Earlier today, we caught wind of the fact that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be MachineGames' longest experience yet, and that's got us thinking about the Bethesda developer - and what they've accomplished so far on Xbox.
Up to this point, the Swedish studio has been solely in charge of the Wolfenstein series for Bethesda, and as we quickly approach the team's Indiana Jones' release - we want to know if you have a favourite from this list of fantastic Xbox shooters.
Here at Pure Xbox HQ, we're big fans of the team's modern reimagining of Wolfenstein; we particularly like 2014's The New Order, and its 2015 spin-off The Old Blood. These two titles felt like MachineGames announcing itself onto the scene - and we really should go back and replay them one day!
Anyway, as we get very, very close to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launching on Xbox (early access arrives next week), we want to know your favourite MachineGames title so far.
Which MachineGames Xbox Title Is Your Favourite? (409 votes)
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
- Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
- Wolfenstein: Youngblood (Co-Developed With Arkane)

That face you make when you realize MachineGames has a 100% track record of being able to murder knotsies in each and every one of their games
The two main Wolfenstein games were great and even the Standalone DLC (the Old Blood) was good too - however Youngblood was a big disappointment for me.
I'd easily recommend playing these in order and stopping after W2. I could easily have voted for the first Wolfenstein on this list but I do think 2 has the edge. The Standalone DLC is also worth playing but its clearly two DLC packs merged together to create a standalone game.
I think New Order is a fantastic game. I played it on release and it really brought me back to FPS games of the past in the very best sense.
Never played anything by this dev but I am assuming this game will be good (for those that want it. IJ is not my cup of tea. Never liked the movies.) as MS won’t want to waste the license cost.
Old blood was the only game I have played from this developer but it wasn’t meant to be that game my older brother got the new order on Christmas Eve second hand I remember looking at y the disc on Christmas Day only to see they put new blood instead of new order in the case a memory I won’t ever forget I might try the games on game pass before Indy comes out which is the reason I got an Xbox
I personally like Old Blood immensely. The New Order is fantastic, and The New Colossus is also great, although I think there are way too many “quiet” moments. The pacing is a little off, but it was an unforgettable experience. Chapter 9 (maybe 10?) was particularly gut wrenching.
Definitely The New Colossus but if we also count old Starbreeze(key staff from there formed MachineGames), I have to say The Darkness from 2007.
Didn't play anything by the devs before but hopefully for the Indiana Jones to be good I loved the older movies not the last two
I didn't even know about these guys. 😅
@Balaam_ full games yes. Unfortunately, not if you include expansions
Definitely Wolfy TNO, and it surely won't be toppled by a stupid licensed game.
I'm so sick of seeing some of the very best teams in the industry forced onto safe, licensed products instead of being able to create their own thing.
Who knows how long we'll have to wait for Wolfenstein III or a new IP because of freaking Indiana Jones, which I personally never found the appeal of.
The nail in the coffin was the announcement of a 3rd person Blade game by Arkane. That's just throwing darts at a wall for sure.
Sorry, rant over.
Old Blood. Others have way too much story and cutscenes for my taste.
I really couldn’t get into the one I tried. Not even sure which it was. Seem kinda samey. But I think I’ll like Indy, unless it’s more wave after wave of shooting like the wolfenstein I tried seemed to be.
The co-developed Youngblood is the only Xbox title by Machine Games that I disliked and didn't finish. I consider The New Colossus the best.
I really enjoyed the first game and the add on albeit that I could see their limitations and felt they were 7.5/10 games.
I was disappointed in number 2 which felt way more generic and with some uncomfortable difficulty spikes. It felt the series lost some of its character.
Young blood is just rubbish.
I hope Indy changes that trajectory.
TNO by a pretty wide margin. Fantastic shooter.
I have enjoyed all their games outside of Youngblood(never played because I heard of the issues). So I will be giving their Indiana game a chance. They also seem to be respecting the player with this one.
It wasn't so much that Youngblood was a bad game, more that the two leads were SO annoying! They were like Beavis and Butthead from the 1990s. The scenes with them in the lifts were just excruciating, and there were a lot of them...
I went with New Order as I think that was the best of the lot, but there isn't really a lot in it, all (other than Youngblood) are high recommendations as far as I am concerned...
