Last week, a nine year old Xbox One game got patched to 60FPS on Xbox Series X|S in the form of Assassin's Creed Syndicate - and the surprise move from Ubisoft has us thinking and wishing and dreaming about what other Xbox titles could still get the 60FPS treatment.
The first game that immediately comes to mind here is Red Dead Redemption 2. We've ranted about this game not being 60FPS yet in the past, and we're using this little old talking point to do the same thing here. Why is this game — and even its predecessor for that matter — not 60FPS on Series X and S yet? It's baffling that Rockstar hasn't sorted this out!
But, those Red Dead games are some of the more obvious picks for this topic, so - how about some more obscure choices? Assassin's Creed Syndicate's 60FPS update came out of nowhere and seems quite random, so it stands to reason that pretty much anything could still be updated if the devs wanted to do it!
For our more 'out there' choices, we're thinking back to that early Xbox One era here. What about Ryse: Son of Rome, Sunset Overdrive, or even an old third party pick like Batman: Arkham Knight? Those games are from 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively - but any of them could still be updated for modern consoles if the game makers decided it was worth doing.
Anyway, is there anything you have in mind for this? How about a less obvious 60FPS pick? Drop your ideas down below!

Lost Odyssey.
They aren’t exactly on older consoles, but Crash and Spyro trilogy should have always been 60fps.
Dishonored 2. The fact that the entire rest of the series can be played at 60fps on Series X due to FPS boost but not this one is a big omission. Microsoft even own the studio now... just give us a 60fps patch.
Also Avowed...
Avowed please.
Kingdom Come Deliverance would be nice
Mass Effect Andromeda. The One X is enhancement is nice but it could do with a 60fps patch.
RDR2, RDR1, The Orange Box (yes, I know there’s a hack but it’s a ball ache), Hellblade 2, Avowed, Dishonored 2, Quantum Break, Portal 2, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Assasins Creed 3 remastered (the 4K version) and Sunset Overdrive.
Oh, and the new Fable….please.
It's the fact that it's also 4k. 4k60fps on Black Flag, Unity, Rysr, Far Cry 4, would be the dream.
Spyro the Reignited Trilogy, Crash Team Racing, RDR2, Xbox 360 games when possible and every new release.
RDR2 are Arkham Knight are always the obvious ones. Given how good the XSX/PS5 patch was for Sniper Elite 4, I'd quite like Sniper Elite 3 to get the same treatment.
Dishonored 2. It makes no sense that the first one and death of the outsider are 60fps but not it.
I played AC Syndicate (again) over the weekend, and was surprised at just how good this update is. The parkour is really fluid now, and the resolution boost is nice. Would like to see AC Unity receive the same treatment.
If we can just get stalker 2 to run on 10 fps consistency rn it'd be great lol.
All of them in a perfect world as 30 is just not great. But if i only got to have one it is for sure RDR2. However at this point with the next Xbox rumored to be around 26-27 i might as well wait and get RDR2 with more than just a 60fps patch. It could have all the bells and whistles.
@Lofty1985 thats called a PC with a higher end CPU. But i must say i am running COD BO6 at 120fps on Series X for multiplayer and my TV does 120 with VRR and it makes such a difference. It’s really nice. Almost makes me want to drop the cash on a high end PC.
Wildlands.
New Vegas, Far Cry 4 and Primal need 4K.
Yakuza Kiwami 2. All of the other Yakuza games play at 60 fps except for that one.
@Topov81 Arkham Knight is a great shout. I was replaying it recently and it really is an amazing looking game that still stands up in 2024. A 60fps patch with a few updated assets would go down a treat.
Yakuza Kiwami 2.
Far Cry Classic, Far Cry Instincts: Predator, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Quantum Break, Initial2, Max Payne 3, Psychonauts, Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Tell Me Why
Kingdom Come Deliverance please. Still looks phenomenal just needs that sweet 60fps.
I'm fine as it is.
Literally any game stuck at 30fps.
If the power is there on console why also end at 60fps give us 120fps upgrades.
End of story.
Why in 2024 are there any 30fps, every game made should run at 60fps min, with Xbox X getting 120fps patches/updates...Just sad, lazy and nothing but milking the cows...
Alice: Madness Returns, Lost Odyssey, Crimson Skies, The Darkness, Conker, Black, MX Unleashed, Breakdown... the list goes on! Emphasis on back compat games, since most of those don't have a 60fps PC version available.
Too Human and the Crackdown series would be nice, too, but I get that there's not exactly a financial incentive there!
@TTgowings Keep in mind that most of the remaining 30fps games are from the Xbox One or earlier, though there are unfortunately some modern games as well that can't hold a constant 60fps. I'm with you in that I want everything to be 60fps minimum (and will give up the modern bells and whistles to get that, if necessary).
At least many of these newer ones are future-proofed with 60fps and/or uncapped options!
Yakuza Kiwami 2 for sure.
It would be possible to run at 1440p60, just like Yakuza LAD, Yakuza 6, and Judgment.
Splinter Cell games
Sekiro on series s. Whole Batman Arkham trilogy. Ryse Son of Rome,, Quantum break.
The Mafia collection needs some love. Mafia 3 specifically.
@Lofty1985 yeah the higher the fps the better for sure. It’s just the cpu in consoles are so weak that it just don’t have the power. But i hear what you are saying for sure. Would be nice. At least 60fps on all games.
How about all of them, and while they're at it make whatever they can 120 FPS.
Both Red Dead Redemption games. But if I had to pick, I'll be happy if they only do 2!
@smoreon - I’m pretty sure Crimson Skies does now run at 60fps (Gamepass, Series X….so probably Series S as well).
Putting in another vote for Yakuza Kiwami 2. That and Dishonored 2 just feel like weird omissions next to everything else in their respective series. If there's some bugs that prevent FPS Boost from being possible, then I understand. But come on… please? I think those two games warrant bespoke patches.
Also, both Portal games! And, a bit of a wildcard; Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.
Ashen, Spyro, Alice: Madness Returns
Anything that isn’t 60fps already really.
I would be most pleased with a 60fps patch for the spyro and crash remakes. Definitely Red Dead Redemption 1 + 2 and GTA4 as well (if360 games count).
@Feffster Nope, no reference to it being included in the FPS Boost program, nor are there any videos of it running at 60fps on YouTube.
Unless this was a late addition (e.g, just this year), and it slipped under everyone's radar?
@smoreon - I might be wrong but my head is saying it is at 60. It’s on Gamepass, so you can download from there if you have it. I didn’t ever play the original on PC - just Crimson Skies High Road To Revenge back in the day (original Xbox). I’ll have a look over the weekend and see how it’s running on Series X.
Edit - from IGN “ 60 fps
Check out the first 12 minutes of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge gameplay on Xbox Series X. With the Original Xbox game releasing today on Game Pass, you can now play Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge at 60 fps, among other graphical improvements.”
@Feffster IGN says that, but their video shows it running at 30fps. Same with all of the other "60fps" videos out there. If you find real 60fps footage of it, please let me know!
Unfortunately, I still have a last-gen potato, as there haven't been quite enough FPS boost games to convince me to get with the times!
