As Xbox is being rather coy on Game Pass announcements this month so far, we've found ourselves looking ahead at the January slate as it is right now. While the first half of the month is rather barren (although random drops do keep appearing), the back half of January is already looking pretty fantastic.
We've got the likes of Monster Hunter Rise, Persona 4 Golden, and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition arriving in January - and a bunch more besides!
So, from this selection, which are you most excited about? We'll almost certainly hear more about extra January additions in the week ahead, but for now, are you looking forward to any of these upcoming titles in particular?
For us, it's got to be Monster Hunter Rise. Monster Hunter: World marked the first mainline title to come to Xbox platforms back in 2018, and to be honest, we've not looked back since!

Not much for me so far this month. Age of empires is a game I still play on PC from time to time and I am curious about the console version. I guess that is the only one I am interested in.
Maybe it will give me a chance to try a couple of the obscure games from GP or GwG.
P4G, although not sure I want to jump into another 200 hour long quest so soon after finishing P5R. Got the whole 1k GS on that game, and feel I might be tempted to try the same on P4G.
Nothing for me this month, already have P4G on the vita and P3P I'm getting on the switch for portability, I've already played monster hunter rise but may be tempted to start again since it will look much better this time round.
Persona 4 Golden. I started it years ago on my PS Vita and never finished it. I always regretted that.
Persona 4 for me. P5r was the first persona game I played and I loved it. So looking forward to playing p4g. Monster hunter I'll probably try out for a bit. P3 I'll move to later in the year.
Atomic Heart is my next Gamepass game. I can skip pretending I’ll play a Persona game this year.
@Tharsman P4G is long as a game, but relativly short compared to P5R. When I completed my run it was about 60 hrs.
Roboquest has my interest.
Defo age of empires....tried the last monster hunter and didn't like it

Monster Hunter for me by a large margin.
Picked up MH Icebourne over Christmas break and have played it tons. I find it in equal measure both very satisfying and frustrating but I keep coming back for more. Looking forward to seeing the gameplay changes in Rise.
So I've just realised you can't play Xbox 360 games on Xbox one if you aren't online their backwards compatibility just went down the 🚽 with me
None of them. I don't like Bloated Games. Most of them take like 50 plus hours to beat. I don't have that kind of time to dedicate to one game. My gaming time Is very limited so I'd much rather play many different shorter games.
Also game pass for me is lacking very much at the moment. I've pretty much played the majority of games I wanted to play which since 2020 (when I joined game pass) has been over 105 or so games. I'm looking forward to the upcoming games like Atomic Heart, Last Case of Benedict Fox, Starfield etc.
Half an hour to update the console then another 5 minutes to update the controller just to play a game I purchased 😡
@Chaudy you do know starfield will be a 100 hour game as well. If you've completed all the shorter games you want to on gamepass then I see no problem with playing a longer game for now. There's some great games you've missed out on, you could do what I do and take breaks, if there's a game that takes 60 hours then just take a break after every 20 hours and play a shorter game in between each break.
@UltimateOtaku91 I doubt main quest Is 100 hours. Although you make a good suggestion about taking breaks in between for shorter games. I will try this approach 👍
Rise at the top but also looking forward to Persona 4 and seeing how Age of Empires works on console. Awesome stuff coming!
Monster hunter rise for me, for persona portable games, I prefer playing it on my steam deck.
I’m going to keep saying Goldeneye until it finally happens.

@EvenStephen7 - agreed, and the current general lack of communication on GP is very odd.
Hopefully we’ll get some sort of clarity this week on new GP games but the Twitter ‘coming soon, soon’ nonsense is bordering on being childish. Do MS even have any concept of what is ‘soon’? - it’s months since they told us Goldeneye was coming to Gamepass ‘soon’.
Part of the fun of gaming (and Gamepass) is looking forward to what’s coming next. Why they are currently removing that anticipation is beyond me.

I played the hell out of the core game on Switch, looking forward to playing the new content (and replaying the old content) with my XB friends
Monster Hunter Rise, easily. But I've played so much of it on Switch I'm not sure how soon I'll get around to it on Series X, especially with Dead Space remake launching this month and Wanted: Dead in February.
