yeah, as long as the kinect truly offers a way to augment (rather than replace) the normal controls in a hybrid game or offers good full-body control in a kinect-only game, everything is good. not like the mess on the Move where every title has Move controls tacked on and tacked on badly.
an XBLA release would be cool for us because it means it'd be cheaper. but I don't know if it's good for them. Let's say there's 9 million Kinects out there. So you now only have an audience of 9 million that can consider buying the game. Then you think about the number of 360s that are connected to Xbox Live and that shrinks the audience further. But even if they have their 360 connected to the Internet, there's still a lot of people that still think you have to have a Xbox Live Gold account to do anything online and don't know that Xbox Live Free can purchase things like games.
Majesco says that if have no Internet connection to your 360, then you can send the disc back to them and they'll replace it with a new disc that has the fixes already built-in.
"Majesco will send you a re-mastered disc that includes the Title Update already on it. A re-mastered Title Update disc is only available for current owners of Zumba Fitness for Kinect.
Note: re-mastered discs will be available by the end of December. Check back here for an update on exact availability date."
can you update the review to reflect the update that company sent out for the game? i read that people said it fixed the tutorial section and other things too.
the piece said that they artificially restricted the bandwidth available to the Kinect because they need to guarantee that wired USB controllers could be used at the same time, even though most people use wireless controllers. I say, screw the gamers who use wired controllers. Besides, this could only come into play if it's a hybrid kinect game and you have multiple people using wired controllers at the same time as the Kinect. Kinect-only games don't use a controller so it seems strange to reserve bandwidth for the wired controllers.
Read the Anandtech review of the Kinect. The guy talked about how he was very confident that the internal IR sensor resolution was above 640x480. from the reviewer: "The projected image doesn’t change in time - it’s fixed this way. The IR CMOS sensor images this pattern projected onto the room and scene, and given the camera’s displacement a few inches from the projector, from the displacements in the semi-random projected pattern is able to back out the corresponding depth image. That computation is done onboard the Kinect itself, and it’s entirely possible (read: likely) that the IR sensor inside the Kinect is higher than the 640x480 resolution of the resulting image."
Thanks, James, for the reply. One thing I was curious about for the game. Can you fail a song? That was something I didn't like about DDR. Occasionally, there was a song I really liked but I couldn't play it because the difficulty was too high for me so I couldn't last more than a few seconds.
there's a big anime/DDR crowd that loves the kind of music and dancing in Dance Masters/Evolution. this music is straight out of the DDR series (the same creator did both games). and for the dancing, it's para para dancing. para para dancing is big among the japanese and otaku crowd. so if you don't agree with the style of dancing, you shouldn't knock it just because you're from a different culture. that's why dance evolution is outselling Dance Central in Japan. the Japanese don't want to dance like Americans.
