Super excited for this update! As someone who has embraced digital downloads, having more storage is a total must. Now to find a good sale here in Canada
Xbox Wire has a walkthrough video of the June updates and it's all looking really nice. A few extra tidbits though:
The external drive will need to be formatted before proper use on Xbox One. So far, the external support looks to be mainly for games. No mention of watching stored movies and TV shows.
Multiple drives can be plugged into the console at once.
You can set all future downloads to go directly to the external drive instead of main HD.
This is HUGE news on the business front, but still saddening to see Kinect becoming less of an importance. I know MS says Kinect is still very much an integral part of the X1 experience, but the truth is that consumers won't pick up Kinect if there aren't any games tailored for it.
I feared this would happen as the impending June release date got closer and closer with no confirmation. The deal is nice but I wonder how many gamers will be playing ESO both on PC and console...
I wouldn't want anyone else in this position. I wasn't too surprised by the announcement though. Phil has been more vocal than other Xbox execs since the launch of the Xbox One. Great choice!
Since we have no confirmed release date for Phantom Pain, I have no interest in playing this just yet. I'm sure there will be some sort of packaged deal with the two games anyway.
I've gone all digital on my Xbox One and have no regrets about it. I want to see more deals like this on a regular basis. I only hope Microsoft allows us to use external USB hard drives real soon in an update.
I'll definitely be picking up Tomb Raider and CoD this weekend.
@DRL I want to see some gameplay footage of Quantum Break and maybe even the next Halo, but also I want to see some new IP's too. E3 is gonna be really interesting this year.
@Gamer83 You're right about the PS plus discounts. But Microsoft usually has some fairly good discounts as well. I like to check out xbldb.com regularly to check out the current deals.
Right now, Soul Calibur V is less than $4, Scott Pilgrim The Game is $2.50. Hell, even CoD: Ghosts is $40 on both 360 and X1. I think Sony just does a better job on getting the word out there each week through their blog. MS should consider this option too.
I'm curious if the Xbox One version will now have the PlayStation exclusive content. PS3 and PS4 owners got more mission-content starring Aveline if I'm not mistaken.
The UI is definitely clunky at times, that I agree with. It's almost easier to navigate using voice commands over using the controller. At least Microsoft is listening to feedback, which only means that the UI will get better over time.
Very cool. This looks much better than I had ever expected. The fast app-switching seems to work really well and I absolutely love the idea of suspending games without exiting out of them.
Black Flag is definitely looking better and better every time I see it. AC3 left a pretty bad taste in my mouth but I'm hoping AC4 rekindles my interest in this series again. Great article! Thanks, Kathryn!

Haven't played Spartan Assault and probably never would have paid for it anyway. This is a nice bonus for just being a loyal Gold member.

Re: Ubisoft Confirms Valiant Hearts Release Date for Xbox 360, Xbox One
This looks fantastic. With games like this and Child of Light, Ubisoft is really coming into their own as an indie studio too.
Re: Review: Child of Light (Xbox One)
Fantastic review, Dave! I've been playing it as well (on 360) and it's every bit as deserving of the score.
Don't pass this one up, guys!
Re: April Xbox One Update Goes Live
Really digging all the improvements being made to the Xbox One through these updates. The Xbox team seems to have really turned a corner this year.
Re: Feature: XBLA Sequels We Want to See on Xbox One
@Generik Good to see someone on Team Anthony!
@DRL Get on it man! It holds up extremely well too. I wouldn't be surprised if its ever made free with Games with Gold.
Re: Review: Kinect Sports Rivals (Xbox One)
Awesome review, Ken! I'm very eager to try this out with some friends
Re: Feature: These Are The Xbox Games Coming In April
Not a bad month overall for the Xbox platforms. I am beyond excited for Child of Light, a shame I'll have to wait until the last day of April.
Re: Canadian Videogame Awards Finalists Announced
Interesting list of games for GoTY. My top pick would be ACIV followed by Splinter Cell

I wouldn't want anyone else in this position. I wasn't too surprised by the announcement though. Phil has been more vocal than other Xbox execs since the launch of the Xbox One. Great choice!

@DRL I want to see some gameplay footage of Quantum Break and maybe even the next Halo, but also I want to see some new IP's too.
E3 is gonna be really interesting this year.
Re: Assassin's Creed: Unity Headed to Xbox One This Autumn
A real shame that it was leaked. But this does have me intrigued, even if I'm getting a little burned out from this franchise now
Re: Microsoft announces 25 indie titles coming to Xbox One
Excellent news! I sense great things for ID@Xbox. Can't wait to play Guacamelee (again!) and Super Time Force
Re: Review: Earth Defense Force 2025 (Xbox 360)
Never played a Earth Defense game before. Is this a series worth checking out?

Re: You Wish You Had This Titanfall Custom Xbox One
Damn, that looks incredible! Why, why isn't this available at retail!?
Re: Guacamelee: STCE Coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360
This is awesome news. Guacamelee was one of my favorite games last year, so it's nice to see it on Xbox and especially WiiU.
Re: Review: Max: The Curse of Brotherhood (Xbox One)
There really isn't much platforming going on here, unfortunately. It is a fun, but uneven, puzzle game though. Give it a go!
Re: Expect Multiplayer and Party Chat Improvements in March Xbox One Update
The UI is definitely clunky at times, that I agree with. It's almost easier to navigate using voice commands over using the controller. At least Microsoft is listening to feedback, which only means that the UI will get better over time.
Re: ACIV Freedom Cry Launch Trailer Sails In
This looks really good. Will download this after I'm done with the main game
Re: Out This Week: November 12th (North America)
@SuperKMx Yeah bro, don't you read Push Square?! http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2013/10/head_backstage_with_contrast_the_ps4s_first_ps_plus_freebie
They're pretty decent
Re: Out This Week: November 12th (North America)
@SuperKMx It's free on PS Plus too, so even better!
Re: Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Xbox 360)
@Gamer83 Man, if Rocksteady did a TMNT game in the same structure as their Arkham games, I would pre-order that in a second
Re: Xbox One Dashboard Uncovered
Very cool. This looks much better than I had ever expected. The fast app-switching seems to work really well and I absolutely love the idea of suspending games without exiting out of them.
Re: Microsoft Sends Out Rewards to Loyal Gamers
Sadly, did not get my email but this is a pretty awesome move by Microsoft.
Re: PDP Adds Privacy Screen to Kinect Stand
This is hilarious. I'll keep my $20, thanks.
Re: Kinect Sports Rivals Preseason Will Be Available on Xbox One Launch Day
Still not sure about this game but offering a trial for free is a good move
Re: Assassin's Creed Liberation HD to Launch in January on XBLA
Totally skipped out on Liberation when it came out last year but with this HD remaster looking 10x better, I'm glad I waited.
Re: Xbox One TV Spot Revealed
Such a well done commercial. Makes the wait that much more difficult. Argh!
Re: Titanfall Release Date Announced
Same day as Dark Souls 2. Aww man!!
Re: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend - Issue Four
@JaredJ A GC game rerelease on Wii that is backwards compatible with WiiU....Whoa
O__o
Re: Five Reasons to Watch Out For Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Black Flag is definitely looking better and better every time I see it. AC3 left a pretty bad taste in my mouth but I'm hoping AC4 rekindles my interest in this series again.
Great article! Thanks, Kathryn!
Re: Out This Week: October 8th (North America)
Really leaning towards the Dishonored GotY. I'll admit that I've yet to give that game an honest chance. Good price too!
Re: Xbox One Will Record Video of Your Achievements
I really like the idea of recorded achievements, not so much for video reactions though.
I can see this feature being used for Achievement guides
