Absolutely gutted. Thanks everybody for the kind words and most of all to Ken, who is one hell of an Editor and the best boss we could have ever wished for.
Hey guys! Deepest apologies to @korsaat84 and 34BigThings for posting the wrong trailer! There is a MUCH newer trailer, as shared in the link. Will speak to the powers that be and have it amended!
Okay... I have slept on it and I still have no idea what just happened to Resident Evil... confuzed face
I literally stopped watching the announcement cos I thought it was Until Dawn VR and I have no interest in VR. Watched the trailer/stuff back and I still can't get my head around it. First person? Set after RE6? Is the Buffield gonna be in it? Where is my Jill? collapses into heap on floor
I have much more experience reading reviews rather than writing them but agree with pretty much everything Ken wrote here. To me, a review is an opinion piece and I'll always take them as such. As for scores... Honestly, I'm more interested in what the writer has to say about the game than a number and it baffles me how people get so hung up over it. But that's the way the industry works sometimes.
My fiance has a similar opinion on reviews. Though he also likes reviews that give more technical and gameplay details, he's come to trust Ken and most of Team pX's reviews and opinions more than most sites out there... And neither of us have been paid to say that! 😁
@flameboy84 You're welcome. I have to admit, when I started it, I had no idea what was going on but it's actually a really simple, effective premise. I've become quite a fan of puzzle games and this one was pretty damn good.
Personally, I agree. Techland have been fair and open about this and I'd much rather give my pennies to a dev team whose passion for their game is so great, they have already given fans way more than most would. I'll be buying the Season Pass, as will my fiance. We totally support the awesome work being done with Dying Light.
They were, I agree. I've picked and chosen which DLC I've wanted with this game but I'm beginning to think the cost of the season pass would have been worth it. There's just simply so much content... I also need to tackle the challenge maps etc. Oh, and actually FINISH the game! lol
@Utena-mobile Oh I agree with you about Helena. I really liked her and always pick her to play over Leon. Personally, I'm a huge Redfield (Buffield, as I affectionately call them) fan - both of them. And Jill has a special place in my heart.
Personally, I enjoyed all the campaigns in RE6 though if I'm honest Chris' gameplay is not my forte as I tend to avoid shooters. But his stories always have a high emotional impact to them. As I said, for me Resi has long been about the characters, lore and story. Even after twenty years, I still get caught up in it all.
Respectfully, I disagree with a lot of the comments on here. I enjoyed RE6 as much as I have all of the Resi games and think it'll be awesome if it's ported to my Xbox One. To me, they're simply just fun and while the franchise did move away from its true horror roots, I continue to be invested in the stories and characters who've given me a lot of enjoyment over the past 20 years. I personally think the series gets a lot of unfair criticism and while I understand you can't please everyone, it always makes me sad to see such negativity about it... Just my two cents.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi Haha! I actually haven't had as much chance to get into it yet as I'd hoped but my mini-awesome is away this weekend, so I shall hopefully get more time to play. I doubt I'll even be close to done with it by the time I get handed Tomb Raider so it'll be a tough choice which I'm gonna want to play more!
As some others have said, I put Fallout ahead of Tomb Raider. It's been bought for me but I asked my fiance to not give it to me til my birthday in a few weeks... I have to admit I am now getting very excited for it! Love the new take on Lara.
@sinalefa I enjoyed it much more than I was expected to. For me, it's a bit of an untapped genre. I definitely recommend this title though, just for the sheer enjoyment I got from it.
I agree with all of the above.. I'm not a shooter fan and so, if I do buy one which in itself very rare, it's the campaign that I mostly play. I would have gotten this but really don't think that the multiplayer alone would be worth it for me personally, sadly.
I agree wholeheartedly with Ken about everything he wrote in this article. Also, so many wonderful comments here about pX and the staff - Thank-you so much! But I have to say that it is a community that makes any site truly work and of all the communities I have ever been a part of, the pX community are a fantastic bunch - so Thank-you again!
Personally, I do not get involved with any console wars or fanboy-ish debates. I grew up with PlayStations but have never begrudged anybody for their console choice. To me, it's simple. You buy what is best for you, what offers you the best selection for your playstyle etc.. And in both this and last generation, I've had both a PlayStation and an Xbox, as they each offer something different and I like to have all of the options available to me.
Fanboys and elitism begone! Life's far too short and there are far too many awesome games to get caught up in all of that nonsense. Happy gaming everybody!
@Captain_Chao5 I agree. The story packs have been woefully short. But they were developed by Warner and not Rocksteady and cost only £1.50 so I've not been TOO disappointed.. They literally tend to consist on one or two combat sections, one predator section and a boss fight. The Batgirl one has been the most expansive so far but not by much, sadly.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi It definitely has a singleplayer campaign. How extensive that is remains to be seen. I'm not a big multiplayer fan myself so will definitely be checking out the beta for solo game options.
@Utena-mobile I was there. And it has been. Not ashamed to say that trailer gave me goosebumps and a lump in my throat... It's been an awesome journey. Can't wait to get my hands on Phantom Pain.
I still have all the GTA games on original Xbox. I kept them mostly for nostalgia because my brother and I grew up playing them. Would be awesome to be able to replay them all on one console.
I admit, I agree with all of you. It's really sad that, if they do definitely part ways, that Konami are likely to hold onto Metal Gear with an iron grip and MG without Kojima will simply not be the same... I wish him the best in whatever path he chooses though. I wouldn't be surprised if he simply stayed independent. It's not like he hasn't got a the power to make it on his own.
@sinalefa Sadly not. It's something that a fair amount of people have been asking the devs for so hopefully there will be support for it in the future.
First game I've written about with a 2017 release date... lol
A two-year development cycle seems about right as the game is still so early in production there isn't even a teaser trailer yet. The premise sounds incredible but I'm always dubious when games are announced so early. Anything could go wrong or change between now and 2017... That's one thing I love about Bethesda with Fallout. Sure it's been in production for years but they don't announce it until it's very close to being done.
Funny you should bring Dante up as he was immediately who I thought of when I saw a lot of the comments lately and the similarity between the two is partly what prompted this article. The hate that he got when DmC was announced was unreal. But the game did great and was really fun to play... At the end of the day, isn't that enough? Seems to me like it really should be.
Here, here. Considering how huge the games have always been, such a low level cap always surprised me in Fallout 3 and New Vegas...
It'll be interesting to see how they handle skills and perks with no level cap though. Will we be able to have ALL the things or will they limit it somehow. Personally, I have been long hoping that they do something similar to how it was in Skyrim - level up skills based on their use.
As a former PS4-only player, I was very disappointed about the exclusivity deal as I didn't want to have to get it on 360. Now, this is on my must-have list.
I've never played any of them and am really not sure that I would enjoy card games like that. But I have downloaded it as they claim it's a good place to start and... y'know... completely free.
Keeping an eye on their Facebook page, it looks like it's defnintely in the works. The guy from R&D, who I believe is Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer from the first REmake, has been posting all day about it. He's been showing his boss the stuff he had put together for it in concept... All systems go, I'd say.
I can't for the life of me believe that they honestly are only just now aware of how much fans want this. I suspect that it is already in development and they are either testing the waters to see that they are doing it right or building hype for the inevitable announcement.
The feedback seems unanimous though. Make it in the same style REmake was done, with a little bit of extra content and more modern controls and it's sold.
