On Thursday evening UK time, there was a bit of a bug on the Xbox Games Store that set the price of both Fallout 4 and the Fallout 4 Deluxe Edition to approximately $0.00.
A whole stack of people obviously cottoned on as soon as it was posted on Reddit and waded in to get their free game. The price was fixed an hour or two later but the "free" game continued to work, leading folks to think that they'd made off with a nice score.
Not so, sadly. Microsoft has started revoking licences on the game for those who picked it up for nothing but, as a goodwill gesture, is giving those affected $10 in Xbox credit, as you can see from the above message that was sent to a pX reader.
The game is still working for some for the time being, but the chances are that sooner, rather than later, you'll run into the old "Do You Own This Game?" error message if you nabbed it for free and try to fire it up.

It's ridiculous that they gave people $10 for trying to rip off a developer.
Yea Mine still works, maybe i'll mess around w/ it awhile it lasts. Then again I "bought" the normal stuff and season pass, not the digital deluxe.
"Here is $10 for greedily trying to steal from us" how i does that make sense? This has to be the most backwards s*** I've heard all year.

Damn, it's great they didn't punish them, but I never thought I'd be saying this: Aren't they being too generous? Oh well, I'm not complaining.
Pretty nice of Microsoft to do this. Can't complain about a free $10.
@tylertreese
Seriously. They should have said "System error. You don't get the game; try paying for it, freeloader." End of story. No $10.
LOL at the replys of those that missed out on this.
Thanks for the $10 Microsoft!
