Update (Wed 5th Aug, 2020 14:30 BST): Microsoft has now confirmed that these five games will leave Xbox Game Pass on Friday, August 14. Enjoy them while you can!
Original story (Fri 31st Jul, 2020 19:00 BST): Microsoft has revealed five games that will be removed from Xbox Game Pass in August, including a couple of big hitters in action-RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Devil May Cry 5.
As always, these titles are now available to purchase at 20% off for Xbox Game Pass members, and that offer will remain until the games are removed from the service (likely mid-August).
Date | Game | Platform |
---|---|---|
Aug 14 | Devil May Cry 5 | Xbox One |
Aug 14 | Kingdom Come: Deliverance | Xbox One, PC |
Aug 14 | Space Hulk: Tactics | PC |
Aug 14 | Where The Water Tastes Like Wine | PC |
Aug 14 | Yoku's Island Express | Xbox One, PC |
There's a chance Microsoft might yet add more games to this list (it hasn't released an official statement on all upcoming removals yet), so we'll let you know if we discover any others!

One of the few bad things I can say about Game Pass is : occasionally feeling the pressure to play games before they leave the service. Haven’t got round to DMC5 or Kingdom Come Deliverance and likely won’t in the next 2 weeks. Yoku’s Island Express was brilliant though!
I wanted to play Devil May Cry 5 and Kingdom Come Deliverance but I don't mind seeing them go. There are still plenty of games I want to play on the service.
Good thing I just finished DMC5 then! I'm in the middle of a second play through though, so I guess I have to buy it physically.
@themightyant i IMPLORE you to try Kingdom Come; it's FANTASTIC.
I beat DMC 5 on gamepass so I'm good 👍
Kingdom Come Deliverance was on my play list but It looks like a long game so I might be better off buying it. Also interested in Yoku so I guess I have some work to do!
@armondo36 Thanks for the recommendation, appreciated. Kingdom Come Deliverance is too long for me to play in that timeframe but I will be looking to pick it up at another opportunity.
Too many games, too much backlog, never enough time
DMC5 is amazing but I have it physical so I guess it’s back to inserting the disc to play it
@themightyant It's not that games in GP only last for a few weeks. It's quite a while before games leave GP. It's all about priorities. 😜
But I do understand your point! 👍🏾🙂
@Ricoche I agree. Games on game pass usually stays lots of time, some stays a whole year. But there is also the point of the pople who just subscribed, they will have just a few days to experience those games. It all depends.
@duhsoares21 Yeps, that is true. It would suck if you're new and the game that you want to play leaves GP within a few day's. We can't have everything I guess. 😁👍🏾
@themightyant I wish they gave us more than two weeks of warning. DMC is short enough and I have time so I started and will finish but for most games that are leaving it is unrealistic to beat them in two weeks.
I don't mind buying Devil May Cry 5 but I wanted to try Kingdom Come and Yoku's Island to know if I like them... It's just that I haven't had much time to play lately.
@RBRTMNZ Exactly! A little longer would be helpful to all or even better just always have the expiry date listed (when they know)
I too decided to squeeze in DMC5, but to be honest i'm not enjoying it as much as I hoped and thought i'd give my thoughts in case you hadn't started. (Of course this is subjective and your mileage may vary)
It's not bad by any means but it feels like a game made for replaying and mastery. The initial moveset is anaemic and decent unlocks are slow. I'm near the end of the game i'm still barely unlocked a third of the moves list, these remain open for replays. Learning curve is quite steep with multiple characters that play differently.
I looked at videos online and the things you CAN do look like an entirely different, fluid, and more fun game to the one i'm playing. It also does a really bad job of teaching you techniques I had to find out online.
Additionally it still has a thing I hate about so much Japanese game design - Gameplay for a few minutes than a short cutscene to slowly show you where to go.... repeated constantly, ad nauseum, after almost every battle. It's poor visual storytelling, I shouldn't constantly need a slow ponderous cutscene to show me where to go next.
Story is OK but entirely predicable.
I realise this is mostly the negative side of things, it's still a good game, but I feel the great game that is probably there is hidden behind multiple playthroughs and mastery of the mechanics.
One playthrough 5/10
Multiple playthroughs 8 or 9/10 (based on what I saw of gameplay possibilities online)
PostScript: If you do play remapping the Gun to Right Trigger (thanks Youtube) makes a lot of sense and makes charged shot comboing much easier.
@themightyant I am half way through and I have a very similar assessment. I don’t personally want multiple play throughs but I definitely think I would appreciate the game more in the end if I had the time to replay levels and build up my combat skills. I’m still having a blast just trying things out and doing my beat to increase variety but I wish I could take a little more time. That being said arcade and action games are not my favorite genres so I’m not too upset by having to rush through. I would not have played the game if not for Game Pass so overall I’m happy with the experience. Another week or so would have been perfect.
Totally agree that it would be great if they gave us expiration dates. The only thing I don’t like About Game Pass is the pressure I feel to complete games on Game Pass. Unfortunately I don’t think it will change. I’m sure Microsoft loves that I keep neglecting my backlog because I feel pressured to play Game Pass.
@RBRTMNZ 100% agreed.
On expiration dates: I saw that they are adding dates clearly for when deals expire on the new Xbox storefront design, so perhaps this might go in the same place for Game Pass titles. Wishful thinking maybe.
