In an interview with Reddit Games, Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb has confirmed that the Xbox One's HDMI input will allow you to plug all sorts of devices into it. Including the Xbox 360.
In the interview, it was mentioned that you could plug a Windows PC in too, and as the port is just a straight HDMI pass-thru (more or less), you can switch between the Xbox One and HDMI input interfaces in a flash, the same way that Microsoft demonstrated that you'd be able to switch between games and TV content back at the Xbox Reveal Event.
So if you have an Xbox 360 already, that means that you only have to use one HDMI input on your TV to be able to play Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles. Ah! So THAT'S why Microsoft have released a new style Xbox 360 that complements the Xbox One...

People will probably scoff at this feature but it's actually something I was hoping would be possible and I'll be making full use of it. I've already got a 4 port HDMI splitter and 4 HDMI ports on my TV and they're all in use - thanks for bringing it to my attention.
But then you won't be able to plugin a receiver and miss out on the tv functionality.
Does this mean you could use the new Kinect in conjunction with the old xbox?
This is strangely stupid yet cool at the same time
LOL, I guess it makes it more b/c than PS4. One of my friends who plans on getting both this and PS4 is going to have a cluttered mess in his entertainment center because thanks to Sony and MS it's almost necessary to keep your old consoles. Me personally, I'm buying a PS4 to play PS4 games and b/c isn't a big deal to me but apparently some people really need it.
.....really? Why is this a feature? oO
What a neat feature!
This is the first thing that came to my mind after reading the article.
just wondering why I would want to plug sky hd receiver into xbox one. why have 2 devices on at the same time when I can use just one?
Something doesn't quite make sense ehre, this says yo7u plug it into the imput, not the output. So where would you plug in your TV? I figured XBox One only has 1 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out.
Another thing too I thought it as the output that utilizes the pass-through? Any clarification on this?
@ DaveGX - you plug the 360 into the XBone's HDMI input - the TV will already be connected to the XBone's HDMI output. You'll be able to have the 360 audio and video signals pass through the XBone to the TV.
