Weekend time! There's plenty to enjoy on Xbox over the next couple of days, including four major Xbox Game Pass additions from earlier this week, another batch of Free Play Days titles, and lots of new Xbox Store deals.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I've got a long list of games that I'm hoping to find time for at the moment. Top of the pile is something that I can't really talk about yet, but it's pretty fun so far! It feels like we've been so busy reviewing new games over the past few weeks.
WWE 2K24 is calling to me as well - I've got a lot of progress to make in MyGM, MyRise and MyFaction still - and Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator might not be the best simulation game in the world, but I'm having a surprising amount of fun with it. I'll probably end up playing that one while listening to some kind of Spotify podcast on Sunday night...
Have a good weekend, folks!

I am well and truly addicted to Unicorn Overlord. I’m gonna be real, if I weren’t capturing video for upcoming reviews, my AM-PM would be solid ‘Unicorning’. That’s what that means, right? Playing Unicorn Overlord for the entire weekend? At least I think so.
Also, I decided plopping a full hour of uncut MLB The Show 24 gameplay on YouTube was a good idea this week. Not sure it was the best use of my time, but I thoroughly enjoyed slinging a homer or two. If I can pry my attention away from my main slice, maybe I’ll give it a whirl.
Oh, and Balatro. I’m always playing Balatro - how many times have you won? I’ve got three wins so far. I’d like to unlock the challenge mode (winning with 5 different decks) so please wish me luck!
Happy gaming, folks!

Truth be told, I’ve not been playing much of anything recently, on any console. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and watching a few movies, and it’s been a nice change of pace. That said, I’ve got a hankering to replay Resident Evil 5 this weekend, if only because the absurd online drama surrounding the game this past week has made me want to dive back in and give a few boulders the ol’ one-two.
Have a good one!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

I'm working all weekend but lately have been hooked on SMITE and Two Point Hospital.
I've just finished NEO: TWEWY yesterday, so I'm not sure. Maybe a few runs of Army of Ruin.
This weekend I'm continuing my playthrough of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin(on Switch) aswell as continuing to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution(on Xbox).
More Rebirth for me I'm up to chapter 9 now and it's been amazing so far it's one of those games i don't want to end. I also started Prototype last night seems OK bought both of them for £4 so not expecting much tbh. On Xbox I'm going to start playing through all the Gears games again.
Trying to get through Pilgrims Perch in Lords of the Fallen. Getting irritated with being attacked from behind or falling off walkways due to the camera glitching ‘into’ walls.
On Series X I tried the Unicorn Overlord demo for a bit, but I can’t say I liked the combat system, although I can see how it would provide tactical depth. Instead I got the Separate Ways dlc for Resident Evil IV, which I’ve just started. I might also give Inkulinati a go.
I haven’t played much since last weekend. My work schedule has been hectic, and my wife and I took a mini vacation during the weekday(s). She surprised me with NBA tickets to my favorite team, so we spent several days out of town relaxing. But it’s healthy to take a break from gaming once in a while.
If I do find time this weekend, I’ll be spending it playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I am currently in the infamous Gold Saucer area and it has been a magical experience so far. My feelings on the game have only grown deeper — this is an amazing reimagining of an all-time classic. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds.
Dead island 2 and no more heroes 3 on xbox.
Sackboy on ps5.
Astral chain on switch
I started Hellblade during the week. I've only put a couple of hours in so far but plan to dig into a bit more this weekend.
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
Probably Halo if anything. Next weekend I hope to be playing Lightyear Frontier.
Just bought the sega mega drive collection so will be playing some streets of rage golden axe I'll also be finishing off quantum break some 4 years after I started the game then I'm onto control see how everything relates to Alan wake after finally completing it this week
Hopefully get some time to play No More Heroes 3 and that's about it. Enjoy the weekend everyone and happy gaming
Final Fantasy Rebirth… and that is all. In Chapter 8 now, just bobbing along and loving my time with it.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - That is one big underground lake...
Jet Car Stunts (Windows Phone) - I should finish this tomorrow.
Lode Runner Classic (Windows Phone) - Finally got back to this after a lengthy break.
Still going strong on Final Fantasy XIV beta, currently early on the Heavensward and finally got to a dungeon we as a group could not complete (the first extreme difficulty). I believe I have around 75h since the beta started lol.
It should be the only thing I will be playing until Dragon's Dogma 2 but tented to buy Bolatro not gonna lie...
Finished Boltgun. Fun boomer shooter. Guns feel great. But finding the exit is a pain and the last chapter could’ve been cut.
Quite a bit actually.
Switch- FF6. I so desperately want to finish this one. It's become a slog in the second half unfortunately. As it stands, I like IV much better, but 9 still takes the cake for me personally. I couldn't get past Magic Master the other night after trying different builds for an hour and a half. I had no idea you needed reraise to overcome him. With that said, I had to turn on auto battle to drain his MP which took literally 45 minutes. Oh well, just trying to get through this and be done with it.
Xbox- Halo CE. Not much to say about this one. It's great, fun. Haven't played this game since it came out with some friends back in the early 00s.
WiiU- Paper Mario Color Splash. Just ok, nothing great except for the visuals and and the writing. The game looks stunning even on the ol WiiU. Just don't like that it's level based, and the battle system is very boring and tedious.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for me, its so damn good. On chapter 7 and taking my time, they made a special game for sure!
I'm playing Red Dead Redemption Game Of The Year Edition. Game looks really good runnning on Series X backward compatible..
@Rangers420 I actually really liked the prototype games. Beat them both when they came out, not sure how well they've aged but was always hoping for a prototype 3
Started Control Ultimate Edition, never played it before so sounds like a good place to start
Carrying on with Recore and Phoenix Wright Ce attorney trilogy. Solid stuff all of it
Just finished Paw Patrol World for the achievements… what a boring slog that was … Brotato is still so much fun and just starting Maneater
World of Warcraft Classic WotLK (PC) Still enjoying my travels through Azeroth.
Hearthstone (Mobile) I jumped back in to play a few hands for a mount in WoW and this game has me hooked particularly the Mercenaries mode.
Chrono Trigger (Super NT) Looking to wrap this one up. Such an iconic game and one of the best on the SNES
I've always walked my own path as a gamer, and as such, my perspective on various titles through the decades since the 1970s have differed considerably from popular opinion. That's fine with me. To each their own and all that. As for me, I've decided this weekend to start a new run through one of my most beloved games of all time, Mass Effect: Andromeda. Let the rest of the world scoff and go as they please as they pass by. The Pathfinder and me are doing just fine in here. Peace!
Finally firing up Hogwarts Legacy. Know very little about it.
Playing WRC 9, Gran Turismo 7 and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on the PS5. Maybe some Balatro on the Steam Deck too. WRC 9 is quite challenging, I'll get the hang of it eventually.
I'm playing through Blades of Time on Xbox 360 and Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC. Playthrough videos uploaded daily at: www.youtube.com/zydio1103
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (PS5) - am nearing the end of the Suthexe arc. Because I'm cleaning up every marker on the map as I go, I'm ridiculously over-levelled for the area.
Gears of War: Definitive Edition (XSX) - have never played a Gears game before and am enjoying this immensely.
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration (Switch) - completed the timeline yesterday. Really good historical retrospective but I'm not sure I'll return to many of the games. Will now move back to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 which I parked in Chapter 6.
Balatro (Steam) - playing a fair bit of this time suck.
I picked up Immortals of Aveum on sale for $8 and I'm loving it. I'm a few hours in (maybe 25% through it? I don't know) and it reminds me of OG Xbox and 360 games. Weird, fun, and above all, different than most of what's out there right now.
@Link41x just finished Golden Abyss last week. I was surprised by how close it is to the console games. I definitely liked it better than the original Uncharted, but not as much as 2-4.
Played some Horizon: Zero Dawn, Starfield, and going to start Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Resident Evil 4 Seperate Ways DLC. Idk how I didn’t realize it had released until a couple weeks ago!
Just finished Midnight Suns story this week, sarted playing expédition mudrunner and its good but more Arcady than snowrunner.
Star Wars Battlefront classic collection. Having lots of fun going through the campaigns again and 64 multiplayer is so crazy. I love it.
I downloaded SpongeBob for my son. He asked me if I’d try it, I responded with, “The next hundred hours of my gaming life will be consumed by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, so sorry, but not a chance.” That’s a longwinded way of saying I’m playing Rebirth.
Mostly handheld this weekend. Paper Mario on Switch, and Sly Cooper on Vita. Happy gaming.
Oh boi oh boy it’s time for another incredible and amazing WAYP. Busy busy week of games as this week I not only beat all of FFXIV: Endwalker as far as MSQ is concerned meaning I’m all caught up for Dawntrail but also I beat Trails of Cold Steel IV YIPPEE. And not only that but because of super lucky set of game trades at GameStop I was able to purchase Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown, PGA Tour 23 Deluxe Edition, Helldivers 2 and I scored a preorder on Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. Granted these were all on PS5 so I may need to make more time for that then switch but hey I got Princess Peach Showtime coming this week. And Hi-Fi Rush. And Dragon’s Dogma 2…… hahahahahaha. That’s not even beginning to mention the absolute mother-load of amiibos I got like Rosalina, Steve and Alex and Donkey Kong to name a few. I think another Amiibo photo shoot is in order. For the rest of the weekend I have some lovely plans so I don’t think I’ll get any gaming in outside of maybe a game of Mario Party Superstars or Nintendo Switch Sports. But going forward plans are mostly the games I’ve already listed plus getting into Trails Into Reverie, Another Code: Recollection, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Penny’s Big Breakaway, Unicorn Overlord and Splatoon 3 Side Order on Switch. Like I said it’s really PS5 where I got games on games to work through. Still got stuff like Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth and Persona 3 Reload and Granblue Fantasy Relink and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.. Oh and I wanna work on that Eiyuden Chronicle Rising prequel thing. Got it a couple years back and never played it. As for anime of the week gotta keep it simple and just to the ones I watched before knocking out super early due to my new work position tiring me out ahahah. And those would just be Frieren and Delusional Monthly Magazine. Frieren is a all time great. As for Podcasts it’s the usuals. Castle Superbeast and Big Think Dimension, RPGsites Tetracast and Into the Aether, Windbreaker and Firelink, Summon Sign and the Superb Remap Radio. As always a lovely shoutout to my good friend at twitch.tv/akibread and their excellent soothing streams. Make sure to be good to one other another and stay safe y’all. Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️. Have a good rest of your weekend. And Happy Gaming.
Craig, same here, I've been hooked on Balatro too, trying to unlock all the Joker cards
That’s funny I was actually thinking of booting of re5 as well bc of the “controversy”
@DoctorSushi My all-time favourite Vita game!
Having finally finished Rogue Trader, and waiting for Dragons Dogma 2 so I dont want to start something too long, so I beat Boltgun and now I'm playing through Like a Dragon The Man Who Erased His Name.
I still playng Baldur Gate 3
now will fight witch Balthazar
gonna be rox
@OcelotRevolver It's addictive isn't it?! I've won three times but struggle with the other decks I have. Really wanna get that challenge mode. Also, kinda digging the Joker card visuals. I'd love physical versions of a few of them hah
