Welcome to the weekend! The next couple of days mark your first weekend to check out the likes of Stalker 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Genshin Impact, while we also have a few Free Play Days titles along with hundreds and hundreds of Black Friday deals on the Xbox Store!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
Well, my original plan was to be almost finished with the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 review by now, but considering how many issues that game has had over the past few days, I haven't even started. If everything works smoothly over the weekend, I'll be playing it, but otherwise it'll have to remain on the back burner until next week.
I'm not really interested in Stalker 2 personally (sorry, just not my thing), so I might just play some Still Wakes The Deep this weekend, which I've been meaning to get into for a while, as well as some Portal Companion Collection on my Nintendo Switch - I've played those games on Xbox before, but I'm enjoying the handheld experience!
Have a good weekend, folks.
What are you playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

I'm certainly playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
Loving my GamePass
👍😉👍
I'm over 140 hours into Dragon Age: Veilguard, and am very much enjoying it...
I'm gonna give stalker 2 a bit more time to bake before going back I'll be on black ops multiplayer mostly maybe some Spyro reignited to brake it up
Stalker 2 all day & most of the night. Its the stalker franchise turned up to 11 jank included but I am still having fun. Most atmospheric & immersive game I have ever play that will only get better going forward.
We’re playing Kingdom Two Crowns Norselands at the moment in co-op. Last week we played the heavily inspired Monarchy.
Series X: Jumping between Hellblade and Fractured But Whole.
I was supposed to start Flight Sim 24 and Stalker 2 but with launch issues and bugs I have put them both on hold.
PS5: Stellar Blade, hunting down the NieR costumes before starting my 5th NG+. Yes, it's that good!
Switch: I picked up DQ11 on sale. I've played it before on Gamepass but considering how great that game is I just had to do another run. Also, sidequesting TotK.
This weekend I’m playing Dragon Age: Origins for the very first time, thanks to Xbox Series X and Game Pass. Holy smokes—this game is impressive. For context, my first Dragon Age game was Inquisition, subsequently followed up ten years later with Veilguard (both games I love). I even got the platinum for Veilguard. However, now that I’m playing Origins, I can wholeheartedly understand why people consider Veilguard’s writing and characters inferior.
Absolutely Stalker 2. Been a while since I was so hooked on game.
On PS5- Horizon: Forbidden West (on hold- reasons below)
On xCloud- Stalker 2. I hated the first 2 hours or so. It’s rough, but can be a beautiful survival horror game when it works (I’d call it the Dark Souls of fps games). I love the atmosphere and it’s oppressive, unfamiliar and exploration is a blast (sometimes literally if you get hit by an anomaly). In short: everything that Fallout 4 should have been.
On Geforce Now- tried it for the first time. Works beautifully. Decided to test it by playing the first sections of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and now I can’t stop lol.
Not played COD properly since my uni years. I'm now older and slower, but very much enjoying BO6.
Will give stalker and genshin impact a bash this weekend, see if either sticks. Joys of Gamepass!
I really would like to get started on Stalker 2 - it’s all installed and ready to go - but I am deep into Veilguard now and am going to finish that before I play anything else, so I’ll probably wait for my Christmas fortnight before I head into the zone. I have to say, I’ve enjoyed Veilguard as much as I have any DA game.
More Halo 2 for me. I missed this one first time round as I was too busy ruining my liver in some student union bar and was only able to see a little in action on my mate’s Xbox. I have to say it holds up pretty well and after a little rewiring of my gaming brain I’m having a lot of fun. Happy gaming everyone 👍
Jumping back into Diablo 2 resurrected, as I find it a lot better than Diablo 4, which I haven't gone back to for a while
I thought it would be Stalker 2 and Flight Sim but I’m giving both more time to cook.
Series X - Forza Horizon 4 and PGA Tour
PS5Pro - Uncharted 4 and Wipeout Omega Collection
Have a good one everyone.
Flight sim 24 and black ops 6
I might start assassins creed Mirage if I can pull myself away from my aircraft. I am obsessed with flight sim.
@Fiendish-Beaver what do you enjoy about it in particular? Not a fan, but always interested to know this.
The 4/10 game Stalker 2 and loving It 😎 On Series X and PC
Forbidden West on PS5
@Fiendish-Beaver You're iconic for that! Who's your favorite companion if I may ask lol? I already finished my first playthrough of 60 hours and I'm planning to start a new game very soon.
Dragon age on PS5 Pro and probably will get Star Wars outlaws now the update has arrived, also on PS5 Pro as the best place to play third party titles now.
That used to be the Xbox one x and series x.
But Microsoft have even taken that away from Xbox now with no PS5 Pro equivalent.
Microsoft could not kill off a console brand if they tried any harder, sorry but I really do hate Microsoft.
Metal Slug Tactics on Gamepass and Mario & Luigi
Wrapped up my first playthrough of Dragon Age The Veilguard. Right now I'm enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Harmony: The Fall of Reverie. If you're a fan of LiS or Detroit Become Human, this indie gem is for you!
Stalker 2, Death Stranding, Genshin Impact.....so many games.....so much walking....
Stalker 2, Death Stranding, and likely some Fallout 4. I'm clearly in a very post-apocalyptical type of mood. Might also start a run of Elden Ring.
I imagine this weekend it’ll be a casual mix of Flight Sim, Stalker 2, and DQ3 with some multiplayer games with the family perhaps.
I’m not sure how I feel about Stalker 2 yet, but it’s definitely hardcore. Not sure if I’ve had issues or if it’s just merciless. Don’t have any concrete thoughts about it yet.
I will probably switch between Flight sim 24 and total frustration because of playing flight sim 24 ..
Amazing game , great step up IF ( and that is a HUGE IF ) everything works and in 8 out of 10 times it just does not. Nevertheless , I keep playing it.
At the moment, almost all my gaming time is going into Sea of Thieves. Although Rare are doing everything in their power to mess the game up, I am still utterly addicted to it as I try to get the 100% Completion on it. I am also mixing in some Alan Wake 2!
Last night I bought Sorry We're Closed and planning on firing that up today. Looks like it could be just the game I need right now.
I'm doing a Renegade run on Mass Effect 1, still some Ode to Castlevania in Vampire Survivors and just started Romancelvania which I'm enjoying but it desperately needs a map.
Tried again to play Bloodstained but it doesn't click with me. I don't know why. I love Castlevania which that games is in all but name, even has Yamane's music, but still...
I'll keep trying later. I have a feeling once it hooks me I'll love it.
Going to dip back into STALKER 2 this afternoon to see if I’m feeling it more than before. If not then it’ll be back to DA Inquisition or Witcher 3 tomo night.
Was hoping to get access to Veilguard on EA Play Pro but found out yesterday that it’s only for PC users.
Continuing my first playthrough of Lies of P. Great game. The atmosphere is amazing. I usually only play one game at a time but once I finish this definitely stalker 2
Bought the Brotato DLC and enjoying that very much as I have only level 4 and 5 left in the main game… downloaded Genshin Impact to see if I like it… if not then back the PGA 23
This weekend I'm playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake on Switch after having beaten Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door earlier this week.
Will also play Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 with a friend tomorrow, on Switch.
Disney Dreamlight Valley, I recently got back into that. Tekken 8 as well.
Finished some great games since last week
HZD remaster - So I've finished and platinumed this awesome game again. Loved it 😃
CoD Blops 6 - finished the campaign and enjoyed it a lot. Very nice to have a good CoD campaign after the last few really ***** ones.
And I've started Stalker 2. Im a bit torn about this game. On one hand Im enjoying it and really like this kind of game and on the other hand its really rough. Playing on the Series S isnt helping... but it isnt just the technical and buggy side of things it also feels like the game wont last me very long since the story is already lost on me and it then becomes very repetetive playing the almost same things over and over. Still, will keep playing since there are some good parts but I might not keep playing for 40ish hours to finish it on its current state.
TMNT Shredder's Revenge (Series X) Picked up the Ultimate Edition on sale, so I will be checking out all the post launch content. Still one of my favorite beat em Ups
World of Warcraft (PC) Still messing around with Alts.
CoD: Black Ops 6 (Series X) Will be checking out the new MP maps with the boys that dropped with season one update.
I’m slowly making my way through Metaphor on Xbox, I sadly haven’t gotten much console gaming time lately. Persona 5 Royal has gotten more love on Steam Deck while I wait in line for my kids to get out of school.
Finished Steamworld Dig 2 - surprisingly solid Metroidvania. Gonna give Stalker 2 one more week and hope for some essential patches. Might play Cuphead with my partner.
Finishing the campaign of COD Black Ops 6 and after that I think I'm gonna give the Avatar DLC Sky Breaker a chance
Right now I'm playing XIII, the remaster/remake of the original comic book FPS. Its... okay. It would've been better to just release the original version as a BC title instead. The original is still stunning, while this.. is competent.
I'm also playing No Straight Roads: Encore Edition (basically just the original game with improvements and extras). It's a 3rd person combat game about hijacking EDM concerts and bringing rock music back to the world. If you've played Hi-Fi Rush and enjoyed it, give this a look. NSR came out 4 years before Hi-Fi Rush was even a thing, and its awesome. The soundtrack is FANTASTIC.
Like seriously, if you liked HiFi at all, at least give NSR's trailer a watch. It's part Psychonauts, part Jet Set Radio, part angel soul.
It's probably Stalker 2, right?
You know it..
On Xbox its New World Aeternum until Indy arrives.
On my Ps5 i finally bought God of War Ragnarok in the sale so playing that.
On my Legion go its Dragon Quest 3 remake.
Finished
Playing (by recent playing time)
,-Classified France '44
-Advance Wars 1+2(Switch), finished the original, doing part 2
-some Jurassic World Evolution 2, Chase Theory levels.
-some Tekken 8 online
I’m gonna give Stalker 2 a few patches before I jump in…im finally trying Genshin Impact for the first time…yes I know I’m prob the only person in the world who still hasn’t played it yet lol
It most certainly is not S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. More Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival, more Picross S Mega Drive and Master System and MORE Helldivers 2.
60 hours is incredible, @UndyingInsurgent95! I think I smash open too many crates! 😂 I'm still in Act 12 and have already hit level 50, and maxed out all of the stores, and maxed out all the equipped weapons and armour.
I like all the characters in different ways, but I've romanced Harding, which turned out to be interesting because of the affect touching her has! I really like Bellara's positivity, and Lucanis's slight darkness. The other character I enjoy having around is Emmrich.
I also pet Assan every time I'm at the Lighthouse, and find him quite entertaining, and of course playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with Manfred. Simple things that I find ammusing... 🤣
I've enjoyed playing as a Rogue, and basically coming up with a build that seems to be working, @Lrapsody. I started out just using sword attacks, and being all about using Stagger. At about level 20, I decided to keep the Stagger, but build my Rogue into primarily an Archer. Every piece of equipment I have on gives me Stagger, even if that means I have less defence or damage output. I've got far better pieces of armour, but I can stagger enemies pretty quickly, and the damage output on my bow is over 1000, with every 4th arrow raising that to 4000, and every 8th to 6000. I can one shot most small and medium enemies, even if they have barrier or armour, providing I manage to headshot them.
So that's what keeps me entertained, I guess; coming up with a build that works, and then having to be pretty accurate with the bow in order to do weak-spot damage.
I have enjoyed most characters personal quests, and have completed them all now, even though I am yet to complete Act 12. I've hit level 50, maxed out all the Stores, and maxed out all the armour and weapons equipped by my character and all the companions. I just need to finish the game now.
I've not been a fan of some of the writing, and some of the stuff the companions say can be somewhat cheesy. I also dislike just how often you are prompted to do certain things in order to complete puzzles when either it's absolutely obvious, or you haven't had chance to work it out for yourself, but it's definitely either an 8 or 9 overall for me...
Neo Sprint. Got it in the black Friday sale for like £12. It's a load of fun so far. Besides that, some pinball fx and ghost recon wildlands (yup, STILL my current fave game)
Well here we are with another awesome WAYP. Been a stupidly awesome week around here. The week was mostly games like Trails Through Daybreak, Emio, Tekken 8 and Metaphor. Most of the weekend was spent with Emio and Zelda and YS X. Emio continues to be amazing and I still have no guess on who the actual criminal is. Beat Zelda and honestly the ending made me really sad but the villain of this game may be my favorite Zelda Villain? It was really really fresh and cool. And YS X continues being the sleeper GOTY hit of the year it’s so riveting. Also on the Tekken front I’m two trophies away from the Platinum so I’m gonna try to shoot for that soon. That’s GOTY contender too. Also got Lego Horizon like mentioned before and honestly that game is pleasant fun it’s nothing insane but it’s really quite cute and fun. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Metaphor or Star Wars Outlaws I’m really undecided maybe even Visions of Mana can get a solid shot if it wants because on one hand I wanna beat Metaphor before TGA but the other two have been sitting around for months. Speaking of TGA those nominations eh? I’m rooting for Astro Bot, FFVII Rebirth and Metaphor Refantazio if any of them win I’m happy. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Emio, Dawntrail, Metaphor, Tekken 8 Plat, Star Wars Outlaws, Visions of Mana, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Mario and Luigi Brothership and maybe some YS X. Only two games I’m really interested in getting the rest of the year would be physical versions of Dragon Quest III HD-2D and Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Collection. The wrestling thing this week being AEW Full Gear. A seriously great PPV that was well worth what I caught of it. Excellent matches like the Women’s Match with Mercedes and Kris, the Swerve and Bobby match, the BOOMTASTIC Costco Guys Match and the Main Event of Jon Moxley VS Orange Cassidy having a absolute banger of a end to the whole PPV with runouts of another great match Hangman Adam Page and Switchblade Jay White. Simply outstanding. Anime of the week gotta go to Dandadan and Dragon Ball Daima and Shangri La Frontier and Yakuza Fiancé and Ron Kaminohashis Forbidden Deductions and Ranma 1/2. Yeah same as before absolutely all stellar picks. Yall really should go check out the choices for Best Adaptation like the Yakuza show and Tomb Raider and Fallout show they’re all really good comfort shows. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally awesome weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
@Ryne-Gaia
