Details on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster are now out in the wild following a brief 'Capcom Next' livestream yesterday, with the newly-enhanced 360 title delivering 4K, 60FPS zombie slaying to Xbox fans this September. Now, while we're excited about that and will absolutely be replaying the first Dead Rising on Xbox Series X|S, our minds can't help but wander towards a proper 'Dead Rising 5' in the future. Is Capcom working on such a thing?
Well, for now we obviously don't know the answer to that question, but this Dead Rising remaster announcement has seemingly come out of nowhere this month - and we're hopeful that it means a brand-new Dead Rising game is also on the way. Capcom has been cooking lately, and a full-blown current-gen sequel could be absolutely cracking.
While Dead Rising 4 was a bit of a damp squid for most people, we still enjoyed it for what it was. The Christmas theme made it feel like a bit more of a slapstick romp compared to the more serious tone of Dead Rising 3, and we hope that Capcom can merge the two styles for a potential sequel. All of that now running on its impressive RE engine on Xbox Series X|S? Count us in!
There seems to be quite a bit of excitement around Dead Rising Deluxe here at PX — and across the web in fact — but are you also hopeful for a proper sequel to come? Do you think Dead Rising 5 is in the works, or will this remaster be it for the time being?
Do You Think Dead Rising 5 Is On The Way? (104 votes)
- Yep, why else would there be a 2nd Dead Rising remaster?
- I'm not sure, Capcom could just be testing the waters here
- Nah, I think it's just this remaster

3 wasn't even really Dead Rising, and there are videos showing the team didn't really stick to the originals with regards to story or characters, they changed too much.
I'm more interested in and hopeful for Just Cause 5 hopefully being a magnificent return to form.
I do hope a DR5 does happen that is more similar to DR1 and 2. For now I just hope this remaster turns out well.
I’m sure they’re doing another one and they’re using the remaster because Capcom likes to do the remake/new game cycle. Why not print money, you know?
I love all the dead rising games just great fun gaming not to much thinking or strategy to them just zombie killing fun I'd love the series to come back with a proper sequel but the super remaster or whatever they are calling it looks great
I guess Capcom know the investment in the dead rising remaster and will see if they make or break money wise on that.
Then judge to see if financially an investment in a new dead rising game would have a good return on investment.
Such a business reply I know, but that’s what it’s all about more than ever nowadays 🤣
A return to the style of the first 2 Dead Rising's but with modern tech. Focusing on fun. The last 2 weren't great especially #4 it was just mindless. Though I didn't like the timed aspects at first.
I’ve been hopeful for a Dead Rising 5 for some time now. Super excited for the remaster. In terms of 5, I hope they bring it back similar to the first 3 games. I had a blast with those. With the role Capcom has been on lately, they can end up with a really amazing game with DR5.
no! work on a bino crisis remake!
This franchise is pretty far down my list of favorite zombie franchises. I would check out a dr5 but wouldn't be crushed if it never comes.
Dead Rising was one of THE reasons to own a 360 back in the day. 2 was the peak but definitely want to see the series revived. Bring it on!
I want DR5 but I also wanted a DR4 and I pretty much hated everything about that game. The Controls, lacklustre co-op, tone and so on.
Don't get me wrong the new remaster is a good sign. Improved controls but not DR4's dumbness, they didn't mess with the time limits (I do agree 1's was very harsh).
It’s not a Capcom franchise I care about. They have a lot of other IPs I’d rather see revived.
@jesse_dylan
Same here,
Would like to see Dino Crisis remakes
