Personally I don't connect my Sky box through the Xbox either. Partly because my xbox is never on standby if not in use and also because my TV has an adequate number (4) of HDMi ports for all my equipment so all can be connected directly.

@BAMozzy: My TV has 4 HDMI's too but it's one short so the HDMI thru is a godsend, plus it's damn cool being able to launch Sky F1 (or whatever) whilst playing a game without skipping a beat and even having it snapped whilst you are playing - especially with F1 these days ). My Xbox is basically at the hub of everything, when I turn it on it also turns on the TV, my Receiver and my Sky box if needed... Will have to hope it's just a glitch and they'll sort it out soon.
@stylon: Don't get me wrong, I can see its attraction for a lot of people. It doesn't suit my preference - that's all.
My TV has 4 - one for each of my pieces of connected equipment - Sky, XB1, PS4 and Home Theatre. I have another TV in another room with my PS3 and XB360 connected. Whenever I turn on any of my equipment, it also turns on my TV or switches over the source to it. I never 'snap' anything, in fact I hate that feature and find it very annoying (again I understand that others may really enjoy and get a lot out of it). If I am playing a game or watching something, I prefer to have it at 'full screen' and don't like 'distractions'. I can think of nothing worse than being at an important stage in a game and either being distracted or missing something on TV and vice versa. I know F1 can be a bit of a procession so maybe possible to have on in the background and not miss much. I still prefer to watch/play things full screen and see no point in having multiple devices on just to watch TV and therefore it suits me better to have the direct connection.
hopefully they will sort things out for those like yourself that does use this option but as I don't, I can't help or comment. I would suggest sending MS a report about the issue to make sure they are aware and maybe even get some information about a solution

I downloaded the cat just now and you know what? Despite my previous ridiculing on a few threads on here it's actually pretty cool. It's well animated and fun to watch - and is now my favourite prop.
