After a bunch of delays, Stalker 2 is turning out to be one of the most anticipated Xbox Game Pass titles for the end of 2024 - and the good news is that its release date is right around the corner!
So, ahead of that launch, we're going to tell you everything you need to know about Stalker 2 and its Xbox Game Pass release. This is going to be a huge experience on Xbox and PC, so it's probably worth clearing your calendar — and a big chunk of SSD space — before getting stuck in.
Here's everything you need to know about Stalker 2 on Xbox Game Pass:
Stalker 2: Release Date On Xbox
Stalker 2 launches for Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 20th, 2024.
There's no form of early access with this title - all versions of the game arrive on that date.
Stalker 2: Xbox Series X|S Release Times
Stalker 2 will go live at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT on November 20th.
The team has also provided a global release times map, which we've included down below.

Stalker 2: Download Size For Xbox Series X|S
Stalker 2 is a big install on Xbox consoles - the game's download size is roughly 146GB on both Xbox Series X and S.
This is almost half of the usable space on a base Xbox Series S, so it's definitely worth making sure you have plenty of room on your SSD before attempting to play Stalker 2.
Is Stalker 2 On Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Stalker 2 is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one! Subscribers can access the standard edition of the game on November 20th.
There are also 'Deluxe' and 'Ultimate' editions of Stalker 2 on the Xbox Store, but there's no Xbox Game Pass upgrade path to either of these versions as of yet.
Stalker 2 is not coming to Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Standard either - you have to be subscribed to Ultimate to access the game on Xbox.
Stalker 2: Early Reviews / Previews For Xbox
As things stand, Stalker 2 reviews aren't out yet, so we'll have to wait a little longer for some official thoughts on the final version of the game. The embargo time for Stalker 2 reviews has not been publicly announced.
However, we have had multiple rounds of Stalker 2 previews in recent months - including our own hands-on impressions here at Pure Xbox. We'll include some links to those pre-release thoughts down below.
Stalker 2: Performance Targets On Xbox Series X|S
Last month, the developer confirmed that Stalker 2 will run up to 60FPS on Xbox Series X.
At the time, the team also revealed that Xbox Series S would be 30FPS, but that additional work was being done to improve the frame rate before launch. We'll see how the game is ultimately running when it releases.
Is Stalker 2 Coming To Xbox One?
Stalker 2 is launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC only, meaning there's no Xbox One version of the game.
However, the game will be on Xbox Cloud Gaming as part of your Game Pass Ultimate subscription, so you can stream the game over the internet on Xbox One.
And, there we have it! We hope this was all useful information, and that you go on to enjoy Stalker 2 on Xbox Game Pass.

Blah blah all downloaded and ready to go.
Any news on the reviews please?
@OldGamer999 rumours online are saying the review embargo is 2 hours before release.
Locked & loaded. All set to get wrecked by anomalies while running away from some four leg nightmare after my gun jams or broke mid fight.
When are reviews? I’ve heard people not getting codes until late?
Also seen unflattering screenshots and people commenting on performance issues.
I’m really hoping this is just because it hasn’t got a day 1 patch yet.
I hope PureXbox has a review code!
What with MS Flight Sim tomorrow and this on Wednesday, I'm spoilt for choice on what to play 🤔😁
@Ilyn
I did just see that, 2 hours before release.
Oh well shall find out soon if the game is worth it and how it plays and looks on Series x.
All the footage we have seen recently has been on high end PCs capable of launching a space rocket to Mars.
@somnambulance
I’m sure Pure Xbox can tell us in this thread if they code to review?
The weirdness around this does concern me, but I hope I’m very wrong.
my Series S is cowering in the corner. I've told it everything will be okay.
@DoctorJohnDisco Ha, I did the same. I've got 7 days lined upand have not s started anything new.
I want this to be great so bad, the last minute review embargo has me a little worried though.
I'm burned out on disappointing Xbox heavy hitters showing up limp
@OldGamer999 The PC specs for it are pretty wild also, you are talking a 4070 for recommended settings so it will be interesting to see how it translates to console.
@OldGamer999 I don’t mind when the reviews come out as long as I get to read something before I play. It’s Game Pass, so that’s lower stress than a purchase (especially with this month having such a strong release schedule), but I still like to read the reviews. I trust this site’s staff in particular.
As some one who had never heard of this series (prior to this one), what sort of game does this play like?
I see it is FPS with survival? Would it play like a Far Cry game?
Just checked and I have a near 140gb update after downloading the 150gb game and a patch. Oof.
@OldGamer999 That would be me.....of course that means nothing lol
@somnambulance
Heads up another Stalker 2 update just released
36.66 gb.
Mines just doing it now series x.

While I do have a very competent PC myself it's no secret that [generally] many recommended PC specs are somewhat exaggerated.
I'm sure it'll be fine on consoles, albeit with a handful of compromises.
As a fan of STALKER when it first appeared on PC I'm more curious as to how well it will be received by your average, mass-market console only gamer. STALKER is more about survival as opposed to running-and-gunning. That's not a criticism of the discerning gamer here, more those outside of communities like this one. I've a feeling it'll be a case of "Oh, not what I expected?"
