It's that time again! We're big fans of the Microsoft Rewards program here at Pure Xbox, which allows you to complete tasks in order to earn redeemable points which can be spent on gift cards, donations and much more.
July 2021's "Monthly Bonus Round" challenge has just begun, and by satisfying a few easy requirements by July 15th, you can top up your account by another 2000 - 2500 points (around £2 / $2).
You'll find this punch card on the Microsoft Rewards app for console, and here's what you'll need to do:
- Complete a Bing search on five separate days
- Complete 3 "daily sets"
- Earn 3 achievements in Xbox One / Series X / Series S games
- Claim 500 points (and ideally, donate them to a non-profit of your choice)
- Complete a quiz for up to 50 extra points
Additionally, there's a State of Decay 2 punch card on the Xbox Microsoft Rewards app right now in which you can earn at least 500 points for completing one of three achievements, and if you've bought the recent release of Scarlet Nexus, you can pick up an extra 250 points for simply playing the game and obtaining one achievement.
If you're new to the Microsoft Rewards program, this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of obtaining points - you can also earn hundreds per-day by completing Bing searches on PC and mobile, earning Achievements in Xbox games, finding Weekly Treasures, pre-ordering specific games and much more. The rewards program is fantastic. I got 18 months of GamePass for $0.
Cheers for pointing out that state of decay one. I didn't read the text on the actual punch card so all I saw was the punches without a point amount attached to them. One of them required renting movies so I didn't bother. I have state of decay downloading now so I can get 500 points for the archievement! Cheers!
@ralphdibny No worries! Lots of people have been having problems with getting the punch card to register the achievement, so just keep that in mind. I'm not sure if it's fixed yet.
I agree, the rewards program is awesome, weekly and the monthly (for the 1000 points) are the ones I always target.... easy to achieve... I use it for discounts in the store....
@Xenomorph_79 Nintendo gives you a percentage of the price of every Switch game (new retail or eShop) game back as store credit.
I never engaged with this program really until this year but this was after over a decade of just playing and buying games in the Xbox ecosystem and having an account that accrued points.
I got over 300 bucks of credit when I realized what I was able to do with this. Yeah, I engage with it and the quest system a bit now but still mostly passively, still a great program.
@Sakisa $300 in a year! Dang.
@FatalBubbles Nah, it was $300 of Microsoft rewards existing and me accruing points for purchases and playing games that I didn't mess with for years.
It was nice though.
@FraserG ahh fair enough, I will give it a go anyway and keep an eye on it!
@Xenomorph_79 "Sony and other competitors who do nothing like this at all."
Nintendo does do something like this as @VenomousAlbino already mentioned Gold points, which are worth 1 cent each on the US eShope. Nintendo also has Platinum points that you earn doing all sorts of weird stuff like this. Like looking for hidden Mario's on a new game website. Then you can trade in those points for physical dodads, that they charge you $5 to ship. 😝 MyNintendo is no Club Nintendo tho. Unless you don't consider Nintendo a competitor, then fair enough.
This is all new(s) to me. I think I have around 3982 points according to my Xbox account, or maybe that's just my MS account, but I'm still confused why my Win 10 PC has 2 apps both exactly called "Xbox" but one opens up my console achievements and one opens up my Gamepass library and they seem so different. It's so weird. 🤷♂️
Edit: OK, so this article is about "MS Rewards", which seems to have no relationship at all to my Xbox account, so yeah, um, nevermind. I'll do Xbox account stuff b/c I game, but I don't Bing. Thanks for the link in the article to the explanation, got it now. 👍
@rjejr are your Microsoft and Xbox accounts not just the same account? Mine are.
@VenomousAlbino Good question. I'll go look into that now. I'd assumed so, but since I regularly use 3 emails they could be separate.
So it looks like they are the same. That 3,982 number I referenced earlier is my Gamerscore, not the 1,023 which is my MS Rewards score, still level 1. I traded in my Xbox1 for a Switch about 4 years ago and had been playing on my kids GP account on PC since then, think I just confused myself a wee bit, which isn't hard to do these days.
So now between MS, Amazon and Google I could probably die now but continue on as some type of ghost AI in perpetuity. No wonder the elderly get scammed so much, who can remember and keep track of all of this stuff? 🤣
@VenomousAlbino @rjer You also get reward points back when you spend on the digital store (even if it’s all money from credit from reward points). I think it’s 5 points per £ for level 1, 10 points per £ for level 2 (which just requires earning 500 points a month) and if you’re a Game Pass subscriber it’s 20 points per £ spent.
