One question Double Fine is getting asked all the time lately, is when will it be releasing Psychonauts 2? In the most recent update from earlier this month, it said this anticipated title was coming later this year, so is it?
Yes, it really is! In yet another update on social media - it's mentioned how "the game" will truly be released in 2021. Admittedly, it's not the first time we've heard something like this. And the creator, Tim Schafer, previously told fans that the team just wanted to make sure the game was in a "good" state.
This latest update seems to stem from an earlier tweet about this month's Game Informer cover story, which will apparently feature the "full-scoop" about Double Fine's long-awaited Psychonauts sequel.
Game Informer's teaser of this notes how "in a matter of months" Double Fine will fill in the cliffhanger ending of the first game with the release of the follow-up. Could this perhaps narrow down how much longer fans have left to wait for the second game?
"In 2005, Double Fine released the original Psychonauts. It was the studio’s first game, and it put the developer on the map as a creative force that wasn’t afraid to take chances. It also ended with one hell of a cliffhanger that has left fans guessing for almost 16 years. In a matter of months, Double Fine will finally answer some of those questions with the release of Psychonauts 2."
Earlier this month, Psychonauts 2 was made available to pre-load and was then pulled from the Microsoft Store. If all of this has got you in the mood for some Psychonauts action, you can always check out the original Xbox title which arrived on Game Pass last week.

They will confirm the release date in E3 next month
@Chaudy Definitely sounds like we’ve got an impending E3 announcement
It's either a shadow drop announcement at E3, or a release date announcement for July at E3.
I'll be quite happy with either scenario.
