Thank you to EVERYONE at PureXbox for the wonderful articles and reviews, and the civil discussions about all things game related. I could always count on getting my dose of Xbox-related info here in a friendly, encouraging, and fun environment, with intelligent and (sometimes;) ) witty repartee from the authors and readers. God speed to everyone involved at PureXbox in their future projects!
@crippyd I'm only 1 mission into the BF4 campaign, and I'm enjoying it. I find it worth the price, for sure. I got it for the single player. I don't really play any multiplayer games online except for Titanfall (and I only play Frontier Defense).
I thought that this game was a great rental. I enjoyed the first one, and I enjoyed this one, as well. I played them for the story, which I enjoyed. I had the game freeze on me 2 or 3 times in the week that I had it, and 1 time I was stuck in the environment. Those were the biggest issues that I had with the game. My biggest complaint (which most people won't care about) is that the NPCs seem to know only one word - the F-bomb.
I didn't play the multiplayer, though, so I cannot comment on that. Personally, I give it a 6 out of 10.
I'm REALLY looking forward to this, and also really hope that it touches on all of the major combatant nations. I know I'm biased, but I'd like to be able to play as a French soldier, even if it's just a multi-player skin. I know here in America we focus about 99.9% on the US involvement, but there was over 3 years of war up to that point, and millions of casualties before we got involved.
Thanks, guys! As for NHL 17, I can't see spending $60 on the yearly iteration of a sports title. I've travelled that road in the past, so now I just pick up one of a sports releases and play it over-and-over until the next generation of systems. I have NHL 15 for XB1, and I enjoy it, but I don't like that I can't just play a season in it. I'll definitely try NHL 16 on the free days and see how it is.
I love these games. I just hope there's a lot less vehicle-reliance. Superchargers is fun, but the vehicles control horribly. I was hoping for Mario Kart-like controls, and always have trouble with the driving sequences. I love the different characters, though, and will definitely spend a lot of time making and tweaking my own Skylanders!
Definitely Battlefield 1 for me, especially since I'm a WW1 reenactor ! 90s Super GP looks interesting....but I don't recall such a focus on drifting in Daytona USA or the other arcade racers at the time. Maybe I'm mistaken?
Thank you for having this contest! The only games my wife likes to play are Myst, the Sims (on PC), and Mario Kart, and I've been TRYING to find a way to get her to try playing Xbox One. It's worth a shot!
@Utena-mobile Well, like a few others on here (we happy few!), I'm from a different generation of gaming. I grew up with my parents Pong machine, my brother's Coleco-vision, and I remember when I got my Atari 2600 (aka the "junior") from my dad as a present! Thank goodness we had ONE tv that it could hook up to, and it was COLOR!
And, Ninja Turtles (like the original Transformers) are timeless!
@Utena-mobile That was the "Next Mutation", the live-action series. I don't know if I'd call it "super old", though, as it's newer than the cartoon series. The creators of the Ninja Turtles don't like to talk about Venus.
The inlaw's family have a ski trip this weekend, so unless I can convince the wife that I need to bring the Xbox One along with us for "the family to watch Netflix" (and me to continue my 2nd Fallout 4 playthrough) , I won't be playing anything.
I loved AC 3 and had no issues what-so-ever with Unity. I actually had more bugs with Syndicate. I guess this will get the "haters" to rejoice, but I love the series and enjoy the new series with its vignettes going into differing time periods (WW2, Medieval, etc.). I just hope the series doesn't stray from its history-based roots of Assassins vs. Templars.
This game looks quite pretty; however, after running and leaping to the right until I starved to death multiple times, I think I've had enough of The Deer God for awhile.
@KelticDevil - That's one of the reasons that I've put down Destiny. I was the new guy, trying to do the little missions that pop up and advance in levels, and high level characters would fly in and kill everything; the exact same situation you experienced. I'm not a huge fan of always online games like that, but I've found Titanfall to be a lot more enjoyable experience, personally. It seems to be more geared for players like me than COD, especially.
@stylon You said it! Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to play without foul-mouthed 13 year olds screaming and whining whilst I try to play a game online.
I agree wholeheartedly! I get more excited about a Flash sale on my PS3 then I do for the free games on XB1. It makes me wish that my 360 was the online kind as it seems to get better game promotions from Gold.
I enjoyed this game. It takes some getting used to the controls, but I DID eventually figure out how to jump! It's fun to pick up and play to kill an hour or so before bed. I recommend it for people who like Diablo, Baldur's Gate, etc.
It's sad that people care that much about it to spend tons of money on eBay for this. As my dad says, "That, and a dollar, will get you a Coke". (Even if it's more like $2 now-a-days.)
I had no idea how much goes on just to get the word across! I agree that the Xbox One dashboard needs an overhaul. The recommeded 3 games taking up most of the screen always seems a waste, to me. Trying to locate and view the different games is so non-user-friendly. I actually prefer the buggy Playstation Store on my PS3, even IF it causes my system to crash.
TOTALLY bringing back the memories! My first name is "Shaun" and my nickname in middle school was "Mortal Shaunbat" (yes, my middle school yearbook has that written in it by numerous people). I was Subzero from MK1 for Halloween one year, and then Kung Lao from MK II after that game came today, and finally Kano from MK3 after its release. I had the same issue of Gamepro and memorized all the moves and fatalities, etc the same way.
MK3 was the game that turned me off of the series until MK9, and you should DEFINITELY play Shaolin Monks. I have that for Xbox and my friend and I STILL will play that one every so often. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

For $4.50 I can't pass up FINALLY getting Battlefield 4. It'll tide me over until Battlefield 1. Wait, that doesn't sound right...

I'm intrigued...even if that was one of the worst game trailers I've seen in a long time.

I'm tempted to pick up NHL '16, but there's no review on this site to guide me through my trepidation!

I'd pay a dollar for this Castlevania clone.

I would LOVE to have a BIOSHOCK collection, with all 3 of the games and all of their DLC for XBOX one.

Re: May's Games With Gold Gives Away CastleStorm and Mafia II
I've only had Live for a couple months, but I was not impressed and was a bit worried it would only be virtual billiards games...
Re: May's Games With Gold Gives Away CastleStorm and Mafia II
Is it just me, or are the offerings for PSN usually better? I'm new to the Xbox One and having to have LIVE to do most things.
