Well, there goes another month! May 2024 is officially in the books, and from an Xbox Game Pass perspective, we were treated to some excellent titles over the past few weeks including Ninja Theory's Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2!
That was obviously the biggest XGP addition of the month, but don't forget we saw the likes of Immortals of Aveum, Lords Of The Fallen, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and many other great titles arriving on Game Pass as well.
In the indie space, some of the highlights included Little Kitty, Big City, Chants of Sennaar and Hauntii, and the vast majority of May's Game Pass additions ended up being brand-new releases - always a great thing to see!

Solid month, plenty to play. If you like puzzlers don't sleep on Chants of Senaar.
Haven't played any of those yet, but part of the reason is because I'm still trying to catch up with prior great additions.
HellBlade 2 of course!
👍😁👍
Not an amazing month I'm mostly still playing jedi survivor it's an amazing game!
I'm loving Humanity at the moment.
I gave this month a B but really only downgraded as nothing grabbed me and made me play it. However very high B and I am sure there are hidden gems in there that will only make me wish I gave May an A months from now….
Lords of the Fallen for me. Hellblade isnt my kind of game, feels like it would be at home on Playstation. I said the same thing last gen when Tomb Raider was temporarily an Xbox exclusive.
Great month for me in terms of stuff I want to play, but trying to finish some others, so the one I have tried for more than a few minutes is Little Kitty 😺 I need to stop messing with Wartales amd Tsushima and get into some of these
Removed - disrespecting others
@Lup Same with me. Last month, I completed Hellblade 1, Chicory, Norco, and Eiyuden Chronicle Rising on Gamepass!
You know, I think Humanity is probably the best game of this bunch, but I voted for Hauntii since it’s fresh and honestly a really cool experience from what I’ve seen of it so far. My son’s started playing it and he really likes it so far. I love the artwork in it. Feels like a game not enough people are talking about.
A shame NLife’s review pretty much decimated its aggregate review score since I know people avoid games if they don’t hit a certain overall score. As a piece of art, it deserves a bit of love since it was clearly made with it.
Sort of surprised at the positive response to Hellblade on here. I thought it was just sort of ok, even with the strong visuals and audio presentation. Releasing so close to Indika too, sort of feel like Indika totally outclassed it in the artsy walking sim/light puzzle genre they both cohabitat.
So far I’ve put the most time into Galacticare but I can foresee Lords of the Fallen being my overall favourite. Really good month even if the headliner wasn’t for me.
Definitely heckblade 2 for me. It was a strong month.
Jedi Survivor...
I just started it about two weeks ago.
Finished (100%) today... minus the two Agility Force Tears
Hellblade 2 is amazing. Definitely lean towards the 9s and 10s it got and not the 6s and 7s. May not be for everyone hence the wide range of scores (81 average is still good IMO) but for me it was a masterpiece as some reviewers like Eurogamer thought. World just draws you in and you become part of it. Such an all encompassing experience and well worth the ride (to me).
already played the tomb raiders to death so nothing for me. i been replaying halos, borderlands, and generation zero in coop with a friend. nothing new for me till stalker 2 i guess.
laugh and cries
@DoubleDog So…because someone isn’t impressed with the games, they’re automatically somehow a PS troll?
That’s kind of a sad viewpoint. PS fans complain every month about PS Plus, and I sincerely doubt it’s “X-Bots hurr” who are doing said complaining.
Xbox fans are allowed to (and DO) complain/and be dissatisfied as well.
@somnambulance Humanity is fantastic! Looking forward to 100%-ing this one. Something I rarely do with games.
@dskatter The constant PS fans conspiracies are a little exhausting
.....
I mean c'mon🙄
@dskatter The majority of Playstation owners almost always vote the PS monthy games 'a crap selection', this is because they compare it to Ultimate Gamepass and compared to Ultimate Gamepass it is a 'crap selection'.
@Spider-Kev I would of picked jedi survivor aswell
@Sifi Wouldn’t know, I don’t use anything beyond PS Essential on my PS5, as my game backlog is freaking GIGANTIC and have enough trouble playing the games I own, much less the catalogs on there or (for the most part) on Gamepass for my Series X.
@CallMeDuraSouka “My god, someone isn’t satisfied with gamepass additions! They must be a Sony fanboy!”
Or or OR they just…don’t like the games? Nah, couldn’t be, must be fanboys. XD
None for me. Some of the Indies look cool never heard of them in other articles or elsewhere so had to look them up.
If I had to vote (but I won't) based on playing none and just looking up the games I didn't know and those I already have a general idea about of bigger titles I'd say probably C or D. I'd say it's a fair month.
From this list I've only played TR on 360 not the Def Edition.
Aveum come across from others on PS5. Lord of the Fallen is probably fine for the type of game it is. Moving Out 2 I see the appeal even if not my thing. Little Kitty Big City just disappoints me. I get why it's just sigh.
Like Galacticare surprised me just from looking it up, and Chants of Sennaar. Humanity is cool for what it is compared to other puzzle games I've played and enjoy obstacle course/puzzle room type ones (mostly those I discovered on PSP).
I know someone that played Hellblade 2 and didn't like it compared to the first besides the visuals were improved but the rest felt it was a step down and I could see why.
Seems like a good month though. I don't use Gamepass I have too much a backlog of Xbox One/360 games let alone other platforms I don't have time for nor do I care for subscription services anyway.
I played Psychonauts 2 on Gamepass but that was it, only up to the camp level intro, I got stuck, got busy with other games, still a fun time, nothing else catches my eye or I'm too busy with other games on all platforms retro and modern to deal with limited time experiences.
Lots of good titles there - shows how strong the GP line up is.
My fave of the bunch would be humanity. Inventive, interesting and well crafted, but you are spoilt for choice on GP.
Very strong lineup. Many and very good games this month.
Hellblade 2 is a masterpiece. A not for everybody masterpiece but one nonetheless. So grade A for me no doubt. If we had one hellblade 2 every month plus some solid indies and older AAA that would be awesome.
Hellblade 2 is unbelievably amazing....but you have to go into it understanding that is purely a cinematic storytelling game. It is game that I play like an hour a night because its just so much to take in. It certainly is not for everybody, but for an older gamer like me, it's perfect.
Finished Hellblade 2 yesterday. I know it's not everone's cup of tea but I freaking loved it. Every second.
Hellblade 2 was the best Xbox exclusive yet!!! I give it a 6/10 overall.
Great month, but I’m still playing Eiyuden from April, and before that I was still playing P3 from February.
