Conker has hit the big two-zero today, as the iconic platformer celebrates its 20th anniversary.
It seems Rare didn’t want to miss out on the celebration, as they’ve shared a 20th anniversary post on Twitter, reminiscing on the cute, foul-mouthed squirrel’s past. They’ve even added some brand new Conker merch to their store for fans to get their hands on.
We even had the Sea of Thieves Twitter account raise a glass to the iconic character, complete with a ship decorated in recognisable items.
While the game originally released on the Nintendo 64, Xbox players have the best options now. Both the original Conker’s Bad Fur Day (via Rare Replay) and the later remake, Conker Live & Reloaded, are available across the Xbox family. Both have their strengths, with the original boasting an uncensored version, while the remake has some stunning visuals (especially on the Xbox Series X|S with Auto HDR).
Conker even made an appearance in the long forgotten game creation tool, Project Spark, with Conker’s Big Reunion. It never quite lived up to the standards of the original platformer, but was nostalgic attempt all the same. Unfortunately, due to Project Spark now being shut down, unless you have the game already purchased or a physical copy, it’s going to be very hard to experience a playthrough outside of a YouTube video.
Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of our furry friend. The platforming genre seems to be coming back with a vengeance, so maybe it could just be the incentive needed to bring him back?

I'd love to see a new conker game, but I've given up all hope with Rare these days. Sea of Thieves is an online service game and Everwild looks to be going down the same route.
I honestly thought and hoped Phil Spencer would try to reignite the Rareware of old but I've as much interest in Rare's recent output as I did their Kinect games (which is to say, null)
Would love a new Conker game.
You'd think stuff like this would be a no brainer for Game Pass.
Hopefully they could outsource the game like they did with Battletoads and Killer Instinct.
@pip_muzz Yeah today's Rare has nothing to do with the Rare of old. It's why they need to outsource the development for their old IP's.
Q) Would you love to see Conker return?
A) Whilst not as much as the likes of Jet Force Gemini or Atic Atac, I would be thrilled to see Conker return. I have fond memories of it's story and multiplayer on the N64.
I actually quite enjoyed Project Spark's Conker's Big Reunion and felt that Team Dakota could have made a pretty decent Conker revival if they built it from the ground-up. A shame they never got that opportunity; I'm not even sure their still around anymore.
