It's been a very long wait for the arrival of Stalker 2 on Xbox Game Pass, but we're in the final stretch now, which is very exciting indeed. The open world shooter is about a month away from launching, and today, a bunch of early previews have dropped - with the game sounding like a real treat to play.
We'll round up a bunch of these early impressions down below, so you can get a flavour of what's being said about the upcoming Game Pass title ahead of its November 2024 launch.
IGN
"When I wasn't taking stock of my paltry ammunition levels and hunger gauge, I was looking out at beautiful fields of red poppy flowers. When I wasn’t getting distracted by an interesting side quest I was doing my best to lure the mutants into an anomaly trap. And while it was over just when it felt like it was getting extra good, it had still left its impression. The impression that the team at GSC Game World has created something special with STALKER 2."
Eurogamer
"In an age of clockwork soulslikes and heavily curated experiences like God of War: Ragnarök, the flexibility and adaptability of Stalker's 2 irradiated sandbox is refreshing and intriguing. If it continues to expand and elaborate upon that across the whole of its exclusion Zone, then GSC Game World might just have something special on their hands."
VGC
"We’re keen to have the final game in our hands, after what was an impressive few hours. It’s hard to imagine most studios making even a decent game in these circumstances, but for GSC Game World to emerge from the literal rubble of their home city, with something so promising, is incredibly inspiring."
Windows Central
"Make no mistake, Stalker 2 is a game-of-the-year contender, and I feel immensely privileged to have been able to bring you this glimpse of a rare game that looks set to not only do justice to a legendary predecessor but take its franchise to all-new heights in the process."
GameSpot
"Stalker 2 perfectly balances the desire to discover what's hidden out there, like a field full of whispering poppies, with the unnerving knowledge that the Zone is also full of things that can and likely will kill you. Though it can sometimes feel like a throwback to older games, especially in elements like its combat, it's that feeling that also helps make Stalker 2 both frightening and compelling."
A good few months ago now, we previewed Stalker 2 here at Pure Xbox, and we were similarly impressed by what we played. For a good look at that, check out the link down below - and you can go hands on with this Xbox Game Pass title on November 20th.

Sounds like a real treat!
I'm so proud of this studio to land such a complex game in the midst of such a terrible home situation. I can only hope the praise is universal and they are recognised for their efforts.
Відмінно!
Yeah, truly hope this is going to be a hit, they deserve it!
This game will have me resubbing day one.
I hope this is a slam dunk for GSC and Microsoft mimic the conditions for other studios.
Sans active combat area, before someone makes the sour joke.
With me having cancelled my AC Shadows preorder, maybe it’s getting close to time to rejoin the GP community after dropping the service for most of the year. Looking forward to seeing if Stalker and Indy hit for me.

Exactly why I have an Xbox and not a PS5: Open-ended Western RPGs.
Most anticipated release of the year. Excited.
Well done team Stalker 2 and well deserved.
Do hope the final reviews blow this game out the water.
Well, my anticipation levels have just gone up considerably, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was already at the top of my must play list. Even though I have GPU, I'll be buying this just to show the Developers some love and appreciation.
Do we need prior knowledge of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. world to fully appreciate and understand the game, @Kezelpaso? In other words, do I need to have played the first 2 games to understand what's going on, or is this new game a good starting point...?
Lastly, has anyone played the first two games on the Xbox? What are they like? I struggle to play older games if they play like old games, as an example, I play Resident Evil 1 a couple of years back, and although I finished it, I really didn't enjoy the experience when compared to the more recent remakes...
Come on GSC Game World, we're all rooting for you!
I know I can’t find the right thread.
Totally different boxing inside the Xbox series x discless white console to the disc console.
It’s all like boxes in boxes 🤣
I thought the first game was horrible. Let's see how this one is.
I’m currently playing through the very first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl and I’m really enjoying it. I was waiting for the Series X/S patch before buying it but wanted to play it before S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 releases. I’ll get Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat once the Series X/S patch is out for them. I’m so glad GSC Game World have brought the whole franchise over to console.
I can’t wait for this release. Great game pass result
Man I've been drooling over this game since it was announced. but somehow they keep raising the bar because people are really singing it's praises.good for gsc and game pass also good for those of us who will be playing on day 1!I have gpu but i still pre-ordered a copy to support the GSC team cuz they've been through so much and hopefully they get the worldwide recognition they deserve
I am so excited for this game, really looking forward to it.
If it reviews well with no major bugs In heading straight of out to grab it!
I rarely preorder games, but I did it for this one after watching the documentary. I mean, this studio should be praised for how they handled things during the war + cooked this (probably) awesome game.
I have high hopes for this game, it can be great from what I´ve read and watched so far. Looking forward to it
