We've been hearing a lot about Mafia: Trilogy over the past few days from various sources including both the Microsoft and PlayStation Stores. Now, it's finally official - the bundle includes Definitive Editions of Mafia, Mafia II and Mafia III, and is available right now for pre-order on Xbox One.
By purchasing Mafia: Trilogy, you'll get instant access to the Mafia II and Mafia III Definitive Editions. The second game has been remastered with improved visuals and audio, and features free DLC and bonus packs. The third game also includes free DLC and bonus packs, but is being described as a "re-introduction" rather than a remaster.
The Definitive Edition of the first game, meanwhile, is coming on August 28, 2020. It's said to be a "faithful remake" that includes 4K/HDR-ready visuals, lifelike cutscenes and upgraded gameplay.
All of these games can either be bought separately or as part of Mafia: Trilogy from the Microsoft Store. There are in-game bonuses available for pre-ordering/purchasing various titles, and all existing owners of Mafia III on Xbox One will also be upgraded to Mafia III: Definitive Edition at no extra cost.
Furthermore, those who own a combination of titles will reportedly receive "special discounted upgrade offers" to complete their trilogy via in-game menus.

It makes sense to just buy the trilogy since basically your getting Mafia: Definitive Edition for free. But for me I’ve no desire to play through Mafia 3 again and Mafia 2 I already own the 360 version via BC but I may get the Definitive Edition in a sale some day.
I’m definitely getting the remake of the first on day one though.
Yea I’ll just wait until I can buy all three at once & play then in order.
Well all I want is 1 and 2 already played and beat 3 and the DLC on PS4 but $70 for just 1 and 2 and $60 for all 3 together. Guess it just means 3 will sit in my library of undownloaded games.
@KelticDevil While it would make sense to play them in order, wouldn’t it bother you playing the first which will have much better graphics and gameplay mechanics and then starting the second game which will be a downgrade from the first in every aspect?
@MaccaMUFC
Not really. I know what you mean, though.
But it’s kind of like Resident Evil. I’d rather play the remaster of Resident Evil 0 & 1 first before I play the remaster of RE2, if that makes any sense?
@MaccaMUFC Having play all.three, they second one does have spoilers for the first game and 3 has spoilers for both 2 and 3 so if your new to the series or haven't played them in years then you would want to play them in order. Which is one reason I think it's odd releasing 2 and 3 now and then 1 this August. While I understand why because one is being built from the ground up while 2 is just a remaster and 3 is just 3, they should have just released them all in August.
"It's finally official"
Mafia Un-Trilogy: the story of a series of games neither being released in the right order, nor as an actual, complete collection of three games...
Only one I'm interested in playing again is the first. Might be a day one buy but that Mafia 3 engine is trash from what I remember so I'll be interested to know if the game has framerate or graphical issues.
