Re: Josef Fares' It Takes Two Abandons Its Trademark Due To Dispute With Take-Two

Akropolon

With regards to the previous comments: I can assure you Take Two doesn't believe people mix the two up and Take Two also doesn't want or need to own the "It Takes Two" trademark.

What Take Two is doing, is the same thing Bethesda did a few years ago with regards to the "Scrolls" game from Mojang: they are attacking/suing every single trademark that even slightly resembles their own. This way, if they ever do end up in an actual trademark lawsuit, they can demonstrate they've always "consistently and vehemently defended their intellectual properties, trademarks" and whatnot. That's all it is.

And the most depressing thing is that this works. Mojang abandoned the Scrolls title, Hazelight is now doing the same. There's no beating industry behemoths like these... :/

Re: Rare Addresses Potential Sea Of Thieves Crossover 'Concerns'

Well, that would seriously leave open the door for a Monkey Island crossover. Thematically and tonally a perfect match, with it - just like Pirates of the Caribbean - being a Disney property. So if this is a success, no new relationship would have to be built for that specific collaboration.

Re: EU To Decide On Microsoft's Acquisition Of ZeniMax Media By March

Akropolon

@Royalblues I honestly have no clue with regards to the specifics (not my field of expertise), but seeing how these companies have offices all over Europe, probably receive tax breaks, have employees throughout the continent, and together make up a sizeable part of the European video game sales, I'm guessing there's plenty of factors that add up to this situation.

They probably wouldn't need permission if they didn't have said offices over here, but even then I can imagine the EU being strict with regards to Microsoft selling hardware and also owning X percent of the gaming industry (look at stuff like the EU vs Microsoft with regards to Internet Explorer, for example).

Forza Horizon 4, which only really clicked for me thanks to the 4K60 setup of the Series X version. Downloaded Fortune Island and the Lego expansion this morning, having a blast so far. ^^

Then there's Borderlands 3 with a buddy of mine (bought a second hand copy for 9.99, which automatically downloads the Series X assets!) and some Tetris Effect in between. Can't seem to get past 80-85 of the needed 90 lines in the final level on Normal. :')

Re: Talking Point: Should The Xbox One Version Of Halo Infinite Be Scrapped?

Akropolon

@AJDarkstar This is actually the scenario I prefer. It's not as heart breaking for fans or as big a financial waste as outright cancelling the XB1 version, but it also means the Series X/S version has the required space to grow.

Just release both versions, and be honest about the XB1 version having a full campaign and multiplayer suite, but only receiving content updates for one year; after that, it's only stability patches and updates. That would work, if you ask me.

Re: Reminder: Final Fantasy IX Is Now Available On Xbox Game Pass

@Hobbesyall Oh, most definitely, I'm having a blast! Not gonna lie: the "boost" features really help. I enjoy RPG's mostly for their narrative, art direction, soundtrack, etc. Grinding for hours and having to endure random battle after random battle would seriously bum me out. Glad I'm able to enjoy the game in a way that doesn't frustrate me, which would undoubtedly lead to me quitting way too soon.

It's weird how FFIX has been on my to-play list for ages, but I've never gotten around to it. I'm now in the process of playing FFVII for the first time on my Switch, with the idea being I can then play the Remake afterwards, but will most definitely go for this one in between.

Also, graphically speaking, it's really interesting to see how much better Square's grasp on the PS1 hardware was at this point. The difference between VII and IX is pretty huge, if you ask me.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Xbox Console And Game?

Akropolon

Two gens ago, I started with the Gamecube, then added a PlayStation 2. Really, really wanted an Xbox too, but didn't materialize until years later. So my first Xbox console was actually the 360. I believe my first games were Burnout Revenge and Dead Rising. Traded it in at one point for a PS3, but thankfully rebought it pretty soon after. I distinctly remember playing Bioshock on my second 360, what an experience. <3

Re: Poll: Which Controller Do You Prefer? Xbox Series X Or PS5?

Akropolon

I do love the new additions to the PS5 controller (haptics, mic, triggers), but I am very much in favor of an offset joystick layout.

Adore the Xbox One controller, though I believe the Switch Pro controller is more comfortable. It's a shame that one doesn't have analog triggers and 3.5mm output: that would truly make it my most favourite controller ever.

Re: Microsoft Confirms "All Xbox One Games" Work On Xbox Series X

Akropolon

I can't understate how important backwards compatibility is. Games are culture and need to be preserved. Just like we have pretty much every major film release ever on DVD or Blu-ray, and pretty much every major literary work in print, we need games to be accessible to everyone at all times, whether it was released last year or in 1992. BC helps with legitimizing games as an art form, as opposed to toys, fads, etc. Love, love, love Microsoft's approach to the subject.
