I'm in my early 60s and love to play first-person shooter games. I'm wondering if there are others in my age range that play games and what games are they playing?
I'll be 56 this year and still love playing xbox games. Currently playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I tend to prefer single player games and I'm crap at MP shooters LOL
You don't stop gaming because you get old, you get old because you stop gaming.
I'm 49 this year and enjoy playing my Series X, although I too tend to stick to single player, with the very occasional jaunt into Halo multi player. I get far too frustrated with online as I'm usually terrible at it.
I will be 40 this year... My gaming taste has changed a bit with time. Mostly as I almost completely dropped FPS, fighters and more because there are not many available RTS). This has been because I was never a very competitive person and those genre are nowadays almost only for that.
I tend to play 90% of the time platformers, metroidvania, RPG and TPS/action adventure
I'm 49 this year, and was chatting about this with a friend recently, how our tastes in games have changed over the years. Since COVID I have been getting into RPGs, something I had zero interest in when I was younger. Recently finished Witcher 3, and v much looking forward to Mass Effect trilogy and Cyberpunk this year!
I’m edging closer to 40 now! My gaming habits definitely change, sometimes online with a friend, but recently pretty much exclusively playing solo games. Quite a wide variety, from Mario Wonder to Red Dead, to Avatar right now. Whenever I get back into a good solo game it reminds me why I enjoy them so much!
Online is fun but I only play with friends who I know in person.
I’m 55 and have been gaming since the days of Space Invaders and the Atari VCS. No intention of stopping now! I like to alternate big in-depth games (BG3, Starfield etc.) with shorter indie oddities (Dredge, Jusant etc.)
i’m in my 20s but feel older when it comes to games . i don’t enjoy them like i used to, but i honestly blame it on lack of good new IPs instead of my age .
@nomither6 wait until you get into your 60s. The game play seems faster than what I remember. I can't play Doom. It just too fast even in crybaby mode.

Recently turned 42, and my tastes are the same, but the industry has changed. You're right, everything got competitive, but it's also been pushed more and more simulation on everything. More realism, instead of just graphics looking more real. I hate ADS. I'll never understand the appeal of the weapon blocking half the ***** screen. Give me the option of the old school reticule.
Lots of games used to offer infinite ammo and other fun modes/options. I put 187 DAYS on Halo Reach because of the arcade style firefight and some social PVP (multi-team, etc). Gears 3 also had infinite ammo and super bullets for horde, but the new ones are a sh**fest of ammo starvation, and the devs spent more time blocking speedruns on 4 than actually adding features to make it fun. The only thing I look forward to now is new Earth Defense Force games on PS, since they skip Xbox lately. Nothing else seems to offer infinite ammo and arcade shooter fun in co-op.
I used to like hack and slash games too. Now everything is either ***** slow "Souls like" or just terrible in some way while being called an "action RPG". What happened to all the proper hack and slash games? I did play the ***** out of Sekiro and beat it on the highest possible difficulty (NG+7+bell-charmless).
Sports/racing titles went to ***** too. All sim, including the wrestling games...even though wrestling was never real to begin with!
Nobody seems to offer anything really addictive to grind stats on like Reach was back in the day, or uncapped leveling like Diablo 3 was, etc. Even when I find something decent like Sniper Elite 4, the leaderboards are full of obvious hackers the devs won't do anything about, and the newest game (Sniper Elite 5) was ***** compared to 4. Those devs ***** up Zombie Army 4 too with DLC weapons never appearing in online survival whether you own them or now. Total *****.
I'm well into my 50's now and I'm finding myself playing on the consoles a lot less these days. I'm in the process of building a cabinet and sticking Launchbox on it with Mame, Naomi, Sammy and Teknoparrot. That been said I have Tekken 8 coming this Friday and looking forward to losing myself in that for the next few months. But I find myself going back to the old arcade games from my youth more and more.
I'm hitting the big 60 this year, but my appetite for gaming remains undiminished. Since the first space invaders games when I was 15, to date, Ive been almost compulsive. Even made it my living for 2 decades.
My reactions arent quite what they were, but I finish most games 😊
I have gone off online games altogether and much prefer moving things around a screen in peace, whilst listening to a podcast or having a youtube video on in the background. Puzzle games, 2d platformers, musuo games and driving games are my bag.

On Sunday, I played Halo for 4 hours. The next day my wrist was really sore. I was talking to my doctor and he said I have Gamer's Wrist. This is an actual injury.
He recommended I ice the wrist and, before I play again, I should stretch the wrist tendons for both hands. When done gaming, I should stretch the wrists again and ice the store wrist.
