I couldn't find a film thread so I thought id kick one off! Watched Captain America Civil War last night and really enjoyed it. The tone is much darker than previous Marvel fare and the first hour was a bit talk heavy but Spider Man, my god, he knocked it out the park! He smashed Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield for their interpretation of the wall crawler and for me was the star of the show. Also Black Panther was great and probably my second favourite of the film. Highly recommended for any superhero fan!
Saw it last week and it was pretty decent. I much preferred Toby Maguire as Spider-man, but I'm in the minority according to everyone I've spoken to...
Is anyone going to see X-Men when that releases in a couple of weeks? I'm quite excited for that as it looks amazing from what I've seen and I have really enjoyed the last two films.
I haven't seen the new Captain America film yet, so I can't comment on the new guy, but I'd always thought Maquire's Spider Man was the preferred one over Garfield's (this is the first time I've ran across the opposite consensus, anyhow).

Seems that X-Men isn't going so well on the reviews front. I will still go and see it to make my own mind up but I think it's going to be a bit of a let down.
Just seen that theres a reboot of Rocky Horror coming. Hope its good, one of my all time favourite musicals. Loved the original with Tim Curry. Woman in the part this time.
@sorethumbed: I noticed that too. The film is great and so is the stage show. It wouldn't be right to have a woman play Frank though! Not sure how it will work as a TV (that's television ) show - its not got me 'shivering with antici........

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@BAMozzy: Im not sure either but either way it reminded me of a great film and musical that whilst one of my favourites, I'd all but forgotten about (gettting easier ).
Sorry but my wife forced me to sit through this movie not long after we first met (ie a long time ago) and I'd have to rank it as possibly THE worst 'movie' I've ever seen in my life. If this wasn't a public forum I'd have used far more colourful words to describe my loathing but suffice to say I'm not interested in a reboot!
I will confess that I too preferred Andrew Garfield as Spidey though... make of that what you will
@stylon I thought that Garfield was better than Maguire but the new guy beats them both comfortably (in my opinion, obvs). I quite enjoyed Rocky Horror (my wife introduced me to it) and I thought it was a good bit of entertainment.
So, since these old threads were inactive due to the site being shut down & not due to regular disuse, would it just be okay to still use them? I'll post, but if I'm told to start a new movie thread instead I will. Anyhow...
This morning I watched Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance (Blu-Ray).
The second film in the Evangelion remake line, it's animated just as beautifully as the first (in addition to the stunning action sequences, I really enjoy the scenery shots, especially those that center on Tokyo III "waking up" or readying for combat). While it still mostly retells the events of the TV series at this point, major deviations are starting to show themselves such as a completely new Eva pilot, the changing of a pilot during a major accident, and that out of this world finale! After this point it'll be all new to me as I haven't yet seen 3.33, and am interested in seeing how this plays out.
