I would not be surprised if ms did indeed go multi platform, but release Xbox hardware as a very niche, high end device. They could release their games on all platforms, yet have their high end Xbox (with an actual profitability margin) being the best way to play the game. I can’t help but think, such a device has been missing since the neogeo era. Or, it could be (as many have pointed out) a steam deck like device. I do think that ms is simply tired of losing money on hardware with the hope of making it up through sales. Sony and Nintendo have carved out their individual strategies, perhaps it’s time for Microsoft.
