Topic: Do you like the new dashboard?

Me too. My experience with the new dashboard so far is definitely not positive! Constant shut downs and then won't recognise the disc drive is probably the most annoying. It also seems to have moved a step away from 'gaming' and I find it annoying that the 'invite to party and game' option is missing too. You have to invite to party then invite to game (or vice versa).

If it launches like this to everyone, I can see a LOT of very disappointed and annoyed XB1 users!

I got the 2nd update last night and noticed this when joining a GTA V party. I really hope this is something that will be addressed/fixed.

Yeah, they do have a history of going back a bit to go forwards.

Looks like the dashboard has been in development for a loonnngggg time and the devs were using very old versions of the Boners crapps.

Update: Since receiving the 2nd update for the new dashboard, by XBone is very flaky. I've now stared experiencing games hanging/crashing and even complete power-down of the console mid-game. I appreciate it's a BETA, but this is shite. I'm seriously considering uninstalling it - if that's even possible.

You can uninstall it yes, it was one of the things I looked into before decided to play it safe (for once!). But... if you do it will basically wipe your console so you will have to re-install all your games and re-download any digital ones too. Your game saves will be fine though (in the cloud).

@stylon: Jeez! Maybe I'll suffer it until it's fixed then. I added an extra 500Gb a few weeks ago so I could reinstall some of the games I'd removed due to lack of space. This is the first preview program update I've had trouble with. Definitely think twice in future as I don't even like the new look - even when it's working LOL

@sorethumbed: One thing that helps out a lot of people with issues on the new dashboard is the auto-sign-in. Try to disable that, restart your console(hard reset) and see if you have any luck.

Thanks for that. Don't seem to have signin issues though and I've hard reset the console a couple of times.

Just got a message off Xbox live saying that ALL preview members will now be getting the 'NXOE' very shortly - unless you actually opt-out of the programme completely...

I've got a bit of a problem as I deleted the preview registration app after having a few problems with it not connecting and now I can't re-install it... when I find it on the store the only option I get is to pin it to my dashboard Nooooooooo

@stylon: Ooops. Surely they must have improved the issues if they are widening the audience now? I'm seriously contemplating exiting the preview program completely.

@Captain_Chao5: If you get a spare moment would you mind firing me an invite to the program please. Hoping it will trigger a message with a link to download the registration app... not sure it will work given I'm already in the program but worth a go!

Well despite the fact that I never opted in, yesterday I got the NXOE dashboard so I'd guess that anyone else who is part of the preview but didn't opt in to the new dash will be in the same boat. Things got off to a disastrous start - the update froze at 80% and despite about a dozen hard resets my Xbox wouldn't boot up. Long story short, I ended up creating a recovery USB stick and resetting my Xbox to factory defaults, losing everything installed on it.

Having said that, now I'm getting used to the layout, I like it, especially the new easily accessible friends list and the revamped store. Missed opportunity to have another row of icons for your installed games though - it's very tedious scrolling through them if you have a lot and getting to the backward compatibility list on the far right can take forever!

Only problems I've had so far is that game captures in my feed only play for a few seconds and then freeze and I'm having streaming issues with Amazon Prime Instant Video causing a low quality picture but restarting the app a few times seems to cure it Was initially excited to see the return of the Avatar store too, for all of 5 seconds until I realised it just linked to a website... I want that functionality back in the app itself.

Overall, it is MUCH better than the original dash... I just hate double tapping the Xbox button for the guide, it only works half the time. I'm disappointed that the games and apps section wasn't revamped, it's a huge pain when you have a lot of games like stylon said. Same with Upload now turned Game DVR. Game DVR is as leggy and buggy as ever still.

I got a 2nd message the day before I got the update. When you get that one expect the worst lol...

Just for the record, the weird characters are a purposeful thing. They're formatted that way so that Microsoft can test different font support (different font sets for different nationalities, etc) and spacing.

It's like Russian Roulette only with messages... one day you'll read one and then bam... 'system update required'... lol

Ok for you guys that have had the new dash for a while cab you tell me how to get the achievements app to open up full screen please?

Also where has the friends gamerscore leader board gone and also upload?
