when i played it on pc, one of the best of the series, but due to the reasons i mentioned i don't really care for it on Xbox.
Let's be honest, anyone who wants this game already has it.
I own it but have never played it. Surely anyone who wants it has bought it by now anyway with all the sales it's had.
Rockstar thinks they are Gods. And never let their games stay on services long.
Good riddance. Mr Zelnick can now play it on his platform or choice that is not, God forbid, a subscription service.
It's not about owning it, it's about the convenience of playing it on XCloud without having to install it! Dumb move, IMHO.
TakeTwo begin their descent into obscurity. Standing in the face of progress for quick financial gain never plays out how the greedy hope.
I plan on picking up GTA V on sale after it gets its series optimizations.
At this point GTA V has to have been ported more than Skyrim right? Not to more platforms but just more port jobs.
@ViolentEntity That we would be me and that is a very upsetting thing because I actually enjoyed it when I could... 2 years ago when I was playing it at a friend's house one time but ya'know ill... maybe? get it...
@GunValkyrie and... what if i cannot?
HMMM...
