If you're a keen user of the Microsoft Edge internet browser app on Xbox One, you'll probably be well aware that it's remained pretty much the same ever since arriving for the console back in late 2015.
Fortunately, that's all about to change, as Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring have spotted that a brand-new Microsoft Edge app is available to download, and it's based on the new Chromium version of the browser.
According to Reddit user RazGunz, the app appears to be exactly the same as the one available for Windows 10 PCs, although currently there are "a lot of things that don't work yet", which is to be expected for Xbox Insiders.
It remains to be seen when the app will roll out to the public, but according to a few users who have managed to test it so far, it's already looking and performing much better than the current Edge app on Xbox One.

I love the Microsoft Edge app on my Xbox Series X, Heck i'm using it right now to post.. I use it religiously everyday..
I have it but there's no reason I would use a browser on my Series X.
This is great news. The current version is slow and buggy, hoping the new one is as good as the windows version.
@CrazyJF That doesn't make any sense. Why would they use the browser instead of streamlined UX for that?
Who needs exclusives when you can have MS Edge?
@ Bmartin001, i also use a console browser every day, PS4, for basic stuff like news, sports, weather, google, youtube, and sites like this one which i can view and post to.
Overall i find a console browser convenient, so an updated browser for my probable next console , XB Series X, is good news.
its about time really, the new Edge is a very competent browser on all formats its released on
Very happy about this app finally coming to Xbox! I used it today and I was able to sync ALL my favorites and extensions, like my dark mode for all web pages. It's pretty cool and feels like I'm on my computer. It did crash a few times though sadly.
Does this replace the Internet explorer app or is it separate?
