It's not surprising that a vast number of Xbox fans don't particularly enjoy the idea of facing giant spiders head-on, whether it's in a videogame or real life! Developer Obsidian has this covered with its upcoming survival game Grounded, confirming that an Arachnophobia Mode will be part of the Xbox One and PC exclusive.
The company mentioned this in response to someone on Twitter who indicated the giant spiders in the game's recent Inside Xbox trailer meant they were unlikely to play much of the title:
This is the only info we have to go on for now, but either way, it's nice to see Obsidian taking gamers of all kinds into account. Facing giant bugs and other backyard menaces looks to be a big part of Grounded (coming to Xbox Game Preview on July 28), so it'll be interesting to see how the Arachnophobia Mode is implemented.
Will you be utilising the Arachnophobia Mode in Grounded, or do you think it's overkill? Let us know below.

Haha! This is fantastic! I personally wanted to beat back Aragog...
@Mamabear I HATE spiders in games, so I'm very happy with this
@FraserG me too man! Spiders have always creeped me out. I remember in Darksiders 2 there's a boss battle with a spider like creature and I literally did the whole thing with my eyes closed lol!
I didn't know this was actually a thing. 😁
Considering, I have nightmares thanks to Animal Crossing, I’ll take this
(... And people make entire islands of these beasts)
