It's been another massive week in the world of Xbox, and after ongoing rumours, it's now been officially confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will be arriving on PlayStation 5 this spring.
If you are wondering what the plan might be for PS5 beyond this point, it seems Xbox's main mascot could be one of the next ones up with Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Windows Central's Jez Corden has responded to a comment about the "big three" Xbox IP potentially on the way to other platforms (that's Halo, Forza and Gears) - suggesting Halo could be "first" now that Horizon 5 has been confirmed... but we'll just have to wait and see.
Rumours about Forza Horizon 5 going multiplatform date back to last year. A Halo: MCC port for PlayStation and Nintendo has also been referenced on multiple occasions now - with leakers like eXtas1s and more recently Nate the Hate chiming in:
"Nate the Hate in early 2025: "Games that I have heard will be released multiplatform in 2025 beyond the obvious include Flight Simulator — will come to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 — and Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PS5 and Switch 2 as well."
Xbox's previous first-party releases on other platforms have already proven to be a success, and new data focused on last month revealed Xbox's multiplatform releases made it the top game publisher.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has also reiterated over the past week how the plan is to continue releasing games on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms going forward.
What are your thoughts about Master Chief's collection potentially going multiplatform? Let us know in the comments.

I mean it’s done isn’t it. Might be announced today; they may as well. Might be at the Switch 2 game reveal in April.
Everyone is so excited to play these games on Playstation - I don’t get it. They’ve been accessible to so many for years; but okay. The industry is designed around protecting Playstation so whatever.
In fairness the game is out ages so why not🤷
When this happens and at this point I’m certain it will, any brand identity Xbox has left will be dead.
I do not care at this point it’s clear the path they’re going, when there’s no dedicated Xbox hardware in the next decade or so don’t be surprised.
@K1LLEGAL It's probably the classic "it's not on my platform, so it's automatically poo" thing, once it's actually on their platform they give it a fair shot.
I expect the general tone around Starfield to shift when it goes MP.
I don’t mind the older games like FH5 etc.
Just wish there was say any New Xbox studios games stayed exclusive to Xbox universe for say 6 months minimum.
Then at least we would know, yes any game can go PS or Switch but until after 6 months Xbox exclusivity.
It would have be so much better for Xbox to do then at least I would have good reason to keep series x and GPU knowing I have six months of Xbox exclusivity.
Instead we get an absolutely crap mixed message from Microsoft.
What games?
When day of release like doom?
When later sometime?
Microsoft are really being scum to the loyal Xboxers, with no full specification process.
Thing is, @OldGamer999, let's say you are a huge Forza fan (or Gears of War / Halo ) and you are tossing up whether to buy a PS6 or the Prime with only the finances to buy one or the other, not both. If you knew that these games were going to be on a PS6 after just 6 months of exclusivity on the Xbox, would you really buy the Prime over the PS6?
Let's face it, if you are a fan of these games, the likelihood is that you played the previous Halo, or whatever, upon release, and then you have had to wait 5 years or more for the release of the next one. So what is another 6 months?
And that's before you get into the fact that the PS6 will have actual exclusives...
@abe_hikura Starfield is very mediocre though
@Ricky-Spanish it's a very marmite game, but there are certain amount if the negatively towards the game is from PS players who haven't played it, haven't even watched actual gameplay.
When it comes to PS I am sure it will be just as divisive but there will be some narrative of PS5 getting the fixed "superior version" and how it's "not actually that bad"
@Fiendish-Beaver
You do have a good point.
I would buy the console where the game performs best like Doom will probably play best on PS5 Pro, obviously waiting results.
So if prime played the game best and I got it 6 months exclusive, it would be prime.
If PS6 played the game best I would wait six months.
So obviously switch 2 wouldn’t be in the running, of course switch 2 is for Nintendo in house exclusives.
But my point is Xbox are stringing Xboxers along with this what game and when uncertainty and what respect I had left for Xbox and my Xbox’s since day one really has gone now.
I have seen some things from gaming companies over the decades, but I think this is probably the most disappointing and disrespectful act of business smoke and mirrors and totally ignorance for gamers I’ve seen.
At this point I wished they would just leave the hardware market today and get on being a publisher and we know exactly where we are then games wise from Xbox studios.
This will breath some much needed new life into halo. This is great news for fans of halo. Hopefully some creative ps users find forge mode and make some custom content. Playing against a bunch of first timers sounds kind of fun too. Halo infinite next please!
Having a game that is very multiplayer focused as an exclusive was always a really dumb decision.
@OldGamer999 yep. Pretty much what I think. There uncertainty and drip feeding games is just stringing people along. 1 year ago they said exclusives are still an important part of their strategy. Now it is "no red lines". The back and forth is pretty ridiculous. They need to stop speaking to the media cause they've flip flopped more times then any other company.
See you on ps6 guys
@abe_hikura Yeah I definitely won't get as much hate when it releases on playstation and they should have a bug free version as well day one!
They will release it in summer is my guess.
Forza in next couple of months, doom in may then halo.
They won’t port all the games close by, will be a little gap between them. Keep the hype up.
It's inevitable now.
I wouldn't be surprised to see gamepass move to ps6 at this rate.
Looking forward to mcc on everything with crossplay, i'm not buying another xbox though since there is really no point anymore
Master Chief, the face of Xbox especially in the 360 era soon on PlayStation and Nintendo.
Will be a very Sonic to Nintendo moment lol. At least Microsoft can really push Halo esport in an even bigger way now…
@FatGuyInLilCoat
Yep that’s the only thing that annoys me.
Not the games going to other consoles, that is done now.
They have absolutely given no joy to Xboxers and don’t even have the decency to give us 6 months exclusivity on all new games, of course not COD.
@OldGamer999 I mentioned it on the other post but the problem with timed exclusivity is how small the Xbox share of the pie really is if you are commiting to bringing games to all platforms anyway.
Looking at current sales of Switch / PS5 / X-S the Xbox makes up 12% of those. If the plan is for games like Halo / Gears / Forza / Doom / Elders Scrolls to be on all platforms in future then it makes no sense to only offer it to a tiny % of consumers on launch and the rest 6 months later. the initial sales hype will have died down and real feedback starts appearing. There are plenty of examples of games being hyped, for it to be quickly tempered when players actually got their hands on the game.
And at present its an issue that mainly hurts MS because they are in last place. Sony and Nintendo can keep playing the game, MS has to adapt and once the top brass get a taste of that increased income they wont be walking back from it.
@Ilyn
Totally agree they way gone to me on the games and some sort of respectful exclusivity to Xboxers and GPU members.
I would have been happy with 6 months on all new Xbox studios games, obviously COD they can’t.
But no they can’t even give a day one all consoles GPU member that and some sort of joy from it all.
I’m done with them now but do enjoy Pure Xbox and the crown on here you are all great even though I’ve pushed the limit sometimes with some of you.
As with Forza, it's not the end of the world and it's not the end of Xbox, quite the opposite, actually.
The reality is...
Xbox games on PC, no one bats an eyelash.
PS game on PC, no one bats an eyelash.
The whole argument of "why buy an Xbox, when you can play (not all of) their games on PS?" is beyond me, when you can literally play both PS and Xbox games on PC...
It's contradictory at best.
Either way, like I said elsewhere, this is good for the studios, for MS, and more importantly, the life-span of the games that go broader. Like the PS exec said in regards to Xbox and multiplat, there's no victims.
@Isolte @Fiendish-Beaver Totally disagree. There's no victims here whatsoever. Like I've said 1000 times. It only benefits the platform, the studios, and the game(s) itself. This is the direction the market is heading in. It's become such a harsh terrain that even devout third party publishers (such as SE) have gone multiplat. Will Xbox lose some hardware customers going into next gen? Possibly.
But... given that they've touted feature-competitiveness, and huge leaps for what comes next, they have every chance of gaining on those losses. We wont know until they unveil it, so I'd personally reserve judgement until then. I've every faith in them, but things like these (the subject of this article) is a none issue.
The only reason Xbox is doing this is they are dead third and sacrificed this whole generation squiring Activision. If they thought they could sell Xbox’s by being exclusive that’s exactly what would have happened. It would have been preferable. Now we will witness the slow death of their hardware side.
Here is my prediction. When PlayStation 6 is announced. Xbox will announce theirs as well. But there’s will be like a series S. They will go after the affordability market and leave the premium options to PC and PS. Switch 2 just killed their portable plans. They can only make sales going affordable.
@Kaloudz is Xbox giving free PS codes to Xbox owners of the same games? No. So there are victims. Anyone who put all their money into Xbox ecosystem which will eventually die hardware wise while whomever bought the PS version will likely work on PS6. PS7. PS8…
Oh it’s happening alright, there can be no doubt anymore. It’s an Xbox exclusive fire sale, everything must go! Xbox is a third party publisher now first and foremost who happens to make a console on the side. Multiplatform publishing is their future.
PlayStation and Xbox supporters have their own frustrations.
PlayStation owners in the know are cursing Jim Ryan’s live service push. Such a waste of talent, money and…most importantly…time. But at least he was honest about the direction he was moving PlayStation.
Xbox owners have been flat out lied to. Pure Xbox should put together a timeline of Philspeak to document his messaging over the past two years. I bet it would be a fascinating read.
@Kaloudz mate, you took a break from the site because all you was doing was defending Xbox.
You have come back and are doing the same. You are going to burn yourself out again. Would be a shame to see you leave again. You don’t need to defend MS every move!
Let people be annoyed. Let people feel let down. You don’t have to stand up for MS. It’s their job to communicate better.
@abe_hikura thats 100% going to happen with Starfield. But thats the thing; they put so much hate out towards “xbox” games to make their platform seem superior and now they are getting them anyway. So yes they are hypocrites or liars or whatever but… it worked. The narrative in the industry has almost always been that Playstation is “better” than Xbox and now they got what they wanted; Xbox giving up.
Doesn’t help that you have fanboys locked in at the top of the industry like Geoff Keighley and now Chris Dring who ***** on Xbox every chance they get. Or at least they did…
Why not? Phil specifically said there were no lines anymore, that any game that had an audience (and a profit) on another platform was viable. Halo does, so it will.
The strategy is clear, they will put it on PS for sure, and if they are following their strategy they should. A PS is an Xbox. 💁🏻🤦🏻
@sixrings No, there aren't any victims. Why? Because the games are still available on Xbox, and will remain to be available. Did it kill Xbox when this very game launched on Steam? No... Would it kill Xbox if this game launched (which I think it will) on Switch 2? No.
@Isolte You can get a good gaming PC for around the £1k mark, which is only a little more than the cost of the PS5 Pro + drive. That's not to mention alternatives like Steam Deck etc... It's a fair comparison.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Totally cool with people being annoyed bud, but I'm just airing my opinion on the matter. I personally don't think it's that big a deal and (despite popular belief around here) this doesn't spell the end of Xbox. Quite the contrary.
@Isolte Thanks but I took a bite of your cookie and it tasted a bit salty.
Kidding aside, you're free to believe what you want to believe and I am too. Thanks for not resorting to insults and being respectful. Have a good'n buddy!
A shame that Halo Infinite is not coming before MCC - that game could really use a larger use base... just like SOT. I'd be shocked if Halo moves any Xbox console sales today. Most people already are set on a system, they invested maybe 10x or more the value of the console in games, getting them to switch platform doesn't make sense anymore.
@Fiendish-Beaver But you would be cutting out the fact that with Ultimate Gamepass, you dont just get the Xbox version Day One you also get the PC/ handheld versions included in the price.
That would cost you £70 for each version on the PlayStation with or without PS Plus tier subscription.
Then add in the fact that you can buy cheap full subscriptions and Digital games from 3rd party on Xbox, not a chance of doing that on PlayStation they even make you buy a subscription for cloud saves on PS5 which are Free on Xbox.
@K1LLEGAL For me personally, it's because I don't care about GPU and GPC is awful compared to PS Plus Essential's offerings.
@K1LLEGAL hold on I thought xbox has no games for years? Now turns out “the biggest racing game is coming to PS” haha. Double standards.
@shoeses you don’t care about GPU; but a single month of it would allow you to play through Forza Horizon 5, all the Gears games, all the Halo games, Indiana Jones etc.
@Isolte I was just being silly lol. Ignore me, I'm stupidest when trying to be funny.
@Isolte It's like the FTC all over again lol! It's cool though. I'm all for constructive chatter we can't all agree about the same thing can we? That'd just be dull.
@Isolte Same here dude. In fact on this very site I had to walk away for nearly a year lol.
@K1LLEGAL I'd prefer to own games than infinitely rent them, and in addition to not caring about most of the GPU permeant games, the ones I do care about are old and cheap so I own them. Which is why GPC is so unappealing to me. For something like the MCC, I'd rather just buy it again on PS5 and not pay for an extra online service I see no value in.
@shoeses but you can buy it on Xbox too and have been able to for 10 years now…
I don’t get the obsession with Playstation.
Removed - unconstructive
@K1LLEGAL Yep. And I played it on Xbox for 10 years. But I don't see a reason to own an Xbox in the future if I can buy all its games on PS or Nintendo consoles, so I'll buy it again on another Platform.
@Isolte no I get the coverage. This is huge. What I mean is - if God of War or Spiderman came to Xbox, you wouldn’t have people from Playstation rushing to buy them on Xbox. It would mostly be new Xbox players. Whereas with what is happening here, MCC etc on Playstation, Xbox players seem so excited to buy the games on Playstation again.
Unless it comes down to trophies and achievements?
I myself think it is good that the game is available on PS, but I think some happy news is needed for those who are fans of Xbox games and chose the Xbox console.
Because it seems to me that Microsoft just abandoned the Xbox Series X|S.
