Update (Fri 24th Apr, 2020 14:20 BST): This has now been officially confirmed by Bandai Namco as a goodwill gesture (isn't that nice!). The game is free to download from now until the 10th of May.

Original Story (Fri 24th Apr, 2020 06:00 BST): Here's a nice quarantine surprise – the Xbox One version of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is currently free to download from Microsoft's Japanese online storefront. We've taken a look ourselves and the offer appears to be available to users outside of this region as well – including locations like the UK and Australia.

If you haven't played this neon-soaked version of Pac-Man before, we highly recommend it. It was originally released on the Xbox One in 2016 and is the follow-up to Pac-Man Championship Edition, which arrived in 2007.

Below is a bit more about the sequel, courtesy of the Microsoft game page:

The much-awaited sequel to Pac-Man Championship Edition! Featuring eye-popping 3D graphics and funky visuals, the latest version of the classic game takes chomping and chasing through mazes to a whole new level! Make up to four ghost trains for maximum chompage! New modes include Score Attack and an Adventure Mode with fast fleeing fruit, big bad bosses, ridiculous remixed rules, and more!
