We've been hearing a lot about this rumoured Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake over the past few weeks, and if you believe what some of the latest reports have been saying, it sounds like it's going to drop at some point during April.
It might even be as soon as this week! Social media user DetectiveSeeds, who has been sharing all sorts of apparent insider information recently, has advised that they believe the game will either launch this week or next week:
It's obviously worth taking this with a massive pinch of salt (hence why "iffy" was quoted in the headline), but we know for sure this isn't just an April Fools' Joke - it was posted on March 30th, so no worries there!
Perhaps we'll get some news very soon... we'll obviously let you know if and when there's an official announcement.
Looking forward to an Oblivion remake on Xbox Game Pass? Tell us down in the comments section below.

Seems dubious. Would they really want to undercut South of Midnight like that. (April 3 early access / April 8 launch for plebs like me)
That'd be a nice surprise. Perhaps we hear of it in today's GP drop announcement?
Hopefully it's true but this whole cloak and dagger vibe with game releases is just stupid honestly just announce games I suppose if rockstar are being arses about the gta release date everyone else has to do the same with there games why be original when you can follow!
Would a game that gets shadow-dropped be provided, for the purposes of review, to the likes of yourselves first, @FraserG? And if so, do you have one... 😉😂
Yeah right april fool day fake news.
@munstahunta "We know for sure this isn't just an April Fools' Joke - it was posted on March 30th"
@Fiendish-Beaver Let's be as transparent as possible about this...
Has it happened in the past? Yes.
Has it happened with Oblivion? No. 🙃
Ahh, well. I tried! Thank you, @FraserG...
I remember finishing all other ES games (some several times), but don't remember finishing Oblivion for some reason.
Will defo keep my eyes out for this to add to the backlog....
I'm still not certain what the heck it is? A true remake is not EU5 bolted onto the old game. If that's what it is, I have to wonder how it is going to go over. The animations need a complete overhaul, for example. Please, don't tell me those animations are staying. They were bad when the game released.
Just shadowdropping new game without any marketing or at least presentation (like with NG2) is a bad idea.
Shadowdropping is cool like a surprise for GP users if its an older game. Likey if they drop tomorrow THPS1+2 I doubt anyone will suffer.
What I really like about GP is calendar. MS hosts 2 presentations per year and announces dates or at least release windows for next 6 months. Thats really cool.
Like this year we already have full calendar of releases for every month until June or so.
That kinds gives a different vibe like you sub and know you will play this project at that month vs when it was so random before.
Seems like weird timing.
@themightyant exactly. In order to figure out timing we really have to see where the holes are. They don’t want to undercut expedition 33 either I’m sure.
By the fires of Akatosh!! Time to quit my job and abandon my family I don't have. I shall shut close the jaws of OBLIVION!!
Seems like a crazy game to shadow drop considering the hype around it
If this is true, it probably means that they're going to Shadow drop it because all they've done is update the textures and frame rate. I think anyone who remembers it knows that it needs a whole lot more. What it really needs is a complete remake.
@Blastfemur Honestly I'm fine with them releasing the exact same game as long as they can give us a better draw distance. The 360 version had awful draw distance that become apparent when you stood on the cliffs looking over the region. I would love to see a full populated world.
Mod support would be nice to even though I imagine switching to UE5 is going to pretty much void every mod that currently exists for the game...
